A Monster System waiting to be unleashed

    Posted .

a beast waiting to be "unleashed" It fills a large room; simple to operate; interchangeable dock system; composite video output/line input for other mp3 players/phones; shielded for i Phones no more hissing sounds. Will work with internet radio like Pandora. While it's expensive and isn't loaded with features, the Bose Sound Dock 10 looks and sounds excellent for a compact i Pod speaker. Clean Design. "Extremely" powerful. Deep bass delivery with virtually no distortion even at the highest volume. Crisp musical response. Two proprietary Bose Twiddler® transducers (a combination of a high-frequency transducer and mid-range driver) are optimally positioned in the front of the system to complete the full-range of accurate musical reproduction, Not to mention its massive 7" Woofer the punches deep and low. @ almost 18lbs. for the system its massive and built precisely well, feels solid and refined. opposed to the sound dock II which weighs 4.5lbs I believe, it too sounds good minus the punch! I own 7 Bose speakers on my SUV, Bose 5.1 surround theater speakers, a sound dock II which sounds crisp and clear... at most volume levels, but starts to distort and sound washes away at high volumes. If you are looking for a sound dock for classical music and low to medium volume levels only.. go with the sound dock II or portable and save $200-$300; but if u like loud thumping, crisp, clear room filling sound that will shock everyone that hears this and cant believe the sound is coming from this system. this is 4 u. Its great indoors and outdoors, u wont be disappointed. Great for replacing your main entertainment center. and will rock any party anytime. Cant wait for the b b q party this weekend. Also note there's no longer volume buttons on the system its all done by remote control... or u can manually adjust the volume from the i pod / i phone interface. the whole system is built on a shock absorber foundation to absorb vibrations from the powerful sub woofer. that's unique and amazing. very satisfied with this purchase... Bose offers a 30 day money back guarantee, u got nothing to loose... b t w when u demo this system at retail stores. the sound that comes out of their p r e -selected tracks, sounds flat and boring, which does the s d 10 no justice. Pop in one of your f av tracks and you'll be BLOWN AWAY. I bought this for a workout room and for entertaining guest and for outdoor B B Q. any questions are welcomed. The only thing that i would have liked to see would have been a standard built in blue tooth capability, instead of it being sold separately.

    Great sounddock

Received the Bose Sound dock 10 for Christmas from my wife. I looked at this in the store and was amazed at the sound compare to the others available even the DRE Beatbox. The Bose has better sound if you compare the highs and low bass that you can hear. Only wish it had a FM tuner.

Bose SoundDock 10 is just what I hoped

I was told when making my decision that the portable did not have Waveguide speaker technology. I believe it does. I would have gone with the portable if I had done my research first, before buying. By the amount of enjoyment we're getting looks like the portable will be added too. I have friends who purchased this item for themselves after hearing ours.

    Great Sound!

Great sound, decent price and very easy to use. I took it straight out of the box, plugged it in without reading instructions and was able to listen to music from my ipod immediately. Decent size, does not take up too much room. My whole family has been enjoying it.

    Bose has another winner

At $540 sale price and only the Sound Dock series II on display, I had to walk around the store for 30 minutes to make up my mind. Needless to say, I took a chance and I couldn’t be happier. I have this in my bedroom and the acoustics are really good…. However…. A lot of the house has tile flooring and it doesn’t sound very good in these rooms. I get a lot of echo or reverb or whatever it’s called. My bedroom has carpet (plus my bed) which helps eliminate this effect. So make sure the room that you intend to use this in has carpet or at very lest, lots of soft furniture to help stop the echo affect. If you don’t have a good room to allow for good acoustics, this would be a colossal waste of money. I cannot stress that enough. Also, if you want something for the kitchen, bathroom, or other small room, buy something cheaper... For those out there not happy with the sound, location may be apart of their problem. With the right room, the only way to get better sound is to piece together your own system for a lot more $$$. One other note – Others have complained about how it’s too much to pay for just a powered speaker system. As in no radio, CD player, etc…. And they have a point. However, just remember that the basic function of the iPod replaces the need for CDs and if you have a iPod with Wi-Fi or a good 3G signal, you can just use the iheartradio app. Those two points alone should cover most people’s needs.

Don't think twice...the Sound Dock 10 is worth it!

Choices, Choices, Choices - Why choose the Bose Sound Dock 10: I purchased the Bose Sound Dock 10 to fill in the gaps I have in my living room entertainment system. While I have a really nice 42" Samsung HDTV and a blu-ray player up to this point I had never taken the time to purchase a home theater system. It came to my attention while planning a party at my house that I did not have any stereo equipment in the living room or family room to play music on. Since I had a left over $600 credit on a gift card, I decided to go to Best Buy to see what they had. I found myself torn in three different directions. My first option was to get a home theater system in a box (they typically come with a blu-ray player, a subwoofer, and several small speakers to create a surround sound environment). My second choice was one of three Bose cinema/surround sound speaker/amplifier/DVD packages (which were all very expensive - out of my price range actually) and the third option was to build a home theater system one component at a time (by getting a receiver, a set of speakers , a sub-woofer, an ipod dock, ect.) the cost of buying individual components became prohibitive as well so I settled on getting a smaller short term solution for now and investing in a nice system later when I could spend more money (at least $1200 - $1600). I narrowed my choices down to either a Bose Ipod Sound Dock or a Sony Muteki 720 watt shelf system. The Sony system was impressive in the store mainly because if its bassy sound and loud speakers however the sound fidelity was not there. I decided to get the Bose Sound Dock 10 because the demo unit in the store had incredible clarity and seemed surprisingly capable for such a svelte form factor. I actually have Bose noise canceling headphones that I refuse to travel without as well as Bose computer speakers on both of my computers in my office. I guess you could say that I like Bose Products. Initial Doubts: When I got the system home and took it out of the box I thought to myself there is no way that this is going to be able to replace a shelf system. I set it up and went to bed thinking about how much I paid for it and what else I could have purchased with that $600. The next day after work I called one of my friends to help give me a second opinion. I was experiencing buyer's remorse big time. I took him to Best Buy and let him hear the Sony and the Sound Dock 10. He felt like I should exchange the Bose and get the Sony. I told him that he had to come back to my house for the Sound Dock 10 sound test first. Awesome Discovery: When we got back to my house and tested the Sound Dock 10 we were both shocked at what we found. This is by far the best sound system that I have ever purchased! Here is a list of the high points... 1.) The sound fidelity at every volume level was spot on accurate. Highs, lows and mids were awesome on every genre of music we listened to. 2.) The Bass was perfectly adjusted, out of the box - the Sound Dock 10 has no need for Bass boost or any other artificial sound adjustments that many other shelf systems like the Sony often add. 3.) Low profile size allows it to fit in any corner of your room. One of the problems I kept thinking about with the Sony Muteki system was that it is HUGE! Between the speakers and the Primary shelf system I was having fits trying to figure out where I was going to put them if I decided to purchase them. 4.) Flexible Connectivity was the next surprise. My friend suggested that I try to plug the aux out in the back of the Sound Dock 1 into my HDTVs heaphone jack...lo and behold, the sound form the TV programming sounded INCREDIBLE on the sound dock! My friend and I were amazed at the sound detail we could now discern from everything from background sound effects in commercials to Hi Def sports channels. 5.) Even works with older Ipod models. I started by connecting it to my iphone but my friend brought up a good point that it might be inconvenient to answer calls while charging your phone and listening to music. On a whim I pulled out an old Ipod I have had for at least 5 years and it connected to the jack and worked flawlessly (apparently if you have an ipod model that has buttons above the click wheel it will still work as a music player but the sound dock cannot charge that device). Final Thoughts: This unit is awesome! Don't let the price fool you. Bose has earned the sterling reputation that they have by putting out superior products like this one. Yes, the price may seem high for average mid-low income consumers. If music clarity, crispness and fidelity are your hot buttons this products is for you and once you hear it for yourself (in your home, not in the store...) I think you will agree it is well worth the price.

    Best iPod speakers ever!

    Posted .

Just got done setting up the Bose SoundDock 10 and connected my iPod Nano 4th Generation. All I can say is AWESOME! I have been waiting for the SoundDock 10 to be available in the nearby BB stores forever (never seems to be in stock anywhere...what is the deal?). A month ago, due to lack of stock, I ended up taking home the Bose SoundDock Series II. It was awesome for what it is and it's the best docking speakers out there for its price range and the perfect iPod companion. If you own the Series II and are happy with it, keep it. However, I felt that it is second only to the SoundDock 10 for it lacked the waveguide speaker technology. I nearly had a heart attack when the SoundDock 10 was finally available during a BB special event for Reward Zone members this past Sunday. Can't believe that I took delivery of the one and only stock. BB, please do better. Anyway, all is forgiven now, and I returned the SoundDock Series II. I just can't say how truly AWESOME this product is. Low bass sounds are even more audible, especially if you like the thumping bass in your playlists. Vocals and instruments are very crisp. Acoustic music never sounded better! When I put up the volume, the music did not mash together. Just the best sounding music at a higher decibel. Sweet! I placed it on a side table by the window, facing the living room, and it can be heard just as crisply anywhere else in the house. It is not bulky and can be placed in a corner. It has very clean design and won't take too much space. The video ouput allows you to connect it to your TV and watch your iPod movies with sounds coming out of the SoundDock. A bluetooth accessory is also available for any bluetooth music phone. It is also very simple to use. Just connect your iPod/iPhone and press the play button on the remote control and off you go! Nothing is ever perfect, so here are the downsides to an otherwise very good product: 1. Price. I realize that not everyone can fork up $540 (sale price) plus tax. 2. Limited function of the remote control. It doesn't fully control your iPod or iPhone. 3. No lighted LCD display to show playlist. 4. Remote could use "glow-in-the-dark" feature. 5. No radio function, although one can download a radio app and this should take care of that issue. That's it! I am very happy with the Bose SoundDock 10. It is compatible with my iPod Nanos, iPod Touch, and IPhone. If you are still not sure, listen to the store demo system. You will not regret your purchase. I sure don't!

    Amazing iPod Dock

    Posted .

I ordered the Sounddock 10 Digital Music System for Apple iPod online from the USA and I am very impressed. I haven't been able to even crank up the volume 100% because there's simply no need to. At three-quarters of the way up, the sound is loud, clear, and crisp. There is no crackling or static as the music gets louder. It was an easy set-up... Just plug and play. The remote is basic and has good range. The different instruments are easily identifiable which is good for hip-hop and rock (in my opinion of course). I was debating between the Beats by Dr. Dre iPod dock and the Bose dock. There were mixed reviews between my friends and employees at various stores but I believe this was the better choice. The Dr. Dre dock would probably give you more bass whereas the Bose dock gives a clear sound with the appropriate proportion of bass. The lyrics aren't overwhelmed by heavy bass on the Bose dock. The cons of this product are almost not worth mentioning. There are other versions of similar Bose docks which are lighter in weight. When you buy a product this size, you must be satisfied that it will be a heavier iPod dock. Moving the dock around isn't impossible but it is a large dock therefore it has some weight to it. A handle would have done this dock some justice to help carry it. Also, the cord is rather short. I would have preferred a longer cord so that you can get a few more feet of distance from the electrical outlet. Granted, the dock will probably be set up in a place and not be moved around very often. The general feel and look to the dock is sleek. I would recommend the dock to any and every one. An A+ iPod dock and in my opinion, the best on the market.

    Worth the $600? Sure.

Most die-hard audiophiles turn up their noses at anything with a Bose badge. Well... its OK because I am not one of those guys! I purchased this unit over the other sound docks in this price range because it had overall favorable reviews. PROS: solid well built design internal power transformer (no external power brick!) great bass bluetooth dock option Pandora now plays flawlessly w/iPhone 4 (even over optional bluetooth dock!) CONS: no way to adjust treble/bass $600 price tag The optional Bose bluetooth dock works flawlessly - no loss in sound quality. The bluetooth dock allows you to keep the phone by your side so that you can answer calls and change songs from across the room (or even another room!) When a call comes in the music quickly fades to mute automatically. Previous reviews from other Bose SoundDock users suggest that there were some volume and playability issues when playing music from the Pandora app. It must have been fixed because I have about 10 hours of playing Pandora so far and not one problem. Bose, keep up the good work!

    Expensive but delivers

This is a very expensive iPod AC powered speaker. So you expect good crisp sound even at low volumes and that's exactly what you get. You can also use it in a large meeting hall, it has considerable power and range. You are not limited to using it with an iPod. Any audio device with RCA plugs for audio out or a 1/8" jack audio out can be plugged into the back of the unit. It was bought not just for iPod use but to play music from computers in a network with sound sent wirelessly to a receiver plugged in to the rear of the Sounddock. And it works great doing just that. You have to use the included remote to control it.

I was torn between Beats by Dr. Dre and Bose Sound Dock 10. I purchased the Bose Sound Dock 10 even though the prices was $140 more because when I tested the system - the Bose had a deeper, more rich sounding bass. I absolutely love this system and have not quit playing music on it since I purchased it about 4 hours ago. The only draw back - I didn't realize that there was already a battery in the remote, and accidentally stripped the back of the remote trying to open the remote. The plastic isn't great, but won't pose a problem until the battery needs to be changed. However, I can control the bose which is in my master bedroom via the remote in my living room about 30 ft away. Definitely worth every penny!

    Great sound system.

Enjoying this Bose SoundDock 10 system, great sound system. Was sceptical about the $600. price tag and came here to Best Buy to read the reviews on what others were saying so i thought i would go out and buy it and try it , well i'm impressed!! Really was wanting a system that would do the local HD Radio in my area, was doing an online search on the Polk I-Sonic ES2 but reading mixed reviews on that and could not find anyone local that would have them, but maybe either Apple next IPod touch will have HD Radio, I also had to send an email out to Bose about maybe adding an accessory to there docking system where Zune new HD can be added right to the docking area instead of using the Aux in plug but i dont think that going to happen. Those who think there maybe to much base, if you have the IPod Touch (2Generation-like me) i went into my settings and then to the sound of the EQ and made some adjustment there. Thought about giving this a 4 Star rating for lacking a feature docking port for Zune, but again one good hope the Bose will help the Zune people-Zune new HD. So 5 Stars just because it does sound GREAT!!

    Trade off

I have a Iphone 4S and purchased the top of the line Otter case to protect it. The problem is the dock will only allow a naked phone to dock...no covers or cases can be on the phone or it will never connect up. There is an adaptor seat on the dock plate that can be pulled out, but it still will not allow a mate up with an Iphone with any cover along the bottom edge. So every time I want to use the system I have to spend the time in snapping open the case. As far as the operation; I hope that in the future that it will have more bluetooth apps linking it to a secondary control device mainly to see a vieweable play list and control it at a greater distance. The best buy sales people actually tried to get me to buy a different product other than this.

    Great Sound System

    Posted .

Let's start by saying this sound system out performed all the hi end sound systems I tested in the iPhone/iPod speaker category. It sounds great, and looks great as well. This thing can fill up a room with ease with cracking or distorting. I listen to it all from classical, to hardcore bass booming hip hop and the sound dock does not disappoint. I compared it to the Beats by Dre BeatBox and the Sound Dock out performs easily. Cons: It's a bit pricey. Wish Bluetooth was built in without having to buy a transmitter. If you don't have the remote there are no manual controls on the actual Sound Dock. Wished it operated on batteries for more portability. Overall very good speaker. If sound quality is your top concern look no further than the Bose Sound Dock 10. Great pick.

    Simply Great Sound

    Posted .

I like many of you look at this price tag and say "No Way" but after the 16 years of enjoying my old Bose RoomMate's and hearing just how dynamic this speaker speaker system was made my decision easy. I Love the sound this product puts out. You would think that it was ten times its size from the sound it puts out and has great Stereo separation that makes you enjoy all of your music all over again. I have owned many very high end Stereo sets in my life and am here to tell you that this is all you need for great sound. The only complaint I have is the remote but it is not a deal breaker. I think it could be my own user error.

Best Speaker system I have ever purchased!

    Posted .

This is the best speaker system I have ever purchased - hands down! I researched at least 10 different systems prior to and even after purchasing this one and so far no system has close to living up to the quality of this system. I heard all of these rumors about Bose being a name only product. This system proves otherwise. This is by far the best one piece speaker system I have ever encountered. I do presentations weekly and this system can fill a room of 100 people easily.

It is hard to cough up $600 for one "thing" that you plug an mp3 player into then plug into the wall. I was tempted to buy other products because they sounded almost as good and cost less. I figured even though the price bothers me I will buy it and if I don't love it I'll bring it back....well it's not going back and to get it away from me you'll need to pry it from my cold dead hands.

It's Bose.. What else is there to say?!

I've been planning this purchase for a while. Everyone I know has the SoundDock II Portable, and that's what I originally planned to purchase. I went into the store with a friend to show it to them, and saw the SoundDock 10. The sound was incredible. All of the SoundDocks sound good, but the SoundDock 10 is a fuller sound, with more bass. I decided since I had only planned on moving the portable between rooms of my house and not outside, that I should just go with the 10. It's bigger, but it's not a chore to move (only 18 pounds). I can still easily move it thru the house. I'm so happy I purchased it, especially since it was $539 which for Bose is a big discount. They sell themselves, so it's rare to find anything much lower than that. Love, love, love it!
