This soundbar has good midrange accuracy and natural sounding high's. Low frequency response is good for the size. It would have been nice to have a sub output, that does not exist on this unit. That being said, we actually bought 2 to improve the sound on some of our smaller tv locations.

Even though I had read reviews online before I bought, I figured i'd Give it a try. The reviews were right. Even at the highest volume, the sound output was way too low. I have tiny cheap Bluetooth speakers that are way better. Surprised since this was a Bose.

I bought this sound bar because we were tired of the poor sound quality of TV speakers and the difficulty to trying to connect the TV to a sound system. When this sound bar went on sale six months ago, I figured we could not go wrong with a Bose system and decided to make the purchase. We could not be happier with how the sound bar has worked for not only out TV but being able to connect tablets and other wireless devices has added a whole new range to our listening experiences. It is always difficult if not impossible to tell what a system will sound like when in the great open space of a store so I relied on the Bose name for this purchase was not disappointed. The only glitch we had was the optical output on the TV was not functioning. Great product for home use in a moderate size room.

Bought to improve tv sounds. Not up to my expectations. Decent sound quality but very limited ability to choose desired output ranges. Using the improved dialogue feature cuts out higher bass sounds. Doesn't deliver clear dialogue and booming bass sounds. No indication of volume level.

Pros: The soundbar is light weight and handy and portable. Setup is easy. By connecting couple of cords, you are good to go. Cons: Sound output is not good enough for large rooms. Works best if the soundbar is kept on an elevated platform. The remote is extremely bulky. Good for a small room .

Very Disappointing - NOT like the Store Demo

I listened to the store demo at my local Best Buy for about a year before I pulled the trigger on this for Christmas 2018. I liked what I heard in the store and I was prepared to have less bass and a more balanced sound with lots of clarity. I did everything right including of course the optical cable hook up. It just sounded HORRIBLE.... worse than my internal TV speakers. Flat. . zero depth...zero stereo separation.... nothing like what I heard at the store. It sounded like two little cheap crappy speakers in an oversized sound bar. I am 60 years old and a musician since the age of 5 so I know a little bit about his stuff. For you Techies who want to find the weak link in my chain of gear that would explain this horrible phenomenon, I have a 100Mbs cable Internet connection with a pretty expensive 2 channel Linksis Wifi Router so the TV is alone on the 5Ghz channel. Amazon Fire TV Box into fairly new Sony Bravia. Optical out to Bose Solo 5. My old Altec Lansing 2.1 system from the 90's plugged into the digital audio out on the Sony Bravia sounds light years beyond the Bose Solo 5 in the Optical Output. I don't get it.... except... when I went back to Best Buy to check THEIR connections, the Bose Solo 5 was not hooked up to the optical output on the TV. Instead, the Optical Input on the Bose went into some location hidden within the display. It did NOT go to the optical out on the TV - so that tells you something. I so wanted this thing to do what it does while both my kids and their spouses/girlfriends came home for the Holidays... but it was universally agreed upon that it is just a horrible piece of electronic equipment.
