I love this speaker system, but did not realize it did not have a battery and must be plugged in for power. I returned it and exchanged it for a one of the Soundlink (rechargeable) battery speakers.

This sound system really fills the room or outside. The only downside is that it doesn't have a battery.

Some audiophiles knock Bose for the components and sound but I have to say this is a great sounding speaker, I think Bose knows what they are doing! Although it's not truly portable in that there is no battery power I like the added benefit of a remote and the Bluetooth connection seems to hang on at some distance too!

Great crisp sound, good size for the sound it puts out. My only disappointment was that it didn't have a battery option. Was not happy with suggestions of the sales rep. He tried, but the ones he suggested just didn't seem to fit what we needed.

Don't get fooled by the size of the speaker, it sure packs a punch. This is wireless but does require power supply as it does not have batteries. The bass and quality sure is top notch. !

It is a great speaker but not perfect. It has a sound unequal to anything I seen and hear in that same category. However, is not perfect because it needs to be plugged in to the electrical outlet. Future models should have the option to either go with the electrical outlet option, as a continuous source of power, or to have an internal battery in order to take it outside to the beach or for your daily workout. If no electricity, no sound at all!!!

    I wish I hadn't bought it

I bought the Bose SoundTouch 10 speaker for myself at Christmas time in 2017 and it has been a big disappointment. It's the only Bose product I've ever been disappointed with. My house is 2 levels and I've a cheaper 808 Hex TL Bluetooth speaker upstairs that I use. I bought the SoundTouch 10 to leave downstairs and play outside, thinking it was an upgrade from the $70 speaker I currently use. My chief complaints are: 1 The speaker doesn't remain on even though it's plugged in and not running on a battery. So to use it, I've to first turn it on and then it goes through 5 or 6 minutes of the lights flashing across the front. I guess it's warming up? Haven't figured out what it's doing there. Sometimes I've to press the power button 2 or 3 times to get it on. When the lights eventually stop, I've to press the Bluetooth button, wait for the light to turn blue, then go to the settings on my iPod, find the Bluetooth devices and manually connect. The whole process takes at least 7 minutes, which is wasted time. It can often take a couple of minutes to actually connect. Conversely, my cheap Bluetooth speaker upstairs also turns off because it runs on rechargeable batteries. If I've it plugged in, it stays on but if it's on battery, it turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity. But once I turn it on, it immediately connects with my iPod and starts playing. The whole process is 5 seconds compared to several minutes to actually play music through the Bose speaker. 2. Every couple of weeks, it won't connect at all with the iPod. I'll spend 20 minutes or more trying to connect only to get a message that the speaker isn't on or isn't in range, though the iPod is right beside it. I've to forget the device from my iPod, turn off Bluetooth and then go through the pairing process again. My iPod is connected to 5 other Bluetooth devices but the SoundTouch is the only one that requires constant re-pairing to work. 3. I downloaded the SoundTouch app to my HP Pavilion app so I can play music or podcasts directly from iTunes on my laptop but the app doesn't work. When I launch it, I first get a message that the display driver has stopped working but recovered itself. Then the app screen just stays white, with a "not responding" message. I've even left it for a few hours, thinking maybe it just takes a very long time to launch but it never responds. I've tried to repair it using the repair function in the app executable file. I've uninstalled and re-installed. I've even trashed the download altogether and re-downloaded it. It has never worked. When I run the Windows troubleshooter, it says the app isn't compatible with Windows 8, though the Bose site says it's compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10. So I paid $214 for a speaker than can only play music by Bluetooth from an iPod. I literally only get about an hour or 2 of play from it a month because I don't often want to invest the 7-10 minutes it takes to get it started. Instead, I get the speaker from upstairs and have music playing in seconds or I use the home theater system that's connected to my TV downstairs. It takes about the same amount of time to power it up and the TV, and then move through the settings to play audio I really regret buying this speaker because it doesn't do what I was looking to do. The only GOOD thing about my purchase is that I intended to buy all the SoundTouch speakers and put them all over the house, since they could be paired together. Then I could play music and hear it regardless of which room I was in. I'm SOOOO happy that I didn't invest several hundred dollars buying the SoundTouch 20 and 30 speakers before I thoroughly tested out this one. I could have bought 3 more of the Hex speakers for what I paid for this one.
