It's the first Bose speaker I have ever purchased to replace my TV speaker bc it is so affordable. Now don't be mistaken...this is not one of those fancier, surround sound set ups. This is a really straightforward, enhanced TV speaker. The clarity is way better where I can actually hear conversations going on that aren't muffled. Music sounds like music! And the balance is just so much better than what you get out of your TV alone. The cool thing is that this speakers lets you connect to Bluetooth with 2 devices at the same time! You can have a music war with your friends going back and forth! Lol. I purchased this right away when I saw the price point bc hello, it's Bose! Awesome little dude for my living room. And you can mount it! Even better. Super simple set up too. Optical to my TV and then power connection. Voila. You're done.

Not loud enough through TV

The sound was great when I hooked it up to my phone through bluetooth for music. However, when trying to watch a show through the TV, the sound would not get loud enough even after trying all of the suggestions I found online. We will be returning it.

We're glad to hear that you enjoyed this when this was connected to Bluetooth, and sorry to hear that you were unhappy with this when this was connected to the TV, and would love the chance to get this back to the level of volume and quality that you would expect!
While we don't know which troubleshooting steps you have tried online, we would recommend the following:
1) If possible, try this with another audio cable type. This system supports AUX, Optical, and Coaxial cable types, so please try one of these other types to confirm that this is not just an issue with the cabling.
2) Depending on the TV/Port that is used, there may be an internal setting for audio levels for "Headphones" or "External Speakers". Please check for either of these settings, and turn these levels up if needed!
3) If another monitor, TV or system is available to test this with, please connect this Soundbar up to this system, and confirm that if this issue is with all devices or only a single device. If this is with a single device, please check again for any of the above settings that may have caused this!
4) If your TV/device is a "Smart" device, and/or has access to Bluetooth, please connect to the Soundbar through this method and confirm whether you receive the correct levels of audio this way.
If you have tried all of the above and are still unable to get an appropriate level of volume from our Soundbar, please reach out to Bose Support in your country/region for further assistance.
