First off, I had a little bit of visual design shock if you will, the first time I pulled the earphones out of their case. I had this same reaction when I saw people wearing earphones from the fruit company.
Out of the box you get the earphones, a case/charger, a USB-C charging cable (Very short one at that), and a manual which you don’t really need as long as you download the app.
Speaking of app, yes, like everything else in the world, you will need the app to pair, customize, etc…
So turn on your camera app, and go download the app.
Pairing is done via the app. It will ask for permission to access Bluetooth, and from there, it locates the earphones. It will ask you to create an account, and from there you go through a few tutorials on how to put them on, how to create custom listening presets, and how to press the drums buttons to fast forward, go to previous tack, answer calls, and control the volume.
Once the shock of how the earphones look wore off, I found myself watching the tutorial on how to place the earphones into your ear and wrap it around, and I’ll be honest, it took a few tries. I thought I had to shove the sound emitting part of the earphone into my ear, and then wrap it around, but nope. You simply let it almost sit on your inner ear, and then wrap the drum around. I felt like I was trying to put on earrings. It didn’t feel natural, and still takes some time put on again after I had them off for a while.
Once the earphones are on however, you’re transported into sound that is different that what you’ve experienced before. You can create different modes based on the occasion like relaxing, working out, etc… but for me, there’s only one mode I need, and that’s immersion.
Switching between stereo, still, and immersion, I could tell the difference immediately. After hearing still and immersion, stereo sounds like I’m listening through a cheap pair of headphones. It’s that different. Still is good for those who want to sit and be “still.” Immersion makes you feel like you’re at a concert.
The app has an EQ for you audiophiles that need to customize their sound. You can also set two shortcuts for either buttons. You can choose from a few options. I have one for siri, and the other for cycling through modes.
I had the earphones on for about an hour, and they didn’t feel uncomfortable. Almost to a point that I forgot that I had them on.
I don’t see anything mentioning them being water resistant or waterproof in any way, so I’m going to reason that they’re not IP68. That’s also disappointing considering these would be perfect to workout in without worrying that sweat will ruin them.
Another thing that I miss is having a “find my earbuds” function.
All in all the earphones take a while to get used to them, but once they’re on, it’s hard to go to other earphones. Bose has really done a great job with the Open Earbuds Ultra.
Thank you for writing your review of the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds. I am glad to hear that you love how they sound with the immersion mode activated as well as their comfortable fit.
These earbuds have the IPX4 ratings, which means that they are suitable for workout activities and can be resistant to light rain.

The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are the newest premium set to be released by Bose.
I'll start with the unique thing about these buds, and thats the design. These are "Open-Ear buds", not In-Ear buds, which is what a majority of buds on the market typically are. This means that these buds don't go into the ear canal and actually sit on the ridge of your ear outisde the canal, and the barrel shaped part hooks around your outer ear to hold it in place. This makes them sit and look almost like a futuristic ear ring or piercing which doesn't hurt or pinch you at all, but will feel awakward at first, especially if you have always used in ear style buds. Typical of Bose the sound quality is great, I expected nothing less from them, whether you're listening to music or a podcast or just answering a call, the sound quality will be crisp and clear. This set of buds also has great immersive audio stereo technology, which enhances your listening experience. The coolest mode was the Motion Immersion, which adjusts the audio quality to make it sound like the direction of your audio aligns with the motion of your head, so if you were listenining to a band play live and turned your head to the left you will hear the music more prominently on your right side and viceversa, so you're getting a true 360° audio experience. Connecting these buds was easy, just install the Bose Music app, open the case, and the app detects the buds almost immediately, it took me less than a a minute. Through the app you can adjust your EQ and Immersion settings as well as track the battery life of the buds and case. These buds have an IPX4 rating so they are water resistant to sweat great and light rain. The battery life is 7.5hrs which is great for long uses.
I like these buds but I have a few gripes with them that keep them from being perfect in my eyes (or should I say ears lol). While the sound quality is clear, the bass is underhwleming, even at the highest setting its not as deep as some other premium buds I own, which was a bit of a bummer since I like bass heavy music. Also, since these are open-ear design it means they dont have Active Noise Canceling. The fit will take sometime to get used to and will vary by person, but in my experience when using these buds at work for a 5 day week with over 4hrs of continuous use each of those days, I found myself constantly adjusting them because it felt like they were sliding off, despite them being in place.
The Bose Ultra are a good set of premium buds, if not a bit weird to wear at first. For the sound quality alone I would recommend them.

I recently got the Bose Ultra Open-Ear True Wireless Earbuds, and they’ve completely changed the way I listen to music on the go. Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, these sit comfortably outside the ear, providing an open and natural listening experience without blocking ambient sounds.
What I Like:
Super Comfortable Fit – The open-ear design feels weightless, and I can wear them for hours without discomfort.
Great Sound Quality – Despite not sealing inside the ear, the audio is crisp, clear, and surprisingly immersive.
Aware of Surroundings – Perfect for outdoor runs, commuting, or work environments where I need to stay aware.
Sleek & Stylish Design – The Lunar Blue color looks modern and premium, and the design is unique.
Reliable Battery Life – Lasts several hours on a single charge, and the case provides extra power when needed.
Final Thoughts:
If you want high-quality sound with an ultra-comfortable open-ear design, the Bose Ultra Open-Ear Earbuds are a fantastic choice. They’re perfect for people who want to stay aware of their surroundings while still enjoying premium Bose audio. While they’re not ideal for bass-heavy music lovers or those needing noise isolation, they offer a unique and liberating listening experience.

Sound is awesome. The clarity and details. Bass is great for open style. More bass than other open earbuds and the best part is thay even at low volume, the bass is very noticeable. You can feel the rumble. You can adjust it in the Bose app EQ. Very comfortable and the battery lasts all day. If you are looking for open style, get these!!!

These earbuds are ideal in theory but fail on some very basic features.
The good- The sound from these buds is pretty full. They're not as good as what you would get from an over the ear or traditional earbud, but they do the job well enough. They're a bit heavy on mid-range but I wouldn't say it's an issue. They get louder than you might expect and maintain good fidelity. Even better, they don't plug your ears so you can maintain full awareness. It's easy to have conversation with them at lower volumes and with the immersion feature, it can feel like ambient music you'd hear in a bar or hotel lobby. The immersion feature also adds a bit of depth to whatever you're listening to.
They're lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They're also remarkably stable when moving, including running.
Battery life is pretty good and they charge quickly. Generally they last me pretty much a whole work day and some.
The OK- The volume adjustment is a little clunky. Requiring a tap then press and hold. I frequently use these while cycling so it's more convenient to use my phone to change volume. Also being able to tap the device rather than having to press the button would be better.
The bad- The microphone is TERRIBLE. I can barely use them sitting still in a quiet room and have people hear me clearly. Any other conditions are a complete no-go. I've recorded myself using them on my phone and the quality and consistency is awful. Not good if you're on the phone or virtual meetings a lot. This is super disappointing at this price point.
They don't support "Hey Siri." You can still use that feature if your device is within earshot, but for the price, this is disappointing.
I've had many issues with the buds not properly syncing with each other which can only be resolved by turning off Bluetooth on my device and turning it back on.
If your main thing is listening to music, these are fine but there are better options at this price.
We are Glad to hear that you are enjoying the full sound of the Bose Ultra Open earbuds.

Excellent sound! Plenty of bass for an open earbud. It rumbles! Mids and highs are crisp and clear. Make sure you adjust them correctly in your ear, play with them until you get the best sound. Very comfortable so you can wear them all day. And the battery life is amazing!!! I would like them to be a little bit louder because in noisy environments they fall short. If you will be in mostly in noisy environments, go with the QC Ultra Earbuds.

Price - a bit high but expected with this brand
Battery Life - great, do not charge very often and last me multiple walks
Sound - good for what it is, sometimes hard to hear in loud environments.
Comfort and Fit - GREAT! Sometimes I forget they are there. They stay in place.
This is not for you if you do not want to hear anything around you. They are NOT noise cancelling.

So the fit is excellent, you will forget you have them on. Please remember these are open ear so they are made to bear everything, your music and everythibg around you. The volume is slightly low so you end up using them in the upper volumn range but stiff very private. They sound very good. I do wish however that they sold them for around $199 as they are a bit steep for what control you have versus all their other products and even though its bluetooth 5.3, you dont have multiple decice capability automatically as you notmally would, its a manual process. Should get an update to change that soon. Overall, i love them, but do feel they are overpriced. Was going to return and wait for price decrease but they just feel like they are not there and dont bother me like all the in ear buds do!

For open ear buds, these have fantastic sound. Decent bass if you crank it up in the Bose Music app. Fits well for my ears. I took a star off for the price, and no wireless charging. No excuse for a $300 pair of buds.

It’s a good product, can hear the sound very good and hear my surroundings at the same time. The battery life seems good with no issues thus far. The ear buds are very secure on your ear while running or working out. Overall no complaints, great product!

I love the battery life on these . These are comfortable and i can wear them all day , I can even sleep with them . The downside is talking on the phone is super low and the microphone isnt great . People said I sounded low . My boyfriend got a pair and we tested with calls together. We both kinda sounded like robots or like we were talking into a can . He loved the immerse sound for the music so he kept his . I also did not like the style , i looked like inhad on hearing aids or earings in white . Overall i liked these but not for $300 . Call quality is poor and low . I returned them in the end I will only ever buy them again for no more than $100 bucks
Thanks for your review! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the Ultra Open Earbuds' battery performance and comfortable fit, however I'm sorry to hear you had difficulty making calls. A few things the user can try here are making sure the microphone holes aren't blocked, resetting the earbuds, and connecting a different Bluetooth device. For anything else, our customer support team is always happy to help. Warm regards, Fiona M. - Customer Support

I recently purchased the Bose Open Ear earbuds for a friend's birthday after he had been raving about them. He often works in environments that can be quite noisy, and he needed something that would allow him to enjoy his music while still being aware of his surroundings. These earbuds turned out to be the perfect solution!
From the moment he started using them, he loved the open-ear design. The sound quality is fantastic, providing rich audio while maintaining ambient awareness. This feature is essential for him, as it enables him to stay connected to his environment without sacrificing the enjoyment of his favorite tunes.
The comfort level is another standout aspect. These earbuds fit securely and are lightweight, making them ideal for long hours of use. My friend mentioned that he can wear them all day without any discomfort, which is a significant plus.
Battery life is impressive as well, allowing him to listen to music for extended periods without frequent charging. Additionally, the Bluetooth connectivity is stable, ensuring he can easily pair them with his devices.
Overall, the Bose Open Ear earbuds have been a fantastic addition to my friend's tech collection. They perfectly blend sound quality with safety and comfort, making them an ideal choice for anyone who needs to stay aware of their surroundings while enjoying great audio. I'm thrilled with this gift choice, and my friend couldn't be happier! Highly recommended!

Sound quality is great and they feel so comfortable i forget they are there. Only downside was the mic quality an BT connection. Sound was apparently to low or hard to hear and it kept disconnecting/reconnecting from my devices.

These earphones are great for those needing to be aware of surroundings like parents or daily joggers. The sound quality is good and they stay on well however the heafty price tag is a hard justification. Another issue is, rarely, do these earphones like a short disconnect like a second or two. For me it isnt a big issue however I can see someone gettinh frustrated. They serve its purpose and are the only earphones of this category that ive so far enjoyed.

Fantastic earbuds, they work exactly as they are should. I wear these for work which involves exiting a cargo van 180+ times a day and running from dogs and have never had the earbuds fall-off. I regularly go 8 hours without ever adjusting the earbuds or even noticing they're there. I was cautious when I purchased them because many reviews claimed they were quiet and provided poor audio quality. Those people are wearing the earbuds incorrectly, ignore them, the earbuds sound great. They will never be as immersive as a pair of in-ear buds but that's not what these are. These are so you can listen to quality sound while staying aware of your surroundings. Theyre only flaw is that they disconnect occasionally but I'm really hoping a software update will fix that

These were an early Christmas gift to daughter. They are very nice looking on. Like ear jewelry. They're a grayish white color. She had me listen and the sound was exceptional. I contribute that to the open-ear design. Wish they made them with hearing device capabilities like my Apple pro2. Also, the fit is more secure. They don't interfere with her multiple ear piercings.

Overall, these headphones are great quality product. I bought them for comfort and versatility.
Headphones that go in your ear aren't comfortable to me, and I have a bigger pair of high end noise canceling headphones, but they are heavier and can get uncomfortable depending on the setting.
These headphones are extremely comfortable and fit perfect. I barely feel them on my ear. They fit part of the versatility part of the equation. The battery charge is great, and switching devices with the button shortcuts also great. However, without noise cancelation, I can't use them in airports or airplanes, which is probably the best use case for them.
Perhaps, if I sat in a cubicle or office setting they would be perfect, but without that, the best use versatile use case for me is my home theatre when I'm watching alone at night, or exercising in a quiet setting.
Still a great quality product. For the $300 price tag, I want to be able to hear it in a loud setting while traveling. This maybe a misalignment of my expectation and what the market value is, but I'd rather pay more to have some sort of noise cancelation feature and be able to use them everywhere.
If I had to choose just one, I'd stick with the higher end noise canceling headphones, as in the ear headphones don't work for me.
If have the budget and enough of a use case to justify a second pair, and in the ear headphones are too uncomfortable, these are the perfect solution.

There are many options out there for headphones. Those options are usually of some similar design that often has limited users feeling closed off from their surroundings. These new innovative Bose ultra open earbuds are very unique in that they don't insert into your ears, yet they clip on them. This design is supposed to allow you the ability to hear what's going around you while being discreet in the sense that no one else can hear your sound.
Well they deliver on that promise! It took a few minutes to set-up and after having them in my hand for 5 days and putting them through their paces, I can say they are amazing. First once on ears and adjusted they fade away and i forget they are even there. They are very lightweight yet stay in place. I tested them while working out and handled a few intense workout sessions at the gym.
I used them while on the bike and when running. While running they did shift a little bit under heavy sweating but other than that they were fine. The sound quality is the quality Bose sound you have come to expect from Bose. They produce crystal clear sounds from music and the phone calls i had. They actually worked really well in phone conversations and was discreet where no one else heard the conversation.
Overall I am very pleased and would recommend these to anyone who is looking for discreet and lightweight earbuds.

Purchase these today while I started my new job in a warehouse and these are wonderful. I can still hear everybody around me even on the machinery and they are pretty cool looking. They look like earrings but I tell everybody they are hearing aids lol and the microphone is really good and loud environments Battery life great the comfort is excellent. I rarely noticed they’re on my ear. Kind of scary a little bit because of the price I don’t wanna lose them but overall they are great. I also have the quiet, comfort tools and these are the best pair comparisons to work together in whatever situation I need them in.

Overall these headphones are fantastic. I purchased them because i work in an automotive shop. I wanted to be able to hear my mysic at work, but easily be able to have conversations with co-workers if necceesary. The headphones are fantastic at that. I can listen to my tunes all day, the battery life is great. I use them for about 8 hours a day total and they are comfortable all day. I charge them in the case over lunch and never run out of battery during the day. So far it seems i only have to charge the case only once a week! The audio quality is surpisingly good for the size and style of headphone. Overall i would definitely reccomend these headphones if you also want to be able to hear your surroundings! 4.7/ 5. I would say really my only complaint with them is they can be a bit tricky to get in the perfect position!
