The price is INSANELY low for a speaker this good!

Hoping this review is helpful! I spent a LOT of time checking out Bluetooth Speakers - I needed something relatively small and easy to transport - but these needs ran secondary to wanting something that had REALLY good sound for the size. I went into Best Buy, knowing that their service and return policies were really great, and based upon the reviews on BestBuy.com and a few other CE - oriented sites, I purchased 3 Bluetooth speakers - Bose Soundlink Mini, JBL Charge 2, and the Bose Soundlink Color. I had already made the assumption that I'd probably be keeping the Bose Soundlink Mini - but I needed to hear all three for myself. I'm a musician - a bassist - so clarity and solid low-end were essential to my decision. The Charge 2, while a really nice speaker - had weak mids and while the bass was certainly loud, it had a "thuddy", unclear response with marked distortion at volumes of 75% and above. After about an hour, it went right back into the box. The Bose Soundlink Mini is a GREAT speaker - and I really liked it! Super clean sound, nice sound dispersion - and GREAT bass. However, I found the low-end to sound to be forced and artificial. This was disappointing, as I had figured that it was the speaker I'd keep, but after several hours of listening, I found that the speaker was so low-end focused that it sacrificed the mids and highs too much, creating a sound that I just didn't care for. The Bose Soundlink Color was a very pleasant surprise - While I didn't care much for the design #its convexed shape reminded me of my Braun Electric Razor#, I found the sound to be REMARKABLE. Super crisp highs, solid midrange and GREAT bass response - very present without being a headache-inducing distraction. Bose has done a GREAT job with the Soundlink Color - build quality is solid, easy to move from room-to-room, simple pairing with all of my devices, and REALLY great sound. This speaker won't replace my home system - given its form factor, it's just not designed to - but it's PERFECT for medium-sized rooms, kitchen, client presentations and on my desk at work. I've even used it outdoors, expecting it to sound quiet and weak - boy, was I wrong. It sounds great outdoors, too! Friends, co-workers and family are amazed that such loud and rich sound comes from such a small device - which is the Bose hallmark. I listen to a wide variety of music - Jazz, Chill, Lounge, Classic Rock, Metal - it's great with them all. I liked it so much, I returned the Charge 2 and the Soundlink Mini and purchased another Soundlink Color for my girlfriend - she loves it too! I highly recommend this speaker to anyone looking for great sound in a small, tight and affordable package. At $129.00, the price is criminally low - this speaker is a complete no-brainer. Just get it, and see for yourself. Thanks, Best Buy - and thanks, Bose!

    Great Speaker - Happy Camper

I bought the Bose Soundlink Color Red external Bluetooth speaker from Best Buy on November 26. Out of the box, the unit was pristine with no blemishes - engineered in US and made in Mexico. I use my HP laptop with Beats Audio to run the speaker. First noticed the speaker while walking by BB's display of it. There was a demo model of it with pre-programmed music in an aisleway. Pressed the demo play button and was blown away by the sound. Never thought I would spend that much on an external speaker but I would do it again in a minute. It connected to my laptop Bluetooth easily. If you do the following, it connects quickly: turn on the speaker and press the bluetooth button, on your laptop settings, turn bluetooth on and the laptop will search for a signal from the speaker and then will connect to the speaker; then start up Pandora or whatever music device you have on your laptop and the speaker will pick it up. The Bluetooth wireless range on my HP Laptop to the speaker has a max of about 18 feet. I've played Pandora radio and iTunes thru it; great sound, however, it is heavy on the base which I prefer........sounds like an old Wurlitzer juke box from the '50s; great room speaker - you can push a lot of volume thru it with no distortion. I have played Pandora Christmas Music thru it for a total of 10 hours on AC power so far with no issues. I have run the unit on its battery for an hour with no issues. Beats and the laptop do allow you to adjust the sound volume but not the bass-treble-etc to the speaker. You have to turn the Bose speaker off to disconnect with Bluetooth or go to settings on the laptop to turn Bluetooth off. You get an AC adapter with its own special mini plug to the speaker. The unit has an internal rechargeable battery allowing you to run the unit without AC power; don't know how long the battery lasts till it needs recharged. The unit displays a battery charge indicator on its top panel. There is an Aux button on the unit with an Aux input mini jack for other sources of input but no connecting wire included with the unit.

Why Does Everyone Not Own One of These?

So, I was browsing my local Best Buy with my mom and we stumbled these little guys all lined up in a row of skittles colored glory. I obviously messed with a few of them, seeing what the sound quality was (which was amazing) and laughing that this one matches my Bose over ear headphones perfectly. I mentioned off-hand how awesome it would be to have one of these in the house to play music on while I was cooking or doing dishes or homework or just wanted to listen to music without headphones. Next thing I know, my lovely mom is dragging me to the check out with one of these in hand and buying it even when I told her not to as an early birthday present. Spontaneous purchases make me nervous- I like to research things like this before I buy so I know their shortcomings and I know what to expect when I have had it for a few months, so buying this speaker was fun for the 5 minutes until we were going home and I was freaking out that it may not be worth it. I am happy to say my nerves were proven extremely wrong. I find myself wanting to find time to use this thing because it's such good quality sound. It is so easy to grab and take with me to another room of the house and I have been using it almost daily for 3 months and I have only had to recharge it once and it wasn't even dead, it was at half charge. It is very simple to understand and set up, you can pair 2 devices at once on it which is great when I have my friends over and we can swap who's music is playing super simply. I have spilled flour all over this while baking and I just wiped it off with a wet wipe and went about my day. It is very much worth it's price and I can fill the whole living room/dining room/kitchen area of my house with just 1 speaker and that's hard to do! I play jazz on it often when I cook and I swear it feels like I am sitting right there watching a band play, that is how crystal the sound is. If you are looking for a bluetooth speaker, give this one a shot - you will not be disappointed.

Choosing The Soundlink Color Over Jambox.

I've previously owned a 1st generation Jawbone Jambox. However, the jambox wasn't loud enough for my liking. I had my mind set on two options: the Bose Soundlink Color or the Beacon Audio Blazar. I've heard sound from the Beacon Audio Blazar various times because of a family member owning one in the home. Although the Beacon did sound better than the Jambox, I had decided to purchase the Soundlink Color and have had it for about two months. I usually listen to Soul/R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop cultured music. I was really impressed at how clear the sound was in comparison to the jambox. The sound is so clear, you wouldn't think it were coming from a bluetooth speaker. The mid's of the music are heavily emphasized just like other bose products. Live music and music with a lot of drums and acoustics will always sound great with bose products. The bluetooth pairing is pretty much instant once you've enabled bluetooth on both of your devices. I think it may have the fastest instant connection I've seen in any bluetooth audio product I've owned. I would have to say that the battery life is probably about 6-8 hours of use. By looking at the product, you can tell that the design is trying to reach a rugged/outdoor use, which is a good thing. It is made out of a very strong plastic and has rubber buttons. Although the device isn't as portable as the jambox, it is slightly bigger and has better sound overall. I would have to say that the sound link color may be 2-3 times louder than the1st gen jambox. In conclusion, it is a great product from Bose. It is worth every dollar. 5/5 Stars.

I would like to start off by saying that the sound quality of this speaker is outstanding. I decided to test the quality after I use it for a few hours so I put it in my living room and pushed the volume well above where I would ever normally use it and went to the back of my house and the sound was still excellent. The battery life is pretty good, no complaints so far and the battery indicator light lets you know when you need to plug it in very clearly. The creepy lady's voice that announces who is paired to it in Bluetooth mode is... well... creepy but hey turn it on in the morning and then use it as a wake up call for a quick practical joke. I have used this device for everything from a sound boost for my alarm from my cell phone in the morning to listening to music in my garage while working on projects. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a less expensive Bluetooth option. I initially looked into the JBL speakers but price and the demo models I tried couldn't come close to this one. Bose lives up to their high standards with this device.

Great Sound From A Small Speaker

I bought this as a replacement for an iHome speaker (that actually sounded great but had connectivity issues). That unit only really had Airplay connectivity, and I wanted more mobility, thus the move to the Bose. I have purchased Bose products in the past and have always been thoroughly satisfied with their sound and quality. This unit is no exception. The sound is great, and it produces a decent amount of bass for the size... plenty enough to fill a room. And I've noticed that the location of where you place it will affect the bass response and as a result have discovered the sweet spots in my house. Connecting up to the unit is easy as the unit talks you through the process and have already connected it to three different devices. Of real convenience is that the unit has a standard micro USB port for charging. It holds a charge pretty well although I've never really run it empty since I’ll recharge it when I remember, so no problems there. IMO, the unit is definitely worth the price paid and as with all Bose products, you are also purchasing peace of mind that the unit will perform and last for years to come.

If you want a nice sounding portable speaker for a good price, this Bose Soundlink Color speaker is a good option. It is a great value and the speaker is small enough to easily carry around anywhere you want music. The sound is clean, with a reasonable amount of bass and clear mid-range and treble. As with many Bluetooth speakers, the bass sounds much better if you place your speaker up against a wall. The pairing process is simple and the voice prompts make it very quick and easy to use. When the battery is low, the voice prompt notifies you to plug it in. The larger, more expensive speakers may have better bass, but they are not as portable or inexpensive as this little speaker. You really don't sacrifice much in sound quality to get this speaker at a great price. I do own the larger Bose Soundlink as well , but it is so large and expensive that I don't like to take it out of the house too often. As a side note, this speaker works flawless with my iPhone, but my Surface tablet is very inconsistent with any Bluetooth speakers. That is not a speaker issue - it is just the buggy Windows OS. When I go into the Windows Bluetooth settings and toggle Bluetooth off and on, it usually fixes the issue of no sound with my Surface 3.

Bose quality sound and design exceeds expectations with this speaker unit. If you are looking for quality sound not just loud volume this is the speaker to compliment your music. Easy to use and will fill a room with will fill a typical room. The unit synched easily with my iPad after I gave it a full charge. It is loud enough to play Rock/Jazz/Pop/Blues/R&B/lite Hip-Hop. If you are looking for heavy, loud bass this is not the best choice. It has excellent over-all sound with a decent bass presence even thumps a little when pushed (depending on the recording). The Best Buy sales person was absolutely correct comparing this unit to the "louder" JBL or the large Pill saying that the sound quality was best with the Bose speaker even at higher volumes. The simplicity of design and Colours choices make this speaker useful on your desk, at a party or just playing in any room of your house or at a picnic. Works as a speaker extension for your cell phone as well. Definitely a 9.9 stars out of 10 and a very competitive price.

I have been looking for a small Bluetooth speaker. I looked at a lot of them but I kept coming back to Bose SoundLink. I wanted something portable and affordable. All the reviews stated that the Bose SoundLink was the best for sound, portability, and affordable. The Bose SoundLink is great. It was easy to set up the Bluetooth to connect IPad, phone or computer. I am able to take it any where in the house. I love it. The only thing I have had happen, it will drop the Bluetooth connection to my computer and I have to disconnected and delete the bose from my computer then reconnect it again, but all in all for the price and the sound is the best. "Bose Quality". For a little speaker the sound is fantastic I am planning to buy another one for my son.

I had $20 in BestBuy vouchers I had to spend before they expired so I went into Best Buy to kick tires - nothing particular in mind. Just something that was around $20 so I did not get snookered into spending $ on something that I did not really need. I am weak!!! When I saw this item and heard the sound quality for the size and cost, I violated my goal of frugality and walked out with this unit. I have not been disappointed in any way. Functionally it is easily paired with bluetooth devices, never has any hiccups in maintaining connections, and when positioned correctly in it's environment provides awesome sound. You can spend more money on similar speakers and inherently buy richer sound, but this unit is extremely well balanced for it's sound quality vs. cost with the scale tipping towards sound quality.

I bought this for my husband for Father's Day and it turned out to be a great gift, he really likes that he can take it to different rooms and outside. Now mind you, we're not super tech savvy so I've never used Bluetooth but really thought this would be a great gift for hubby since we love music. The Best Buy associate helped me through it and I also had to purchase a transmitter so we can set it up on things that don't have Bluetooth (good to know...). It was a little confusing at first to set it up but once we both did it a couple of times it's pretty quick to do. The sound is really good and we figured we can take it about 25-30 feet away from the music source (in our house anyways) We use it for inside parties and in the backyard for cookouts we just hook it up to our computer and put the speaker in another room or on the deck and we don't have to turn our music up so loud. No regrets on this tech toy.

After listening to my son-in-law's Bose Soundlink Mini and being amazed by the amount and quality of the sound it put out, I was tempted to buy but its weight for travel situations and special charger put me off a bit. So after reading the views for the Soundlink Color, I trotted down to Best Buy, picked up the Color and used it enthusiastically for two weeks in four different places we stayed in Arizona. The sound is great, it is lighter and less expensive than the Soundlink and it is easy to hook up (the built-in voice announcement is useful because we had several devices we paired it to). I listened to all the other competitors on demo at Best Buy and other than the mini, I felt it had the best sound and it proved it on our trip. I was also able to use its charger with my Samsung tablet, another unexpected packing benefit. Highly recommend for travelers and for folks where space is at a premium or you need sounds at different locations at work and/or at home. BTW a single charge lasts a long time!

I was looking at this, the Klipsch Groove and the Sony XBS-SRS. No one had the Klipsch to listen to. Reviews for the Bose were all amazing. I listened to the Bose and Sony in the store. The Sony didn't have enough base without the Extra Bass turned on and when I did it was too much. At high levels it also sounded flat and constrained. I got the Bose. I am still amazed at the sound friim this speaker. The bass is great. Highs, lows and mids are so balanced. I'm not using this as a main speaker for the house but wanted something for the beach and other trips. I have already used it outside doing things in the yard. Just blown away by the sound it generates. It sounds so good I don't even care about the price which in all honesty seems middle of the road for Bluetooth speakers that have any bass at all. I haven't had it long enough to judge battery life. The short review is this: Buy it. Trust me.

I recently purchased this wireless speaker for my family to enjoy. No more gathering around my cell with ears pressed close to the speaker. With this baby you can hear it all, from the lows like Barry White to the super highs like Celine Dion the clarity of sound is simply unmatched by other speakers in this price range. I knew this was the one, I felt it call to me much like a mermaid calls to a weary sailor. The sound is crisp like a freshly prepared walnut salad, it is rich like milk chocolate dripping from my mouth, and it is sweet like a finely chopped pepper atop my Chicago style hot dog. I am thoroughly impressed with the way the sound fills an entire room much like a certain pungent smell overwhelms a car full of frat guys. The fact that I can purchase a case that allows me to wear this like Flavor Flave has me super excited as well. I cannot wait to bling this speaker out at my next family get together. Thank you Bose for an amazing product; just thank you.

I have the bose sound link 2, the mini sound link, and now the sound link color. I noticed i'm using the color soundlink more because all the levels treble, bass, and mediums sound very balanced. I particularly like the percussions that i hear on the color sound link that i don't hear on the other two. I also love the very mobility of the compact color link and with the protective carry case, it is perfect. I play acoustic guitar and record my song melodies on my iphone and then play them on my color link via bluetooth that fits on one of my soft guitar gig bag pouches. The color link will play the melodies i recorded while i'll play the leads on top while i am playing around out doors. Nice huh?

Why did I ever consider anything other than Bose?

    Nutnbutme

I bought this from Bestbuy on impulse while Christmas shopping. Being a musician, I'm very picky about sound quality. More so, I'm a bass player, so a speaker must have a good bottom. I had a Jambox mini that crapped out after a little more than a year, and wanted a portable Bluetooth speaker for my phone and tablet. I listened to the new Jambox, the Logitech UE, the Pill, and the comparably priced JBL. They all sounded tinny compared to the Bose - even when compared to much larger, more expensive units. I just found the depth of sound in this Base baby to be far superior in the highs, midrange, and the ever important bass. It was good looking and very portable. Why did I ever look (and listen to) at anything other than Bose?

I originally was bidding on a Bose Mini-Soundlink2 on Ebay and lost so I went into Best Buy to "test listen" the other various Bose bluetooth units. I must say that I'm so glad I did! This Bose Soundlink actually sounded much better than the more expensive mini-soundlink 2 that cost $50 more! The bass is full and overall sound quality is excellent for $139. The Bose claim of a 8 hour battery life before needing charged definitely holds true! BTW, I can walk well over 30 feet away from the speaker when paired to my iPhone and I do not lose my connection! I own several other Bose products (earbuds, noise-canceling headphones and cinemate sound system) and this little wireless speaker holds true to Bose quality and great sound reproduction. I would highly recommend this wireless speaker without any hesitation!

By the way, this speaker works best when placed on a solid flat surface, like a solid countertop, which couples the small portable enclosure to the solid surface, significantly expanding its range and sound profile. It was pretty impressive the first time I put it on a solid countertop (like WHOA, that is much bigger sound!). Then it really sounded like BOSE. I Looked and listened to the other BOSE portable options, and wasn't sure I could get the BOSE sound signature with this inexpensive (relative to BOSE) portable speaker, but I took a chance. The BOSE dynamic range is consistent and sweet spots are consistent even in this product. Battery life great so far, bluetooth works like a charm, and it even talks to you to keep you posted on pairing status. I just take it with me with my iphone and i am a DJ everywhere. I highly recommend the SoundLink after 2 months of use.

Im using this speaker right now. It sound quality is excellent as you would exspect from bose. I bought it over a year ago and it is still kickin strong. I bought it to use with my laptop to use when i was working and listening to music. I also used it on my commute back in forth to work in my car. Im a truck driver now and our company rigs are old and loud and the radios dont work in them. This is not a problem with this speaker just pair it to my phone set it in the dash and we are good to go. Like i said i bought it over a year ago and i dont see it stopping anytime soon. Aa far as durability goes i dropped it by accident the other day. It didn't even miss a beat or loose connection except for the little scratch on it now its fine. Bwry very well made. All in all a great speaker for your money you gey what you paod for and its a BOSE

my boyfriend bought me this as a suprise just because gift. I had always bought cheapy, junk speakers from walmart/amazon around the 40 to 60 dollar range and they never lasted. I've had this speaker for a long time and it still does the job just as good as day one. so yes, it might be a little more expensive to begin with, but if you absolutely need a Bluetooth speaker (like me, lol) you're gonna be saving money in the long run. Its small size allows me to take this to work all the time. I work two restaurant jobs and it comes with me every day. (hasn't melted in the kitchens yet either - LOL) When im at home, I can't have it up too loud because there's other people sleeping close by but it stays on all night. I can't sleep without music. the battery life is perfect enough for me to keep it on all night. don't have any doubts. this speaker is worth the money and you won't have any regrets. :)
