What's on the box? Bold, portable sound. Water-resistant (IPX4-Rated) for real-life use. Durable soft-touch silicone exterior. Enhance with the Bose Connect app. Voice prompts for easy pairing. Make and answer calls with speakerphone. 8 hours per charge. What's inside the box? - 1x Soundlink Color Bluetooth Speaker II Aquatic Blue 5V - 1x USB to Micro USB Cable - 1x Instruction Manual - 1x Important Safety Information Manual - 1x Bose Support Contact Number(s) sheet Testing/Setup/Impressions: So the packaging itself isn'thing to gloat about. Its pretty standard when it comes to the way it was packaged. So for some of you (like me) that enjoys the way certain things are packaged, you won't be "WOW'D" by the packaging. But... As I mentioned, its for some of you. People that don't care about packaging; who cares? The unit comes in a solid built box and there's a plastic cover that protects the unit itself. When opening the plastic cover, you won'tice the build quality of this little guy. Its quite heavy for its size but I'm sure its heavy because of the way the build quality is. The material is as advertised, a silicone type of rubbery feel. Personally I like the material because you don't get any finger prints! But... You may end up getting a lot of dust, lint, or random stuff on it; pretty easily I must say. As far as cleaning it goes, I'm sure if you run a paper towel or napkin over it; it may end up leaving some paper remnants. If you use a towel it may leave some lint. I'ven't tried it but based off of the material as I've other things in my household with this material, you get left overs when you're trying to clean it with. You get a standard USB to Micro USB cable which is nice but there's no AC adapter. I understand the whole concept of "on the go" but it would be nice to include an AC adapter. That is my personal opinion on the charging method for this unit. I typically don't like plugging stuff into my computer directly to charge it. You get your standard manuals and other information included within the box. So setting it up, it was SIMPLE. Setup was a breeze and I was able to download the app off the store (depending on if you're using an Apple or Android device). You can still use the device if you don't download the app, its not mandatory which is nice for some people. But, I'd recommend downloading the app as its nice to have the standard features managed through an app. The unit itself performs exceptionally well. The voice is clear when listening to music, the base has a great "oomph", and the unit can go quite high in volume to bother your downstairs neighbor. The device is small, but it's raw power as I've posted on the title of my review. I didn't get a chance to test this thing with the IPX4-Rated water-resistant feature. I mean... Why would I? Its a electronic device so its not like I'm going to splash water on it purposely. But, IPX4-Rated is supposed to mean that you can basically do things like take it into the shower (bathroom) and the steam and water splash here and there won't damage it. You can have it near the pool and if water splashes on it here and there it'll not damage it. You of course can't submerge it or run it under water, its not waterproof; it's water resistant. Being said though, why would you do that to you electronic device...? So for normal day to day usage, you don't have to worry so much about splashing liquids on it (listen to music in the rain). So my wife has the Bose SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth Speaker at work, well her co-worker does. The sound quality on that unit vs this one, its comparable and almost similar. The battery on the Bose SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth Speaker supposedly lasts Monday-Friday with 3-4 hours of listening per day. The Soundlink Color II I'ven't tested how "long" the battery lasts, but I'm sure it'll be somewhat comparable to Bose SoundLink Mini II Bluetooth Speaker. Overall, I enjoy this little beast. Its great to carry around to family picnics, pool parties, hang outs, etc. Its a great day to day unit. I'd definitely recommend it as the price isn't too damaging on your wallet and it performs excellently. The only "gripes" I've about this unit's that there was no AC adapter and there are NO information at all on the technical specifications of the unit itself. Personally for me when buying ANY electronic device, I love to know what the technical specifications are. The other thing "which is an opinion as well" is the packaging and the material of the unit. The packaging was very basic. For me, I like being "WOW'D" when opening up a new electronic device. The material is really nice as I HATE FINGERPRINTS but it does attract dust and lint which I also don't like. But with these minor "issues", I'd still recommend this device. Conclusion: Buy it. If you're looking for a unit that can perform, is portable, and can endure the normal day to day usage of carrying around a speaker; its a no brainier. The cons I provided above isn'thing drastic of a REAL con which is why I still gave the unit 5 stars in my opinion. I like the unit, I'd use the unit daily, and it has that "BOSE" quality even though its tiny. Spend the money and get it, you won't be disappointed.

    Great little speaker!!

The speaker ships with only a partial charge so I had to charge it when I opened it. It includes a USB jack so it can be charged by plugging it into your computer. However, it doesn't include a block for the USB and it doesn't include a plug in adapter. Fortunately, I have several chargers so I was able to use my Kindle charger to charge the speaker. It also has NFC pairing - NFC is a technology that enables Bluetooth devices to establish wireless communication with each other by simply touching the devices together. I tried that with my t.v. and it worked perfectly. The setup was so simple and easy that it took almost no time at all. The box doesn't include a very good instruction guide, and the safety guide was impossible for me to read because the font is very small. So, I looked for a guide online and was fortunate enough to find easy instructions to pair the speaker with my phone and computer. I also found a video that demonstrated how to pair it with my Firestick. Pretty embarrassing to say the least. The 7-year old boy in the video gave very clear and easy instructions. I should have been able to do it without help. When I saw the video I realized that all I needed to do was turn on the t.v. - Go to settings, Controllers & Bluetooth Devices, Other Bluetooth devices and choose Pair, unpair and manage other Bluetooth devices. The speaker has voice prompts to assist with pairing. The prompts clearly tell you what device the speaker is paired to (LG phone etc) and also what the battery level is. But if you don't want the voice prompt it can be disabled. Bose also has a free app you can download to your phone or device to control the speaker and switch between devices connected to the Bose SoundLink II. I chose not to use the app because I have no space on my phone for more apps. There's also a USB jack to plug in devices that might not have Bluetooth capability. It's listed as being able to keep track of 8 devices. Also, the speaker remembers multiple audio sources, so you can switch back and forth between a phone, a computer, etc You can also use the SoundLink as a speakerphone to make and receive calls. When you receive a call the voice prompts announces it and you can easily answer your phone with no loss of connection. There's a built-in microphone so you can answer calls without having to pick your phone up. When you end the call the speaker will automatically begin playing music again. The speaker is available in multiple colors - Soft Black, Polar White, Coral Red and Aquatic Blue. I got the the black speaker, but if I decided to purchase another one I would get the blue. Reviews say that it's actually turquoise which I would love. The covering is a durable soft-touch silicone exterior. It feels good to hold it and it seems like a well made and sturdy product. It's very lightweight and portable ( 5.16" H x 5" W x 2.19" Deep and 1.2 lbs) so you can easily bring it just about anywhere. If you like to move around a lot or listen to music or news outside, this speaker is great for that. The product features state that it can connect wirelessly from up to 30' away. I found that to be true. I put the speaker in my bedroom doorway while I was painting my kitchen two rooms away and the sound was great- loud and very clear. The Bose speaker is water resistant, meaning it won't affect it if you get a few drops of water on it. From the manufacturer- "IPX4-rated water resistance, and durability tested against water sprayed in all directions for 5 minutes straight." However, it's not waterproof or immersible/submersible so it can't be used in water and it can't be totally submerged in water. All the buttons - Power, Bluetooth indicator, volume, language selector and Multi-function- are on the top for easy access and the charging port/headphone jack are on the sides. The only issue I had was that the buttons are very hard to see. They're either white or a very light gray and they blend in so much with the black background that they're almost not visible. Battery life is suppose to be about 8 hours. I used it for seven with no problem. The speaker costs about $129.95 and it comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty but you can also purchase additional coverage. It doesn't include a carrying case but you can purchase one for $24.99. Most importantly, the speaker sounds fantastic, much better than I expected from such a small speaker. The quality of the sound is very good. The sound is full, rich and clear and the volume is surprisingly loud.

The Bose Soundlink Color II (Blue) is a real mighty bluetooth speaker that's great to use. My most recent experience with Bose was the QC35 and those are VERY good headphones within itself. So when I got the chance to try the Soundlink II I decided to give it a shot. Immediately I was impressed with the whole package Bose threw together. The presentation goes in line with Bose line up this year, White box showcasing the baby sky blue speaker inside as most of their 2016 boxes has been this giving a clear indication of what the product is. On the back they give you all of the product information, the problem with the information on the back is that it only showcase it has Bluetooth. This is false...The Bose Soundlink II Color ACTUALLY have BLUETOOTH AND NFC. Why Bose didn't indicate NFC this on the back of the box is anyone guess. Bose Soundlink Color II feels really nice and soft in the hand. I mean it really feels good to hold due to the material. Grippy with the soft touch is great thumbs up there. Design isn't all that great in my opinion neither but the blue color adds a nice touch to the boring look. The color I will admit gives the device a nice calming vibe. Right side of the Soundlink II has two ports, Micro USB to charger the device and AUX port and that's it. the back of the device have speaker grills. The buttons at the top of the device are soft, easy, and clickable buttons that bounce back without any struggles. Overall its well built. There is something major the Soundlink II Color doesn't really advertise on the packaging much is that this thing is also IPX4 rated waterproof. Big win there as I already used this device in the shower without any issues. IPX4 does indeed work flawless but again I'm baffled by the way Bose writes off this "feature" even if it has been done many times before. No you can't dunk this device in water but a few drops of rain or shower water drops will not effect the device. Battery life I manage to get about 6-7 hours out of it, it doesn't last long but its good enough for my needs. The setup is so simple and easy that it takes almost no time doing so. With the Bose Connect App everything is perfectly laid out to get you to play your music as fast as possible. It's an simple app I always praised since the wireless QC35 came out, Its an App seem to keep all of your Bose products organized to switch BT devices on the fly but also keep all of your Bose products up to date with updates. Bose Connect App is for Apple App store and Google Play but you can also just connect the speaker with going to your bluetooth settings without the app. The Bose Soundlink Color II sounds down right phenomenal. The clear sound is incredible with very strong bass which is surprising for a small enough device. By all means this speaker isn't lacking in volume at all, the sound can cover can cover an whole living room. The max volume can have a party jumping in no time and Apple music never sound so great. Call quality is good when its good...but when its bad it can be really bad. This isn't the fault of Bose, this is just due to if someone else on the other line doesn't have a good phone service, The sound can be really muddy. I tried a few phone calls on Facetime and was clear, loud, and I can hear everything in the background. Regardless sound for this bluetooth speaker gets 9/10 from me. Which comes to my final thoughts of the Bose Soundlink Color II. It's fun to use wherever you are, its easy to use with the connect app, It sounds fantastic, and It's IPX4 rated...The thing is it does ALL of these things well. A direction I'm glad Bose is going in personally. I don't need to say anymore I absolutely love it, not only I love it this is something I would get someone who is new and unfamiliar to smaller Bluetooth speakers. I would easily recommend this product.

This is one amazing product for smaller area and Bose never disappoints me with its engineering. Our favorite part was to take it with us on a picnic or listen to it in backyard. We spend much time in backyard and love to do planting and garden work and having this tiny bomb was amazing. Perfect sound, very clear and crisp music. These are some of the few quality we love about. What I like: 1. Design. Its a good design and very easy to hold and feels good with silicon cover on it. Non slip and not very bulky to work with, 2. Sound quality: As I said earlier, this is one of the great blue-tooth speakers with great sound quality with crisp and clarity. We used it in kitchen, backyard, bedroom, attic, bonus room, in picnic spot and never had problem with sound quality. No distortion. 3. Connectivity: Great connectivity for multiple devices. Listen to music from any phone seamlessly and more control when using Bose Connect app. 4. Call feature: Loved the call feature. Communication made easy when I used call feature and I dont have to hold anything in hand and very clear sound received and delivered. 5. Battery: They say it will run for 8 hours in one charge and they are right. I have charged many times but always lasted more than 8 hours for me. Possible Improvements: 1. There is great disturbance when in kitchen and microwave is turned on. I am not sure if its like that with every speaker but with this one it was very clear that microwave was messing up the sound quality. 2 I would prefer it to have some voice commands so it will be easy to use it when phones not around. Overall a great product. Conclusion, Yes, I would recommend this to all my friends. This product is very easy to use and no setup required. Charge it and works great. Great for smaller area and fun for picnic. I would definitely buy more and give it as gift to friends and family.

While I don't own the first iteration of the Bose Soundlink Color, I do own other Bose Soundlink devices. Generally Bose isn't my go to for sound equipment, but boy - these guys know how to make something small sound big. The color 2, while being a simple monular speaker, includes a decent battery, full sound, and great features. Sound quality is actually pretty good. If you sit too closely it sound pretty bass heavy - but this is by design. Once you back up a few feet, the sound mellows out and sounds quite balanced and is loud enough for a small gathering. The sound isn't as good as my original Soundlink from years ago, but it's significantly cheaper as well. The speaker element is well shielded from the elements by both the silicon housing and a internal structure I can't quite make out without disassembly. I will say the silicon body does seem quite durable, as I let my 16 month old son play with it and it came out unscathed. The build quality is excellent. The device is wrapped in silicon with an attractive color (mine is blue). The buttons are seamless and set apart by both LED (on the power, bluetooth and aux in) and slight ridges. From left to right you have power, bluetooth, aux, volume down, multi-function, volume up. The top also has a microphone that can be used for calls, and Siri/Google Now. One short press pauses, two short goes next track, three short goes previous, and hold for 1 sec start's your device's voice assistant. The device charges via a micro usb on the right side towards the bottom. Right above it's a 3.5mm mini jack for auxiliary in. Interestingly enough, the software experience is more sophisticated than your standard bluetooth speaker. You can download Bose's Connect app, which gives you stats like battery status in percentage, and allow you to connect multiple bluetooth devices. The connection gets choppy if you try to use two Bluetooth sources at once, but if you're careful enough to use one at a time, it's a much better experience than trying to connect a particular device and having them fight to be the active connection. The app also can update the firmware and control other settings, like the voice prompts and auto power down in minutes. All in all a huge improvement over my old 2011 Soundlink. This speaker is definitely a contender. It brings Bose quality along with light weatherproofing. It's a decent step above most in sound quality in it's price range. And from personal experience, I can vouch for longevity of Bose's portable speakers. This is a definite recommend if you're in the market for an outdoor portable bluetooth speaker!

This is really a neat Bluetooth speaker, and the sound, WOW, hard to believe this much clear, loud, sound can come from such a small speaker, but then again it's a Bose. When I got this in I was hesitant about how good it will sound, we have a few Bluetooth portable speakers lying around and those weren't very impressive, "this one is". After plugging it in to charge and linking it to my laptop, which was very simple. I was surprised to hear a voice announcement with guidance how to link the speaker, made it very simple to connect to. I tried some music and happen to be watching a video when my wife came in and heard it, she was completely amazed how good it sounded and how deep of base it produced. She had to try it with her laptop, for being a top end model its speakers "SUCK', it may be super thin and lite but the sound is not impressive. She was blown away with how good this sounded, "probably the last time I see it ? " . I have to admit for the size, when I first saw it I was skeptical, but now I'm not. I have some hearing problems and anything with small speakers I just can't hear, everything sounds pretty much garbled. I really need good speakers to be able to hear properly especially in the lower ends, and most small speakers cannot produce good low end sound. With these I could hear most everything perfectly, very clear, loud and the big plus was I didn't need to max the volume to be able to understand everything, "this thing gets really loud. The speaker comes with a USP cable but no power adapter, you'll have to use your phone adapter or plug it into a powered USB port to charge. We have plenty of chargers lying around so that's not a problem. This speaker also has a silicone type outer covering and it's supposed to be water resistant. I didn't try that aspect out but if we do I'll let everyone know. An excellent product from Bose, and I'll update more if there are any changes from what I found. Put this high on your shopping list if you are looking for an excellent Bluetooth portable speaker.

Bose does not need an introduction, the name is enough and they prove it yet again with this piece of wonderful little nugget. It's an awesome and a small portable speaker. It's amazing enough for its size and portability. I received it just last week and had an opportunity of using it with my iPhone and was blown away with its sound quality. Setup: There were three pieces in the box: the speaker itself, the USB cable, and outlet adapter. There are simple picture instructions to start, but you don't even need those. Once you plug this into the wall and push the power button, there's a voice command that tells you what to do. Connectivity is the very first thing I look into while buying a Bluetooth speaker. If you cannot connect your device with the speaker, its a major bummer. My other Bluetooth speaker is a perfect example of this frustration. You will have to spend an hour figuring out how to get it connected to the phone but this Bose speaker is bang for the buck. Hassle-free connectivity is what makes it perfect. If you have Bluetooth enabled on your source and you then turn on this speaker, it will connect instantly. It works each and every time. Frustration factor = zero! Sound quality: Now for the really important aspect - sound quality. Here's my one word review - Fantastic. I own another Bluetooth speaker from a different brand (can't disclose the name for obvious reasons) which stands nowhere even close to this speaker. It definitely makes the music sound a thousand times better. Slow music sounds smoother, workout beats have great bass. Features: The speaker holds two devices in memory and allows you to seamlessly switch between them, something which my other speaker is unable to do. I think it's an awesome feature. I haven't owned any other Bluetooth speaker, so I'm not sure if this is a common feature or something new. The voice command is a cool feature. Other than set up, it also tells you when the speaker is connected and when the battery is getting low. I wish it had a battery meter as well. However, for such a high-end brand you'd think they stop using the small, ungainly power plug and use a magnetic plug like the one's on MacBook Pros. The charger tip is tiny and takes skilled dexterity to get the charger tip into the charger port. I always feel like I'm going to break the charger tip when I try to force it into the small port. This seems so archaic. But for the price, I can't complaint. Battery: Manufacturer specs note that the internal battery holds a charge of up to 8 hours' playing time, which means you don't need to bring the provided power adapter -- but if you do, it's in two compact parts, a USB cable and a slimline wall adapter with fold-flat prongs. The unit will simultaneously recharge and perform as a speaker. Charging without using the speaker usually takes about 45-60 minutes, depending on how low the battery has gotten.

Bose is well known for their amazing audio, and its a well deserved reputation. Every Bose device I have ever used has had great audio, and this little device is no exception to that. The set up for this device couldnt be easier. Theres only 2 things in the box. The speaker and a USB cable. Plug the USB into any powered USB source and it will start charging. When it is first turned on it will give you the current status of the battery. In my case it said "Battery High, ready to pair". So I grabbed my Galaxy S7 and turned on Bluetooth. I saw the Bose Soundlink in the available devices and tried to pair. At first my S7 was saying "Cant communicate with Bose Soundlink", so it knew what device I was trying to connect to, but didnt pair at first. I tried 2 more times and on the 3rd try it paired and connected. This only happened the first time and since then it has paired instantly with my S7. When it pairs the device tells you "paired with Galaxy S7", which is nice having an actual voice system in it. But if you dont want the voice this can be disabled. I also was able to pair it to my laptop and it stayed paired to my S7 as well. Its listed as being able to keep track of 8 devices. I was also able to connect my S7 via NFC with a quick tap to the top of the speaker. It connected instantly and was ready to go. So this is another easy way to connect your device if it is NFC capable. The device has a 6 button system on top. And on the side is the USB port and an 3.5mm AUX port, but does not come with a 3.5mm cable. But I had one and it connected to my S7 easily. Each button has an associated LED above it. Button 1) Power: Green = Medium to full charge level, Blinking amber = charging, Solid Amber = Medium charge, Blinking Red = Needs charge Button 2) Bluetooth: Blinking Blue = Ready to pair, Blinking White = Connecting, Solid White = Connected Button 3) Input Indicator: Solid white = System is ready to play content from a device Button 4) Volume Down Button 5) Multi Function Button which does several different things for example, Play, Pause, Skip forward, Skip backward. It also controls the speakerphone when making calls. Button 6) Volume Up The device comes in different colors. I have the Blue one. Its very small so it can be put anywhere. The dimensions are 5.25" H x 5" W x 2.25" D, and weighs 1.2lbs. But despite being small it packs quite a punch with the sound. I was most surprised by the Bass. Not sure what magic Bose does getting such a small device to hit the lows very well. And of course highs and mids sound great. And the sound is very well balanced. So to summarize this is a great little device, with great Bose sound, ease of connectivity, and looks pretty cool also. If your in the market for a Bluetooth speaker you cant go wrong with Bose. Thanks for reading!

    Great little portable speaker!

When I first received this speaker I couldn't figure out that I needed an extra adapter to plug it in with. After that-it was a pretty easy process to set up. The sound is amazing in all bose products but the fact that speaker is water resistant makes it easier to leave outside overnight or take it with me to the pool area. I take this speaker with me everywhere. It's super easy to just throw in your purse and take it to the beach, the park anywhere you want to relax and listen to nice sounds. I've owned other portable speakers and this one is pretty much top 3! The charge itself doesn't take all that long to do, but it lasts a while. I charge it about once a week, with being able to listen/rock out to it for about 4-8 hours daily! The amount of time I use it im surprised that I don't have to charge it more often, but this is a winning quality with me. I don't like not being able to turn it off manually from the bose app-only disconnect. Then after some time the unit itself turns off. Which I don't like. The settings are really easy to control. Sound is excellent. The bass is a little off-but due to the size of the speaker, I'm pretty impressed. They might not have all the settings you'd like on the app, but whatever device you have should be able to change certain sound settings. The buttons are smooth and the unit itself is sleek and soft. I love the feel of it. It's super lightweight and yet packs a punch! I love the range of it also! I could leave my phone in the house and yet still control it from the speaker itself. Such a wonderful feature. Especially when you're outside doing laps and don't use a watch or clock. It's been a great experience reviewing this item!

    Small Speaker with Great Sound

    Posted
    mikerisner

I've naturally been drawn to Bose audio products for their ability to create balanced, high-fidelity sound at most volume levels, and the SoundLink Color II continues to meet my expectations. SOUND I used the speaker with an iPhone 6s Plus with no special equalization, and it sounded terrific at middle and high volumes. At lower volumes, it still did great. The middle and high tones blended well with the bass, but they diminished a tiny bit at lower volumes. Bass was warm and not overpowering (and I appreciate that). I've used it for music, video, and even a conference call. A couple of times, I've noticed the slightest bit of distortion at even mid-level volume. I did the troubleshooting, and it didn't fix the issue. For perspective, I noticed this in perhaps one out of fifty songs, so it's possible it was simply the song's production issue. iOS APP (version 4.1) I really like the app. It has a simple and clean design that is easy to navigate. The settings are straightforward. The app offer integration with the iPhone's Battery widget in the Notification Center so it's easy to check on the battery. When I connected the speaker with my phone, the app began a lengthy update process. It took more than an hour to prepare it for some reason, but it allowed me to use the speaker until it actually started updating it. And that didn't take very long. PERFORMANCE Pairing using the smartphone app was a breeze, and the voice announced the device(s) to which it's connected along with the battery charge level. Connections to my phone were quick, and audio was perfectly synchronized with videos. And I used this speaker a lot and never got a prompt to recharge the battery. It's very convenient. BUILD The speaker is about 5 inches wide and tall and 2 inches deep. It's not heavy, but there is a pleasant heft that keeps it planted where you place it. It does not vibrate during use even when it's loud. Tweeters are on the front, and the bass is on the back. The side has a micro USB for charging along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The outer shell is shock absorbent, but it's not plush. The texture of the silicon skin makes it easy to have a confident grip on the speaker. I didn't do a drop test, but my guess is this speaker could easily survive a table-height fall. SUBJECTIVE REMARKS I really like the SoundLink Color II, and I can easily recommend it. It might not be perfect or cheap, but I feel it offers a compelling value compared to its competition.

The Bose Color Link II is an awesome speaker with a big sound in a tiny little package. The exterior is coated in a rubberized silicone that gives it a very nice grip. It touts itself as being water resistant, but I wasn't daring enough to pour a glass of water over it or anything. The "blue" is really more of a teal / aqua color. It wouldn't have been my first choice in color, but it's pleasant enough to the eye. The simplicity of its controls is both an asset and a drawback. Many of its functions are controlled using a single "multi-function" button. Long pressing allows you to make a phone call via voice dial. Short pressing while on a call and receiving another call will switch you to the next caller. Double tapping the multi-function button will allow you to switch between calls. Long pressing while on a call will switch you to your handset. Short press to accept an incoming call. And finally, long pressing will reject an incoming call. The controls are easy enough to work with the instructions sitting directly in front of you, but it's going to be a little tricky getting used to working them from memory. I found myself accidentally short pressing at the wrong times or forgetting whether a long press or a short press was needed. I'm sure that this will get easier once I get past the learning curve. The manual with the instructions isn't included in the box. Instead, you have to download Bose' app and connect the app to the speaker in order to pull up the manual. Now to the sound quality. Let me start by saying that I'm not an audiophile by any means. I enjoy listening to music, and I own several different playback devices; but I don't consider myself a connoisseur of audio equipment by any means. That being said, I found the sounds to be impressively loud and not at all tinny. I took the speaker outside and cranked the volume. I was able to clearly hear the speaker from about fifty feet away (though it should be noted that the Bluetooth connection only extended about fifteen feet). The sound was clear, loud, and pleasant. I tested the mic by performing a series of "Okay Google" searches. The mic was able to clearly pick up my voice from multiple spots throughout a fair sized room. Whether or not I was facing the speaker made little difference so long as I spoke loudly and clearly. All in all, I was very impressed by this speaker. Given the size, I was tempted to dismiss this as just another Bluetooth toy. But given the sound quality and overall performance, I've come to realize that this really is a quality device.

Before this, I was using a Beats Pill 2.0 for casual listening around the house while doing chores or while outside on the patio. The Pill did the trick, but I wasn't very impressed with the audio quality. I can say that the new Bose Soundlink Color 2 is a fantastic upgrade! I hate to jump on the anti-Beats bandwagon, but when you compare the Pill to the Soundlink, it's clear that you're just paying for the aesthetics and logo with the Pill. If you want the better audio quality between the two, go with the Soundlink. I love how amazing this little speaker sounds, even at higher volume levels, the quality remains fantastic. I don't know a better way to word it, but the audio sounds like it should be coming from a much larger speaker, Bose really did a fantastic job. There is one thing I liked over my old Beats Pill compared to the Bose Soundlink: a protective case. My Pill came with a simple protective case, while the Soundlink does not. If I want a case to store my speaker and keep it free from dust or for travel, I have to buy one straight from Bose (or go with a 3rd party via Amazon). It's not a deal-breaker, but I was a little disappointed. You can also use a Bose connection app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play with the Soundlink 2. The app feels a little unnecessary to be honest. My phone connected to the speaker right away (and was added as a trusted device to make future pairing easy) without the assistance of the app. I can control the volume through the app, but I can do that with the phone volume buttons as well. Plus, the volume control in the app shows as maxed out, while I can still press the physical button on the speaker to increase the volume further. Until Bose makes some updates to the app, it really feels pointless. I wouldn't bother downloading it. You can use the Soundlink as a speakerphone to make and receive calls, but the quality wasn't as great as I was expecting. I had to walk over to the speaker and really turn up the volume to hear the other person, and they told me that the quality on their end was sub-par (they knew right away I had them on speakerphone, but it sounded "worse than usual"). Since I mostly plan on connecting my phone to the Soundlink, I'll probably just take my phone out when I need to make/receive a call. PROS: * Lightweight * Great sound * Easy to pair with phone/tablet/computer * Decent battery life CONS: * The mobile app needs work * No included protective case * Phone call quality is not great

The quality of this unit and its sound are as high as you'd expect from a Bose product. This is the second generation Soundlink Color that adds NFC (tap another NFC device to it and you're paired) and a microphone/speakerphone (can answer phone calls by pressing the multifunction unit on the speaker). The unit is 5.25 inches tall and 1.25 lbs - not too small or big and not too light or heavy. It's almost entirely wrapped in smooth non-slip silicone which helps make it water resistant and durable against scratches/damage. I would have preferred the buttons to have been more delineated rather than hidden under the silicone cover but they do respond with a solid click when pressed. The bluetooth connectivity is solid beyond the prescribed 30 foot rated range - even through walls. Battery takes 3 hours to fully charge and lasts 8 hours if used continuously. The unit can be powered from your phone and powers down automatically (while you can set the preferred wait time on your phone app - I would have preferred the added ability to immediately power down the unit from the phone). The speaker can maintain its remaining charge for days. The sound quality is impressively strong and fills the room. I found placing it next to a wall makes it sound even better. The music doesn't distort even when you set the volume to max. Because of its portability (no wires + impressive connection reach) and strong and clear sound quality, here are the different ways i've used the Bose Soundlink Color 2: - i've used the auxiliary port to connect it to my Echo device and streamed my Amazon music mixes as well as bantered with Alexa. - I placed it behind me on the couch and watched a movie on my iPad (felt almost like I was emerged in a surround sound theatre) - I used it heavily in my backyard and garage and all over the house (i've been placing it in the bathroom when I take showers and get ready for work in the mornings) - I plan to take it to picnics and pool side this summer. I'm very pleased with this unit and do recommend it over alternative portable bluetooth speakers.

    Incredible Speaker

First off, I would like to say that this speaker is perfect for its category. It is the perfect outside, patio projection speaker that I have heard. This review will be broken into four different parts, being Design, Sound Quality, Ease of Use, and Durability. 1. Design: The design of this particular product is made for a diverse listening atmosphere. The sleek design makes it easy to place anywhere, whether it be outside, in the house, or on the go in the car. The colors offer a wide variety of design for any desire one might have for a colorful speaker. 2. Sound Quality: The Sound quality of the speaker is excellent, clear and crisp audio. Compared to the new Revolve speaker, it has very similar audio, however it is not projected at 360 degree sound like the Revolve speaker. The low end bass is excellent as well and can be felt when holding the speaker. Even though the bass is powerful, it is not overwhelming. 3. Ease of Use: Out of the box the speaker needs to be charged up, and connected to a smartphone or other Bluetooth compatible device. It is very simple to set up, and connects right away. The battery life of the speaker is excellent, however, it does not give the specific battery life when turning on. This is one critique I have about the speaker. (Ex. "Battery High, connected to iPhone" rather than "Battery 90%, connected to iPhone.) Other than this, it is very easy to use and offers a great, easy Bose speaker experience. 4. Durability: Although I have not purposefully dropped or abused this device, its intelligent design and strong build have left me with no worries if I were to accidentally drop the speaker. I completely trust taking this on the go, or simply leaving it in one area to project excellent sound. OVERALL THOUGHT: This speaker offers fantastic sound and a great listening experience. For the price that it is offered at, it is an unbeatable speaker for anywhere you would need to go to enjoy listening. Great sound quality and diverse colors make this one of the best speakers I have listened to by Bose Corporation.

Excellent for light outdoor use by the pool

Pros: + Light weight, highly portable + Stylish speaker that stands out from a crowd + Upright design projects sound + Rugged design. Sturdy construction and design. + Splash resistant + Speakerphone functionality + Good (but not great) bass + Sound is clear for its size + No distortion at maximum volume + Rubberized buttons make it easy to operate by feel + Bose app for smartphone makes operation even easier + Rubberized grip + Headphone jack! + mini-USB charging means I don't have to use proprietary charges + Easy bluetooth pairing + Solid build quality + Bose name Cons: - Mono speaker, so there is no stereo separation - Expensive compared to other less feature-rich speakers - Estimated battery life is short, but is similar to others in its class - No docking station - Cryptic buttons on speaker. Needed to read instructions. Conclusion: The Bose Soundlink Color II is an great speaker for times where light splashes of water might be involved. I loved using it by the pool and during a BBQ. I also use it daily while washing dishes and am not afraid to get it a little wet. Stereo separation is non-existent given that this is a mono-speaker, but it plays loudly and clearly with relatively deep bass for its class. The soundlink color II is a great rugged blue tooth speaker that is both conservatively stylish and well-built. Recommendation: BUY

After opening the box and realizing the small size, I've to say I was skeptical. But from the first song I played on it, I was completely sold. I've used other Bluetooth speakers before but they always sounded, for the most part, thin and tinny. Or if they sounded good, they were always too big to be practical. This guy has so much clear bass I couldn't believe it came from such a small package. Right out of the box, it was easy to set up and connected to my S5 right away. I used a DLNA music app to play music from my NAS drive and it streamed right to the SoundLink through the Bluetooth connection with my phone. It couldn't possibly have been any easier. Music on my phone played just as easily and everything sounded like it was playing on something ten times the size. Very clear sound with punchy bass. When I started to turn up the volume, it had power to spare. I wasn't able to see exactly how loud it went because I didn't need to go up any higher. There's an app from Bose that you can load if you want to, but you don't need it to use the SoundLink. Just connect it via Bluetooth just like any other device, and you're all set to go. The app allows you to actually view the settings of the SoundLink and has some helpful info and links to the manual among other things. It can actually connect to two different devices at the same time, and the app will also help you to choose which ones you want to connect to (or disconnect from). The outside surface has a rubbery feel to it and a nice shape that's easy to hold. Likewise the buttons on the top for power, volume, Bluetooth, etc. have a very nice tactile feel to them. There's also a 3.5mm auxiliary input if you would rather connect that way. All in all, I was blown away by the entire device. Fantastic sound, great size and feel, and the ability to charge the battery and put it any place you want without having to consider where the power outlets are make this a no brainer.

This is a review not ONLY about the new (and improved) Soundlink Color II, BUT also a review of the Best Buy Geek Squad Protection program. Let me first begin by giving MAJOR kudos to the Protection Program. I typically don't purchase the extra insurance, BUT wanting to fully enjoy my Soundlink out and about, I did. Anyway, 1 year in and my original sound link was having difficulty staying connected to any BT device. To the rescue came the Best Buy Protection Program! It was as easy as 1-2-3! Couldn't have been easier, AND SO glad I purchased it. They evaluated the OG Soundlink and replaced it IN STORE with the model they had in stock, The Soundlink Color 2. AMAZING! I'll ALWAYS purchase the extra Geek Squad protection from NOW ON! It was really worth it! Without it, I'd have been out another $130 to get the Soundlink, b/c mine wasn't working right after a little over a year. NOW, onto the new design. I have to say, I'm a fan of the rubberized soft look. It's sharp, sleek, and seems more durable. I haven't put it to the test yet, but I'm a big fan of the splash resistant specs, as I like to listen to the radio in the bathroom while showering (NOT IN THE SHOWER) as it's not waterproof, but the moisture is okay with this one, So I'm happy about that. The BT seems to have better range. I know it technically doesn't say so in the specs, BUT. . As compared to my first speaker this is Noticeably better. When it gets a little warmer, I'll do a real distance check as I did with the first one measuring straight distance and marking out the range without cutoff, but the OG never seemed to make the mark it claimed. This unit seems to hold strong even rooms away. We shall see. So all in all, a thumbs up for the new design and features, and TWO THUMBS UP for BEST BUY! If I typically had shrugged off BB Geek Squad protection in the past, NEVER AGAIN... It was WELL WORTH IT!

Perfect speaker to carry with you on the go. This is a personal speaker that is meant for relatively small rooms or when your several feet away. This does produced room filling sound but because of its size, it handles various music genres differently in order to deliver consistent quality in bass and treble. This means dialogue might sound quieter at points when the volume is at higher levels. I still give this product 5 stars because if it's used in the correct environment, the sound quality is superb at any volume. The smartphone app works well with Bluetooth and the speaker can sync with smart watches like the Apple Watch to control volume and playlists as well. I rarely had connection issues during play. The battery lasts around 6-8 hours and charges in about 2 hours. The speaker itself has a nice velvety like finish to it, with the minimalist design blending well in any room. There's an option to have audio guidance for settings control which speaks aloud whatever function you switch to. This feature is useful for when you have multiple Bluetooth devices synced making it easier to know which connection is currently in use.

The SoundLink Color II delivers excellent sound, with a rich blend of lows, mids, and highs. It does a great job of filling our rooms with distortion free music at all volume levels. Operating the speaker is easy thanks to the helpful voice prompts and intuitive button icons and status lights. I was able to pair it quickly and easily with my Android smartphone using the NFC "tap to connect" feature. One touch between the back of my phone and the top of the speaker and I was ready to go. No buttons or settings menus to mess with. We also paired the SoundLink Color II with an iPhone in our household that doesn't have the "tap to connect" technology, It was still very easy to do using the phone's built-in Bluetooth menu. On both phones, we also tried using the Bose Connect software, which provides a few additional settings, but is not required for use, and didn't really seem to be particularly useful. It's great that the speaker remembers multiple audio sources, so you can switch back and forth between a phone, a computer, an MP3 player. The SoundLink Color II has a sturdy feel and a rubberized soft-touch finish that feels high quality. There are no rattling parts, loose seams, or any other visual defects. So far we've mostly used it in rooms around our home, but it's small and portable enough to take along when we travel or get together with friends.

I wanted to experience this product because I have a bluetooth speaker but it isn't portable and it isn't waterproof. The Soundlink Color II has both of these features and I must say that this speaker is AMAZING! I love that it is small and portable but it is also sturdy. I used the speaker at a rainy tailgate and it worked perfectly throughout the whole tailgate and continues to work perfectly. I am frequently outside whether at tailgates, the pool, cookouts, or camping and it is so great to be able to listen to music without having to worry about draining the car battery! I also love that on the bottom of the speaker there is a pad which prevents the speaker from sliding off surfaces. The speaker was incredibly easy to use, I turned it on and it was ready to pair with my phone. The volume and clarity of sound is great, I listen to a variety of genres of music and they all sound awesome. If you are looking for a bluetooth speaker, I would most definitely recommend the SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker II. I use it in my home more than my old one, which I haven't turned on since I received this speaker. Whether you want the speaker for in home, outdoor, stationary or portable use, this speaker is what you want. Great product and would most definitely recommend, it is totally worth your money!
