Had a lot of expectation from Bose

When I first plugged it in I couldn't notice the difference between sound of my TV vs sound from Bose Smart Ultra. May be with a full 5.1 system it may be better, but if you are just looking for a soundbar this may not be the one.

Don’t buy, go to Sonos or other bowers and Wilkins

Do Not Buy

Just wont connect via HDMI any more, forcing me to use the optical out audio port. This defeats the purpose of having a “one remote to rule them all” setup. Just buy the Sonos or Samsung sound bars, even Sony. Anything is better than this nightmare of a sound bar. Customer service is a joke and not helpful. Im gonna chuck this into tje trash.

Includes all original parts, packaging and accessories (or suitable replacement)." I do not have the following: HDMI eARC cable, Optical cable, Power cord, This is very frustrating - I am exceedingly disappointed with the product I will return the item and never order again This is false advertising Very disappointing

Opened the box found the glass top was all chipped

Arrived not double boxed and missing original foam packaging.I opened the box found the glass top was all chipped up and the front grill was partially detached. I returned it at the store and bought a new one there.

Never again.

Boy was I wrong. Soundbar quit working after less than 2 months and the support from Bose is ridiculous. Been on chat for almost 2 hours with nothing but meaningless responses. Now I have to pack up the soundbar, ship it to Bose, wait for them to receive and then they send a new one a month later. Unacceptable in my book. Never again.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The addition of a soundbar to even the best brands of televisions makes a world of difference in improving the audio experience for television or listening to music. There are a number of soundbar brands to choose from and our family has owned at least a few of the top named brands, including Bose. The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar gives an immediate, positive first impression when seeing it for the first time. It definitely outdoes any of our previous soundbars in terms of its simple, elegant styling. In particular, we like the combination of the glass top and the wrap around metal grille. It is a very sleek look in a size that is more compact than our previous soundbar in terms of height and length. To begin setup, install the power plug and check for the light bar to glow solid amber. One simply proceeds to then scan the QR code to download the Bose Music app to complete the setup. Choose from either the HDMI or optical cable that Bose has supplied to establish the single connection setup to one’s television. We continued to complete the additional steps as directed in the app, including the ADAPTiQ headset process which performs calibration steps to fine-tune the system’s sound in particular to our room. The fun part comes after the short setup time where we experimented with listening to a number of different songs. We like that the app has a simple design and is clearly laid out to facilitate ease of use. Audio sources included tv, Bluetooth and AirPlay. The AirPlay option was very convenient for us Apple users so we appreciated that feature. The soundbar also includes built-in Chromecast, Roku TV ready and Spotify Connect. At one point while listening to music, we installed our old soundbar and did a comparison test between the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar and our previous brand. While we were not dissatisfied with our previous brand, we had to give a leg up for the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar as the sound just seemed crisper to us and the bass seemed to be better with Bose. Next up, we enjoyed a variety of tv viewing from full length movies to streaming tv series. Again, the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar did not disappoint with Dolby Atmos, surround sound technology that allows one to be immersed in all variety of sounds be it action movies, science fiction or horror. At various seating/viewing positions the soundbar did a good job of filling various areas of the room with all variety of sounds from music to dialogue. The Bose app allows whole-home systems control to establish groups to include your soundbar and additional Bluetooth speakers, or to add to home theatre with wireless surround speakers and wireless bass modules. Voice controls are built in for Amazon Alexa or to work with Google Home. Though Bose may come at a premium over some of the other soundbar brands that are available we found the audio quality to be a step up which is surely a result of Bose engineering and technology. Not only does the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar look sleek, modern and compact; it delivers by creating an audio experience that is shared throughout the room. Best of all, its ease of setup makes this an easy addition for anyone looking to elevate their home viewing or listening experience.

Had the geek squad out who reset everything and said they just aren’t reliable. Only way to get it to work is turn everything totally off and reset it and do that repeatedly. Called Bose support too with no better answer.

Never works

Best buy installed it to our system so I know its not anything we did. It just never works. I can connect to it via bluetooth and get no audio, and when using the tv, we have to use to tv speakers. It does not work via e-arc hdmi connection. Should have spent the extra money on a sonos system and gotten a product that actually works

Amazing sound for TV, Movies, and Music!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Finally, someone has made a sound bar that not only sounds good for TV / Movies, but also for music as well! I have used probably over 20 sound bars in my lifetime and there was one thing I have always been very disappointed about….they sound absolutely horrible whenever you try to play music through them. Yes, I may be picky, some might use the term audiophile, but I just have standards when im listening to music. When I unboxed this sound bar and got it set up, I knew that it would probably sound amazing for TV and movies since I have had a couple other Bose sound bars in the past. It definitely did not disappoint. I used the HDMI connection for audio and pulled up a movie with Atmos sound. This sound bar filled up my room with sound from all directions and I was even quite impressed with the amount of bass this thing put out without having a dedicated subwoofer. If you want something that will rattle the walls and wake the neighbors, you might want to add one, but I think this will be just fine for most people. Then I just put on some old TV shows that I knew had no special kind of audio and they all sounded great as well. Perfectly balanced sound, easy to hear dialogue. You really cant ask for anything more! Then I decided to hook it up to my phone and play some High Res audio files through it. I was expecting to be completely disappointed, but I was actually pretty blown away at how good it sounded. I have had other Bose sound bars in the past and I have never liked the way music has sounded through them, but I think they finally got it right this time! The music sounded very crisp and clear and detailed. From symphonic music to heavy metal, it sounded superb. One caveat, if you push it too hard it will start to break up on you. But for low to mid volume ranges I think you will definitely be happy! Now lets get into the design of the sound bar. It looks beautiful, I will say that. Nice sleek glass top with the speaker grille wrapped around the front and sides. Fairly easy to clean, but the top does attract dust and fingerprints pretty easily. My biggest gripe about this sound bar is that there is no display on it. I cant blame just Bose for this, because so many other sound bar manufacturers have started leaning this way and it makes absolutely no sense to me! There is literally no way by just looking at this sound bar to easily know what you are doing or what it is doing. When you push buttons on the remote it flashes lights on the front, but who knows what those mean. If im watching a movie, I have no way of knowing if the sound mode is actually playing on Atmos, or if its just playing a surround sound mode. There is no way to change the bass or treble or the mix of the sound without using the app on your phone. I don’t always have my phone right next to me so that’s a real pain in the butt if I need to make sound adjustments. I would much rather have a full featured remote and a display on the front of the sound bar so I know exactly what I am doing and what the sound bar is doing. Yeah, having a display might not look as cool, but it would really help your users out immensely. So I beg you Bose, PLEASE start putting displays on your sound bars again and include full featured remotes. Not everyone has a phone strapped to their hip 24/7. So, my overall opinion on this sound bar is that it will look great in your home and it will sound great whatever you play through it. I would absolutely go with this over any other sound bar, cause I have heard most of them, and they don’t sound as good as this! I have a few gripes about it. But at the end of the day it’s a sound bar, and the sound is amazing!
