Review for Bose SoundLink Plus Bluetooth Speaker The new SoundLink Plus speaker from Bose is a sweet combination of portability and performance. It’s solidly built and hefty for its size, but the 20 hour battery life and the booming base are well worth the weight. With a waterproof rating of IP67, it’s easy to take it by the pool or outdoors without worrying about problems. I like the balance of it. It sits solidly and the buttons are easy to use. The rope handle is both soft and strong and makes carrying the speaker convenient. Pairing with any Bluetooth device is fast and straightforward. Best of all is the sound. Bose audio quality shines through with rich bass and sparkling treble. The Bose app lets me adjust the equalization for the environment. If you have another Soundlink speaker you can connect the two for synched audio, called party mode or if you have a pair of Soundlink Plus speakers you can create a stereo setup. Stereo and Party mode both use the Shortcut button to link the speakers. You can also program the Shortcut button inside the app. Bose says the battery life for the speaker is 20 hours and requires five hours for a complete charge. Also included is a USB C charge out capacity, which allows me to charge a phone or portable device in order to keep the music going all day!

Good speaker but the bass overwhelms the high end. Two Bose SoundLink Flex Gen 2's in stereo mode sound significantly better. Use the Sennheiser BTD 700 for Snapdragon sound aptX Lossless and aptX Low Latency.

A little more base at higher volumes would be better. Low to medium volume the base is perfect.

From the moment you open the packaging, it is clear that this Bluetooth speaker is substantial. Especially if weight is a measure. The case is solid and simple in design. Front and rear grills are black metal with an array of perforations in the front and back, surrounded by a soft feel rubber – extending down a bit from top, bottom, and sides in the back. The top features six indentions serving as control “buttons”. Other than the rear grill, there is a sole USB-C charging port on the rear panel of the speaker. The speaker is shipped with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. You must supply your own power block. Just because I could, I loaded the Bose App on my Android phone. At first, I thought the only benefit might be to receive additional special deals via email from Bose, because of course we all need more emails in our in-box. But I could also be notified of software updates for my Bose Sound Link Plus speaker – whatever that might consist of. The speaker paired effortlessly to my Samsung Galaxy 22 phone, as well as my Sony Digital Walkman. I have the Walkman, because just like with automobiles, I would rather own and not lease my music. Getting back to the Bose App, it remembers the last two devices it was connected to. This led to a serendipitous discovery – while playing music from the Walkman, when I opened the Bose App in my phone, I found I could start or stop tracks of music from my phone. It also allows the user to use the speaker as a power bank to charge your phone. OK, I am glad I loaded the App. While the owner’s manual describes three ways to pair a device. Honestly, it paired so quickly and intuitively, that I must have been using the Android “Fast Pair” capability. I know it was not via the Bose App. Performance. How does this speaker make me feel? I’d say happy - like other Bose speakers in my home via a traditional Stereo / Surround Sound setup, as well as in my car. There is not a lot to complain about with a nice Bose speaker. This one has solid bass, as well as enjoyable treble. As it sits on my desk pull out and I play the “In Step” album by Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Peter Gabriel’s “I/O” release, I can feel the bass on the surface of the side pull of the desk out as the music plays. Getting back to my digital Walkman - I like the fact that I can slide in a micro-SD card and store up to 512 GB of music, but trying to play through my other Bluetooth Speakers in an open room or patio and at full volume – the volume level is wimpy at best. You really need to connect it to a Stereo receiver to amplify the sound. Music from my phone and other Bluetooth Speakers do not suffer as much as the Walkman. But this Bose Beast of a Speaker – will sufficiently play at a volume that will satisfy the entire party on the patio, even when using my Walkman. You can use the integrated loop to carry or attach the speaker to something. The loop is so robust, you could probably tow a car with it. You can easily link to another Bose Speaker, Bose Smart Speaker, or Bose Smart Soundbar – if those devices are available to you. Some portable speakers claim to be “water resistant”, this speaker is fully “water proof” and can stay underwater at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Now I am not sure what type of music you play underwater, but this tough guy can do it. However, you cannot charge the speaker until the speaker connection is completely dry. If you attempt to charge the speaker and moisture is detected, the power light will blink white and amber alternating. There are language selectable voice prompts that can be activated or inactivated letting you know what devices are connected, battery level, and can guide you through the Bluetooth connection process. However, there are no blinking lights or voice prompts that tell you when to turn off the music, go to bed, leave the party, or call Uber for a ride – although that may come with a future software update. I think the Bose Sound Link Plus takes portable Bluetooth Speakers to a new level.

It’s been a while since I’ve tried a new Bluetooth speaker, but the audio from the Soundlink Plus absolutely blew me away. Technology marches on. Plenty of clean bass, the highs were there too. The singer’s voice was so smooth and clear, it was as if she was in the room with me. I’m old, and in my day, you needed a big bookshelf speaker and an expensive stereo receiver costing almost a grand to get sound this good. I was amazed that this sound I was hearing originated wirelessly from my little smartphone. What I first noticed about the Soundlink Plus is its SOLID. When I took it out of the box, you could just feel how well-made it is. It paired quickly to my phone. When you turn on the power, it immediately tells you the battery level. Speaking of battery, it lasts TWENTY HOURS of play time and will charge from zero to 100 per cent in just 4 hours. Another plus from this speaker is its USB-C port not only can be used to charge its battery but can also be used to charge your smartphone. This can be helpful if you’re on a camping trip, and there’s not an A/C outlet around to keep your phone running. The speaker is ip67 rated, so in spite of its solid weight of 3.3 pounds, if it accidentally gets dropped into a pool or lake, the speaker can handle it. Unlike what you would suspect, it actually floats, so you don’t have to jump in after it. And since you shouldn’t charge a wet speaker, it has indicator lights to tell you when it’s dry enough to charge. When you download the Bose app to your phone, you’ll find an equalizer for you to custom the sound to your liking. You can choose a pre-defined audio setting or create your own. You only have a ‘bass’ ‘midrange’ and ‘treble’ adjustment. I didn’t find that a problem. It was easy to tailor the sound just the way I wanted it. This may be obvious, but this Bose speaker is just mono. I’ve seen other Bluetooth speakers with two drivers for stereo, however if you have another Soundlink Plus speakers or even a different model Bose speaker, you CAN use the stereo switch on the app to turn them into left and right stereo speakers. Bottom line, the Soundlink Plus just blew me away. Great sound, solid build and long battery life. It’s worth a listen next time you’re in Best Buy.

Sounds not Bose like sound. Just like average. I’ve seen much better.

The Bose Soundlink Plus is the newest product in the Soundlink line. It's larger than the Soundlink Flex and boasts a better advertised battery life. The Soundlink Plus is basically the middle ground between the Max and Flex model. I test the speaker for about 8 hours. The out of the box sound didn't sound great to me so I went on the Bose App and adjusted the settings. After I made the adjustments I was blown away but how good the speaker sounded. For a small speaker it provides enough volume to fill up a whole room and sounded great doing so. The Soundlink Plus provided some nice pounding bass while hitting the highs with great clarity. I mainly listen to rock music and the guitars sounded clean and the kick drum made a nice thump. The sound didn't sound muffled or distorted. The Soundlink Plus definitely provides premium sound that you would expect from Bose. After the 8 hours my speaker still said it had 60% battery life remaining which lines up with what Bose was advertising. The only weird thing about the speak is the attached handle. The cord is way too small to fit around your hand and doesn't stretch. I suppose you could attach it to a bag with a hook or carry it with one finger through the loop. I personally would have liked the handle to stretch so you could put your hand through it for ease of carrying. I believe the Soundlink Plus is a great bluetooth speaker. You get premium sound, a really long 20-hour battery life and ease of portability. I'd would very much recommend this product if you're in the market for a blue tooth speaker.

I've owned many Bose products and over time, I have realized that they all have a very specific sound profile. All have been very bass forward, muddy and heavy. I've become pretty weary of that sound profile but decided to give Bose one last try with this new SoundLink Plus portable speaker. The box contains the SoundLink Plus unit as well as a USB C charging cable. The speaker is small-to-medium sized and made of a rubberized exterior material along with a thick braided carrying/hanging loop. The unit is heavier than I imagined but that's not really problem. I chose the back unit but it also comes in Blue Dusk and Citrus Yellow if you want something more colorful. The function buttons are on the top and consist of: power, bluetooth pairing, shortcut, volume up/down and play/pause (skip forward, skip backward). All are self explanatory but the shortcut button is only used for Bose speaker linking or for Spotify Tap, if you have additional compatible Bose speakers or a Spotify account. I have neither so I couldn't test out this feature. For Android users, this speaker features Snapdragon Sound for optimized Android devices. The USB C charging port is on the back of the unit, and it fully charges in 5 hours while provided roughly 20 hours of playback (4 hours at full volume). There is also an auto off timer for battery management which can be disabled. The unit is rated IP67 and IP64 so it's waterproof (30 minutes up to 3.3ft) and dust-proof so you can feel safe using it by the pool or at the beach. The unit can be connected to the Bose app and it has a multipoint connection system allowing you to connect to 2 devices at once. Via the app, you can customize the sound via the equalizer. That's really about it for additional app functions worth mentioning. Honestly, it's pretty weak but maybe they will add additional features down the line. Playback was exactly as I suspected...the traditional Bose sound profile with all its heavy bass. I've been playing music from my iTunes account as well as several streaming services and generally, it sounds just like all of my older Bose speakers/headphones, very bass heavy. As I mentioned earlier, Im not a huge fan of its muddy, heavy sound but I still enjoyed the music played regardless. I have another recent Japanese brand speaker that is about the same size but it offers much more clarity, separation and still has a ton of bass. I think Bose just wants to own the heavier bass sound and there are plenty of people who love that....but Im not really one of them. One additional issue I found was spotty/choppy playback when connected to my Mac's bluetooth. It popped every 5-10 seconds or so. Hopefully that will be smoothed out in future firmware updates. Overall, the Bose SoundLink Plus is a powerful punchy small/midsize speaker that delivers the deep, rich sound that Bose has been know for. It's pretty easy to use and the Bose app allows a touch more usefulness but definitely needs more features. Unfortunately the Bose sound profile is too heavy for me and I will more than likely switch back to my other branded speaker for daily use. Even though it's not my thing, I'd still recommend it for Bose lovers.

Huge upgrade to the soundlink flex, but not that much different to the Max amazing speaker for the price plus the water and dust resistant makes it easy to just take it anywhere and not have to worry about where its placed. Battery lasts an amazing 20+ hrs depending on what volume you play it at. Great bass on stock EQ and can have even more with the bass boost option on the App, will highly recommend.

The Bose Soundlink Plus Gen 2 speaker has a solid, substantial feel with a powder-coated steel grill and soft-touch silicone. It also has a rugged nylon rope for carrying or clipping onto gear. It comes in three colors. It would probably scratch or dent easily considering the silicone but it feels really nice and quality. It's very well made. The buttons are clicky and smooth. It doesn't attract fingerprints but it does attract dust and dirt leaving a white residue that you can only clean with a clean damp microfiber that won't leave more lint behind. The speaker is packed with one subwoofer, one tweeter, and four passive radiators, delivering sound that's loud and has the well known Bose bass response. You’ll love it or hate it like their other products. It features active EQ technology that's supposed to keep the sound consistent and balanced at any volume. It does become overwhelmed at high volumes but it's a small Bluetooth speaker so keep your expectations at bay. It offers up to 20 hours of use on a single charge and has 15W (5V/3A) charge-out compatibility to charge other devices both via the same USB-C port that you charge the speaker. Bose's website states you expect to charge mobile phones and tablets but not laptops or battery banks. The package includes a nice solid non-braided charging cable. It comes partially charged so I fully charged it for a couple hours and have used it for the last couple weeks. One thing to be aware of is that a full charge is quoted to take five hours. I assume fast charging is not supported due to how long it takes to fully charge. I'm very happy they used Bluetooth 5.4 with multi-point connectivity, allowing two devices to be paired simultaneously. It supports Google Fast Pair for Android and the AptX adaptive codec for higher definition audio with compatible devices. You can take advantage of those two features if you have an Android phone made in the last two to three years. I really like the Bose App Integration. You can customize the sound with a three-band equalizer or one of four preset profiles, you can program the shortcut button between Spotify Tap or Speaker Link, and firmware updates. The speaker also features Simple Sync technology to connect with other compatible Bose soundbars and speakers that have a shortcut button. Soundlink has two modes: Party mode and Stereo Mode (only available when both speakers are SoundLink Plus) The sound might not be as room-filling as larger speakers so it's a good fit for smaller spaces or areas where the sound travels well. I’d recommend it for those who like the Bose sound and don't mind the Bose tax, who are on the go and need something solid for outdoor activities, or want a high class looking speaker with quality sound that doesn't compromise between portability and performance. It blends in nicely with modern aesthetics. It might be the sweet spot between smaller options and the larger Max speaker. However, at a less expensive price you will find a three or four options that won't look as nice but pack similar or better sound quality and more features.

The Bose Soundlink Plus Bluetooth speaker is my pick for the best all around small to mid-sized portable that I have yet to hear. The best description I can give for the sound reproduction of this speaker is crisp clarity along with a full, but not overbearing bass. This speaker out performs for its size. It is loud enough to be heard all throughout the room. The SoundLink Plus is not a 360 degree style speaker, but it has good off-axis sound at just about any listening position. This speaker is solid, and feels quite sturdy. The soft rubbery coating is slightly slippery, but the thick loop attachment makes for a convenient carrying strap. Speaking of the coating, it shows dust and fingerprints somewhat, but fortunately it is easy to clean just by wiping with a dry cloth. As far as Bluetooth connectivity goes, I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. It easily connected to all the devices I have tried, either with or without using the Bose app. I would recommend downloading the Bose app for updates to firmware and its equalizer. The app has been flawless thus far. I have not noticed any sound dropouts or connection loss. I believe the advertised 20 hour battery life claim is probably accurate, but of course it depends on volume level used. In conclusion, I give the Bose SoundLink Plus my highest recommendation.

Was not impressed with the sound quality, it was no different from the flex 2. I expected more bass out of a larger speaker

Robust quality materials however audio quality did not meet my expectations considering its. Code brand speaker and this is the first disappointment for me with a Bose brand speaker
