Really happy with this soundbar. When we moved into our new house, the Sonos 5.1 claimed the basement, I went with Edifier 1850s in our living room for simplicity's sake, and had my Bose Soundtouch 300 with wireless sub left. I ended up with the Soundtouch 300 and sub in our master bedroom. It was phenomenal, but total overkill to have a system that loud and lovely in a bedroom. So off it went. I tinkered with the Bose Solo 5, the newer Bose 'bedroom' soundbar, the Roku soundbar, and a couple other brands. I found an open box Bose Solo 5 at my local Best Buy for a decent deal and scooped it up. Unpacked, hooked it up, and used the remote settings to get the bass where I wanted, in less than ten minutes. It sounds terrific and really delivers. I bought a third party mounting bracket online a few days later...once I got it set up underneath out TV, we're in business. Would I ever use this in a larger room, or basement? Not a chance. But in a bedroom, office, smaller rec room, workout room? 100%.

Replace a LG 2.1 sound bar with the Boise Solo. The Solo has a great sound and takes up less space than the LG, very pleased with the sound and the price.

I kept reading so many reviews about good-great soundbars that are not as expensive as the Bose one, but played it safe and went with Bose because of its brand name recognition. I cannot believe I’ve wasted all these years using my television’s speakers - this made a world of difference. The bass, for starters, is incredible. The sound just permeates my living room so much better - and I have high ceilings so I felt like I always had to turn my tv speakers up so loud. The Bose remote allows you to program your sound preferences. I use AppleTV 4K so I use that remote as my “universal remote”. I’m able to adjust the sound through my AppleTV remote. The soundbar shuts off automatically when your tv is sleeping/turned off. The downside - makes me now want the full Bose suite of speakers and higher-end soundbar. Here is hoping I don’t have to make that investment for a long time.

Besides great sound reproduction, the Bose speaker comes with an easily programmable universal Bose remote that is useful for controlling all components. We loved our first Bose speaker so much we headed back to Best Buy the very next day to purchase a second Bose speaker. We love the Bluetooth capability. The quality of the Bose sound is EXCEPTIONAL!!

Needed a small sound bar to improve the TV sound. This little bar is perfect for a smaller stand or wall space. Bose has always provided a great sound for a reasonable cost. This doesn't need a separate woofer and it comes with a universal remote that will turn on the cable box, TV and sound bar together and can scroll through the channels with ease. Great product.

When The Bose® - Solo 5 TV Soundbar - Black dropped in price at my local store, I decided to purchase. I had been standing at the end cap presentation at that same store, staring at the Bose display every visit, thinking there was some kind of voodoo going on to get the great sound I was hearing, but I digress. I purchased, and setup was easy through the optical jack, and the sound was great. turned on the bass enhancer, and not a subwoofer, but that is not not what I wanted. Dialogue clarity is on point. and I can control it through my apple tv remote. All in all, very pleased with my purchase. It suited my need which was not a full blown theater room, but the superb enhancement of my wall mounted TV.

Smaller than most sound bars out there but has enormous Bose sound. Looks awesome with my new LG OLED 55 inch curved television. I Love that it came with a full universal remote. It also has the capability to bluetooth with up to 8 devices. I found a cheaper price on Amazon and Best Buy didnt hesitate to give me the lower price,

I already have a Bose surround system so I thought that I might as well buy a respective product to match what I have. It did not disappoint, it has incredible sound and the Bluetooth option is perfect for when all you want to do is listen to music. I highly recommend this product to anyone and the price was right with in my budget

I connected my new Solo 5 to a smaller-sized LED TV that had awful sound. What a BIG difference! And, the price was excellent. The size and absence of multiple speakers has no compromised sound quality. I should have bought 2 of them.

Good sound bar for separting out spoken voice

We purchased the Bose Solo 5 TV soundbar for my wife's parents. They both have hearing issues, and would have the normal TV turned up so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. I know, hearing aids.... but.... The purpose was two fold. "separate out the spoken voice" so they could hear dialog above the normal TV background noise, and get a speaker closer to them so they didn't need crank up the volume of the TV itself. Sound quality is great, but then, that is why you by a Bose. And in the "spoken voice" enhanced mode, it really shines. You can really hear the difference. We hooked this up to an older Samsung plasma TV via a digital optical audio cable. Bluetooth isn't supported on the TV, and we tried a "third party" Bluetooth transmitter and there was too much delay. We placed the sound bar behind their chairs which are on the other side of the room, about 15 to feet away from the TV. There was a little too much delay (nothing like Bluetooth delay) between the characters on screens lips moving and their voice. This was a function of the TV. Pros here are we could leave the TV sound one or off (via volume or "TV setup menu") and use the Bose as surround sound. They have cable, and their cable box allows a digital optical audio connection, so I hooked the Bose directly to the cable box. The sound is just barely behind the character's lips. Much better. Again, pros, you can use the TV speakers and the Bose together or separate. We ran the digital optical audio cable over to the nearest AC vent (their AC is in the basement, so the vents come up from the floor), cut a small hole in the AC conduit, ran the cable over to an air vent close behind their chairs, (repeat AC vent procedure) and have a pretty clean installation. Overall Cons: This may only affect older Samsung units, but the code the Bose instructions say to use to control a Samsung didn't work on this TV. Researched it a little online, and found a couple of other codes. The "Bose" remote could turn on/off the TV, change the channel and source, but couldn't control the volume of the TV. Bummer, so much for "one" remote. But my parents-in-law can live with that. Overall, they love it. The sound is right their by them, and the "spoken voice" is easier to hear over the background TV filler noise.

Bose doesn’t make bad products, but I’ll still provide a critical and honest review so you know what you are purchasing. This soundbar replaced a lower end Sony soundbar with a wireless subwoofer. The sound on the Sony was decent, but it constantly lost audio connection to my TV (odd?). This soundbar doesn’t come with a subwoofer but what it lacks in bass it makes up for in crisp quality. It isn’t theater room worthy (you’d really want a subwoofer for that), but it’s everyday TV worthy. It’s much louder than my Sony! CONS: Only one, no HDMI connection. Not a deal breaker. BONUS: The remote that comes with it!!! I am able to use the Bose remote to control my TV, DirecTV, Roku, and Xbox One! I was considering buying a universal remote but I’m glad I didn’t. The set up for the additional devices was pretty easy also. The codes are in the manual.

This is my first Bose and WOW, won't buy anything else now. I dont understand the negative reviews, reviewers must have hooked up wrong or not understand the purpose of a "soundbar". Ive put this through a good year long testing. At night while in bed hit the speach button and no more blarring loud commercials waking up wife. The speach is crystal clear and easily heard at very low volume. Pair it with your phone and play your music and the sound is great, then crank up the bass for a good thump to the tracks. This thing is screaming loud. Its on the second floor of my house and you can turn it up and hear it clearly downstairs. Ive taken it outside for barbecues and it will drown out city noise. Crank it up twenty feet from guests and you wont be able to hear them speak. So unlike other reviewers claiming low volume, they arent correct. This is such a great product Im going to purchase a second one for another tv.
