Service is terrible

After numerous attempts, 2 service calls, too many phone calls to count, and in store personal visits with 2 managers at the Gurnee, Il store to address this issue. As of today the speaker system still is not functioning properly & called corporate to resolve this issue promptly. It needs to be taken care of promptly.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose® - Soundbar 700 Featuring Built-In Amazon Alexa Voice Control Included- Soundbar, Remote with battery, ADAPTiQ headset, optical cord, HDMI cord, power cord, cleaning cloth and a manual. Overview- Bose is a nice looking, high quality product that produces high quality sound. I'm never disappointed in Bose and their products. The built in Alexa is so-so. I'm not as impressed with that feature. Setup- The Soundbar was packaged nicely. With the help of the basic guide, it tells you where to place the soundbar, connect it and then find the Bose Music app for further instructions. For the best results, use the ADAPTiQ at different locations around your quiet room to calibrate the sound. I find the cord to not be long enough for our floor plan. The soundbar is located in one large room that includes my kitchen, dining and family room combined. We regularly have the TV on while we're in the far end of the room but the headset does not reach back that far. It's made for a smaller closed off room. Sound- Like always, Bose delivers amazing sound. I currently own the Bose Soundbar 300 and subwoofer and so I didn't notice as drastic of a change since we already have a nice system. But I have no complaints about the new 700. It enhances our movies, TV shows and music far better than what just the TV sound would be. Remote- The remote that is included is large but nice. It has a smooth velvety touch and is touch sensitive. It's normally all blacked out but when you pick it up, the remote will light up so you can see the keys and buttons. Alexa- This is my first experience with Alexa. I've never been a big fan of smart assistants so I'm hard to win over. And she has not succeeded. My kids love bugging her and asking her odd questions, tell jokes or change the volume. But it has had problems shutting off frequently. My husband realized it was due to the way we had the Soundbar connected. It works fine when it's connected via wifi and before that we had it connected with a cat 5. It is convenient to ask Alexa to adjust the volume or turn on the radio hands free. But like any personal assistant, it does not always hear or understand us correctly. It does not switch our sound from radio to TV or turn our TV on or off. Maybe that's just user error but then we always have to look for the remote. We did get it to connect to our Ecobee to verbally command a couple settings but that also is limited and not exactly how we would have liked. I personally find it much easier to physically do what I want instead of relying on Alexa. Recommendation- I always recommend Bose. The Soundbar 700, along with the recommended Subwoofer is quite an investment. They are a premium product. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it because of Alexa though. That is not a selling point for me. But the sleek, classy design, and high quality product and sound are consistent from Bose and that's why I always recommend them.

Bose 0 v 1 Sonos

Went to plan b, Sonos, never looked back, Sonos is the nuts, within days all my neighbors loved AC/DC so much they were hammering on the walls along with the music….. no emojis allowed? Oh well

Electric burn

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the speakers however i can not increase the volume pass 70%. when i listen to the soundbar on 70-80% volume they whole living room starts smelling like electric burn. i have returned this sound bar 3 times and still all of them smell like electric burn whenever i listen to it at volume 70-80%.

Thank you for your post. A smell is normal with new systems and will lessen over time.
On new systems—or systems being used for the first several times—it is normal for an odor to be released from the system. The smell is known as off-gassing, which is a normal release of chemicals due to temperature or pressure. This is common with speakers in new electronics.

Waste of money

If the remote quits working, which it does often, your system is useless. The app is useless as well as are the instructions for what to do when it happens. It’s to late for me to return but BOSE needs to fix this problem. Going to the trash.

Great sounding sound bar

The sound quality is very good and sound stays crisp and crystal clear even at higher volumes and with the bass module you get a nice deep bass sound as well. Set up was not to bad but takes a little bit of time to do properly. The remote can be programmed to control all your devices like tv and DVD player. And the remote feels great and very comfortable. The sound bar is smaller and not to big. And yet packs a punch. Over all if you are looking for a great high quality sounding sound bar, this is it. And if you enjoy bass, rather from music or watching movies or both then I also suggest getting the bass module for this as well. And if you like Alexa then it has that as well. Now for why I give it 4 Stars and not 5. A lot of these reasons are small especially for this day and age but still. Set up was easy but to calibrate you must be quiet. If quiet it does not take long. But if not it can take time. It lacks audio input. You are limited to 3 options. Bluetooth, hdmi arc, or optical. For the price tag, I would have thought more options. Like an hdmi pass thru for one. Maybe a 3.5mm auxiliary option and your RCA right and left. But it only had the 3 options. It does not have any sort of display other then a light that acts certain ways depending on what you do. It lacks full use without the app. At the price I would have liked the remote to have a bass and treble up and down or even to turn bass off. But you can only do via using a smart phone and thru the app. Same with a display. Would have been nice to have it show what volume level your at or if it did allow bass and treble adjustments that it would show up so you know you are adjusting those. But it lacks that. Those things are small but still worth mentioning. Not everyone is going to want to come over and have to download the app and connect to my bose to fully use it. Or in my case, my kids love to use my phone. So I would love to be able to adjust bass and such from the remote etc. Over all though, it sounds great. Not disappointed at all with sound. And I like the look.

A bad day with my sound bar.

I did call support and after about an hour he suggested they send me another unit as a replacement. I declined. I have owned a Bose surround sound system. I use Bose sound bar, head phones and a system 2 sound system as a musician. I was disappointed.

The sound that comes from the soundbar alone almost makes a subwoofer unnecessary. Adding the sub will give you that added amazing quality overall

Fabulous Sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently acquired the Bose 700 Soundbar & the Bose 700 Bass Module. The products were very well packed & after viewing the booklets that came with them I was expecting a simple hook up to my TV. Well that wasn't the case. The booklet instructs you to connect the power cord then get the Bose App from either the Apple or Google store. Quite frankly the App is useless. It completely fails to instruct you what the features of the remote control are and fails to provide any help should the system not operate correctly. In our case blue tooth worked great, but with the TV we had a problem. We were getting sound from both the soundbar & the TV at the same time. Thru dumb luck we found a YouTube video that walked us right thru resolving the problem. It was a simple matter of going into the TV's programing & turning off the TV's speaker. We're still searching for an instructional video of how to program the remote control. Currently we have to use our cable remote to turn on TV & cable box & switch channels & we have to turn the Bose sound bar on with the Bose remote. Oddly enough our cable remote will turn the sound bar off & control the volume. As for performance & sound quality I can only say WOW, what an improvement. You almost think you are listening to surround sound, it's that good. I believe if Bose would simplify the installation instructions perhaps by making their own video, a person could install the system in less than 10 minutes. And if we can ever get everything to work on one remote control I'd be doing back flips with excitement. As it is now I just jump with joy.
