Clear sound but a little on the underpowered side

    |
    Posted .

I don't know if the drivers are simply too weak, or if the intention of delivering the clearest sound possible forced Bose to artificially lower the output level or if maybe they purposely intended to reduce sound leakage . What I do know is that these earbuds while sounding exceptionally clear and crisp with good mids and highs, are severely underpowered. I have to keep my phone at full volume when I listen to music just to get to a decent sound level which is really inconvenient since unplugging them leaves my ringer on at full volume (you can imagine someone calling you in a class with your ringer on full volume). I know it isn't a problem with my phone because the cheap apple earpods that I used to have would put out sound equivalent if not greater to the ones Bose puts out at 50% of what I have to have the Bose's at. Bottom line. I would suggest looking at other brands maybe Shure, JBL, Audio Technica, or even Beats as bad as they are probably sound louder than these. Now don't get me wrong the sound QUALITY of these is really good, one of the best I've heard. It's just the volume that I have a problem with. But hey, if you aren't into blasting music, and simply want a pair of good sounding earbuds that aren't too loud these are a good choice!

I really like these in ear headphones!

The Bose - SoundTrue Ultra In-Ear Headphone are great! They have a great sound and block out noise really well. I would have given them a five star rating if it wasn't for the fact that every time you touch or move the wires you hear it in the earphones. I had read in other reviews about this but I get use to hearing it. If you exercise with them I can see where it would really be annoying but I only watch videos or listen to my music with them.

    Quality earphones for a gift

    |
    Posted .

Bought this as a gift for overseas bf and opened the box to test it out before shipping. I really liked the included pouch, albeit a bit small to stuff all inside, but then it's the perfect size for someone who wants small, well-protected hard case. The sound quality surprised me. While it is not entirely noise-cancelling, it might as well be in my noisy office. It blocked out the noise nearly as much as my beloved overhead Bose headphone. The buds also did not drop out of my tiny ears when I used the smallest cover. That made me happy as not many earphones fit my ears without hurting them or constantly falling out. The only con is the cable not made of very sturdy materials and looks like they might easily falter or break off. Also not exactly easy to detangle as they tend to stick together. Well, the bf was very happy with it and has been using it every day since. I am satisfied with this purchase and would recommend to non-heavy headphone users who are looking for near noise-cancelling set with rich sound.

    Best earbud within price range

Hi All. Hope this helps everyone out here.. My effort to get a good pair of decent earbuds ended after purchasing this piece of marvel.. Previously i got Beats Urbeats and then Power beats. Powerbeats lacked the bass i was looking and urbeats lacked the music clarity.Though urbeats has decent bass but after wearing for an hour in gym/running i felt uncomfortable. .Slight headache..Returned both of them. Then got the noise cancellation QC20 earbuds.Amazing stuff..Highly recommended if you can afford $$ . For me it was too much to spend for something specific for workouts..Returned it, but will purchase those Headphones since they are worth it. Now coming to Bose sound true ultra, i had to give a try. I was amazed at the noise cancelling feature of it, though its not an ideal Noise cancelling device like bose qc it does Isolate noise pretty decent. It isolates surrounding noise and you wont hear much to bother. People complain the wires on rub give disturbing sound to your music.Well thats not quite true.Wire has a clip to tuck it to your cloth and it wont bother anymore. ..Next it fits your ear very well..it wont fall off if you run workout jog or get into a fight, just kidding. its great..you get 2 sizes as it fits your ear..Sound clarity is the best what i was looking for..Decent sound you hear low and high notes clearly..Bass is relatively less but at highest volumes you get the bass feel..The best part is that its highest volume isn't like other devices.it wont go as high that blast your eardrums. It quite decent to give you a good sound effect and bass feel too..So overrall its the best device you can get at this price..Go for it!!!

    Better Sound Quality than Beats

    |

the Mic is the only draw back on these headphones, but the sound quality is the best, I've heard! Much better than Dre Beats, JVC, Skullcandy, Sony, or even Polk Audio! I'm pleased with them thus far. I've owned this set for the past 4 months! So far so good!

    Decent mid level in-headphones

For the reasonable $130 price tag, you are getting a very solid product. I owned the previous model of this mouse, the regular SoundTrue's. If you're familiar with that product, then you should feel right at home. There are really only 2 differences between this and the old model. First are the ear tips, which isolate a lot more sound compared to the older version and are more comfortable to me in the short run, but after maybe a few hours of having them in, my ears will start to get a little sore. And second, the junction where the main cord splits off into the left and right ear pieces. Instead of splitting of forward, the new ones split off into a T shape, which isn't a very good design in my opinion. Even with the carrying case that comes with it, the shape of the splitter makes it difficult to wrap up very compactly.

Pricey for what they are, but decent

I realize Bose is known for pricey products, which often seem unjustified. I also realize I opened my wallet and chose this model. That said, these earphones aren't worth the $100+ price tag. The fit and finish is mediocre and without a hint of premium materials. The mic is decent but based on feedback from phone calls, it doesn't seem to operate any more efficiently than the mic that comes with the cheap, stock Galaxy ear buds. These are not in-ear headphones. Not by any stretch. I've owned many pairs of in-ear from Shure, Westone, and Ultimate Ear. These are not designed to enter the canal and seal. They form a seal at the edge of the ear canal at best. Consider them ear buds plus, but not in-ear. In-ear models should come with a wide assortment of ear tips to ensure you achieve a good seal. These come with three sizes of the same awkwardly designed proprietary tip. Your mileage will vary but of the three, none of the them provided me with a perfect fit, which is what you should be able to achieve with a proper in-ear. They do sound good and it's nice to have some decent headphones that I can also take calls with. The separation of sound frequencies is decent. The highs are crisp, not tinny or screechy, and the mids punch nicely. They get a little bassy as the volume goes up but it's not boomy or distorted. Overall I'm happy with the sound quality with music and during phone calls. This has been mentioned often and I'll reiterate, they barely get loud enough to overcome loud, ambient noise. In-ears with a proper seal should be able to drown out a jet with the right music. Summary: Non premium finish, probably a cheap mic, good sound, but funky ear tips and NOT in-ear as advertised. Wait for sub-$100 sale.

    Great earphones

    |
    Posted .

These earphones have the StayHear (in-ear) tips that are great for people who can't find regular earphones that are comfortable or fit in ear (which is about all of them). Due to how the tips are designed, they don't fall out easily like all the others. The Ultras are noise-isolating which makes this set about $100+ less than the noise-cancelling. It doesn't require a battery pack (that eventually will run out) and allows just enough outside noise for you to safely be aware of your surroundings whether at home, work or in public. It comes with a nice small compact case that could easily fit in your back pocket. The only negatives I have come up with so far is these are currently offered only in charcoal (frost is discontinued?), if you want color choices, you would need to look at the SoundSport lines. Another negative for me is the t-shaped cable, which always seems to be in the way when wearing earphones and doesn't allow for an easy roll-up for the tiny case provided. When you're paying over $100 for a pair of earphones, you expect them to be "perfect". These are all minor negatives, but overall the earphones are near perfect for me.

    Good Ol' Bose

    |
    Posted .

The biggest difference here is the noise isolation, accomplished through modified earbuds. Many have commented that these tips can be used with other Bose. Bose denies, but having personally tried this, I agree with Bose. Apparently, they made tweaks to make them sound better, but though I'm particular about sound, I didn't really notice. These are the smallest ear buds Bose currently makes, which somewhat adds to comfort, but the ear tips are less comfortable than the standard ones. That said, I can wear them on average 3 hours just fine. (With the standard ones, I can basically listen all day.) One "fun" fact is that IMO these sound better than most any earbuds I've used for movies...which usually do not sound great with earbuds. My one complaint is the Android/Samsung controls. I have a Galaxy (Super cheap budget model,) but it only seems to work with some, not all, music apps. It's also frustrating sometimes when I change from one to another. The noise isolation level is good, but not great. That said for me personally, either of the Bose ear tips stay in better than most buds I've used. I'm happy with them overall, particularly since I price matched them at about $35 cheaper.

    My Best Set Yet

I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and so I have headphones in my ears for hours at a time. I prefer in-ear for the smaller profile, and the more isolation, the better. I have always shied away from Bose because they didn't seal well, but when I saw this pair at the same price point ($100-$150) of some of the other mid-line models, I gave it a try. Perfect! They sit and stay in my ear well, and they seal at the front of the ear canal so you don't get the irritation that comes from models that have to push into the canal to make a good seal. The fact that this pair is made for Android and its buttons control the volume of my phone (S7 edge) is huge. (Most are made for iPhone, and the volume buttons are useless on Android models.) Even though the cables are thinner than others I've used, they feel of high quality; still, I got the 2-year replacement warranty just in case! Plus, they don't seem to tangle as badly as other pairs with supposedly "no-tangle" flat cables.

    Great headphones

Pros: The best part about these headphones are the earpiece design. I tried shaking it out of my ear and couldn't. It also sounds great Cons: The part where the wire splits in 2 for the 2 ears is designed as a T connection. This makes it weird when trying to fold or roll up to put away in the case. I'm scared that because of this design and how thin the wires are, one ear will stop working because of the way its needs to be folded up to put away. Someone who has had these for over a year should post if they are still working or not.

    Great headphones

I got these headphones because I needed a pair of decent headphones with wires and doesn't fall off. Before these, most of my experience came from the Wireless Beats 2. Loved them but wanted something that I didn't have charge everyday because it couldn't last an 8 hour work shift. So I got these. They are amazing, didn't fall out of my ears, extremely comfortable, and surprisingly durable. The only cons I have about them are if the wires hit your clothing when eating or walking, it travels into the headphones, that can be very annoying. The other is the microphone and buttons are on the right bud not the left. But that's just preference due to the habit of it being on the left with Beats by Dre. Other than that, I highly recommend these.

I really enjoy using these headphones. The sound is Bose excellent and the fit is the best I've had. Once I place them in my ears, they are there. I've used them on 30 miles cycling rides and they didn't bother me at all. I've used them in the gym and have no complaints, they cut out a lot of the gym noise, but not so much that I lose familiarity with my surroundings. The only thing I don't like is the t-break which make them difficult to store in the case with concerns of shorting the wiring.

    GREAT SOUND!

Love the great sound on these. Nice clear highs and thick bass. Very, very comfortable. They just disappear once they settle into your ear. My only gripe is the cord is hard to keep out of the way when running or working. I know for better sound you need a cord, but hard to convince me when my runs are also an MMA match with the cord.

    Amazing Sound Quality, Poor Design

    |
    Posted .

I believe that these headphones have an audio quality of 10/10. They are hands down the best ear buds for sound quality that I have tried, and I have gone through many. The downfall comes in the quality of the cord. It is extremely thin gauged wire, good for weight sure, but terrible for durability and toughness. Then you have the design of the "plug". I use these with my Galaxy Note 4, therefore they are subject to the turmoil of my pockets. The plug is about an inch of hard rubber that tapers thick to thin from the phone to the cord. Where the cord meets the hard rubber I am already seeing signs of serious wear, its been about a month and a week now that I have had them and use them probably 15-20 hours a week depending on my duties at work. I can see that here in the next few weeks I will have to go in and use the insurance that I bought with them do to the cord breaking. Buy the over ear headphones.

      Hello DeeJay,

Thank you for the very favorable comments about the sound. It's always a tough call when designing the audio connector. As many phones are now kept in thick cases, the connector must be able to fit in as many as possible and the L shaped design made this impossible. We also suggest storing your headphones in their case to prevent any damage that may occur in your pocket.

If your headphones are not working properly, we want to help. Please contact our technical service team at product_support@bose.com or call 1-800-379-2073 for assistance. Support hours are Monday - Friday 9:00AM to 9:00PM and Saturdays from 9:00AM to 7:00PM EST. Bose

This is my second pair of Bose in-ear headphones, both of which are compatible with my Samsung phone. I am very pleased. The in-line phone controls are easy to use. Compared to other in-ear headphones I have tried, these are by far the most comfortable to wear---they stay firmly in place when I am running or biking. I am pleased with the amount of bass given the fact they are ear buds and not over the ear headphones. The high end sound is very clear. Highly recommend.
