EXCELLENT speaker, with a few shortcomings.

With this small but mighty speaker barking out the Foo Fighters, I thought I would share a quick review for those considering it. Purchased from a local Best Buy in December, the speaker was relatively easy to set up, with minimal head-scratching as the instructions are basic at best. The speaker is gorgeous…gorgeous enough to convince my design loving GF that it was the right choice. Sound is deep (great bass for such a small primary speaker) and high tones are excellent. It very easily fills sound in the entirety of the main level of my house (1200 sq feet for the level it is located). The sounds is rich, deep, clear and delicate as needed. Really impressed with the speaker overall. Sound in all music genres I’ve listened to has been very good to excellent. Now as for the short-comings. As mentioned by other reviewers, the mid’s could be better and can sounds slightly weak compared to the high’s and bass. Thankfully the speaker’s app has a good adjustment for each so as to balance the sound as needed. The biggest issue I have is the inability to use dedicated music apps that can then play nicely with other apps in use. What I mean is that I almost solely use Apple Music, and playback will stop entirely when I then use my phone to look / open anything that has sound. So, no Facebook / Insta / Flipboard / YouTube etc if you are also streaming music directly from your phone - which is all I do. Each time a song is interrupted, which can occur just by scrolling on your phone and forgetting to turn off the phone’s sound (and sometimes not even then), you then have to go back to Apple Music and manually turn the song back on...it will not automatically start back up. It can be laborious. Just today I’d guess it’s happened a half dozen times. So, in short - it’s an excellent speaker, looks fantastic, fills up a small to average sound space with ease, and my only issues are the slightly weak mid’s and the very antiquated connectivity for music apps.

the overall sound is full with timbre treble and bass but for such 8 times the google hub there is no voice command like alexa or google for your next song is surely a miss. the app is weak not very helpful. no on off button or next song is surely a bad point, plus it is can not mix or match to the other brand of speaker , it is limit with b&w speaker like sonos ecosysytem. just for the sound is great but need to be more catch up to the modern world in voice command and need som input , output for auxillary for grow to preamp , turn table or receiver

This is an absolutely awesome sound system that blows away anything from Sonos or Bose. Whether you are listening to the TV or just high fidelity audio, this system does it all. It's easy to set up, sounds great, modular so you can add additional components and has a very cool and unique design.

    Full House Audio Achieved

I have embraced the B&W Formation lineup for its all-in-one simplicity and sound quality. And I would say so far it's a seamless experience. Having a Formation Duo + Bass in my living room, 2 Formation wedge in my kitchen and bedroom, I was able to use the B&W app to play audio in PERFECT SYNC. The app allows individual volume setting, and also a overall volume which change the individual volume relative to its current level. It's intuitive and works great. The downside of this closed ecosystem is I can only get the synchronization via the app. Using groups in Roon, there is a delay and obviously not the way B&W intended. As a result, when I use full house sync in the app, Room still thinks that the speaker that initiated the playback is the only one active. A bit of a disconnect, but something I can live with. In terms of sound quality, it does it's job, very well. I found the bass to be too much for my taste, overpowering the mid and high, so I dialed it down by 2 ticks in the app and I'm happy with the sound. The sound is full bodied and with good details, instrument separation and sound stage is nowhere near the Formation Duo (obviously); the same is true with the marketed stereo tweeters, the sound I hear still sounds like it came from a single location rather than 2 distinct channels. But with all that said, all Bluetooth speakers in the same category share the same property, I'm really happy with what I'm hearing in terms of tonality, details and transparency, enough for me to recommend this speaker. The price on these units are very high, but for me I went with the ecosystem and wanted to have to cohesive experience from 1 brand rather than many. I was debating whether to get 2 or 3 sonos 1s or even bluesound speakers now BB carries them, but after experiencing the seamless playback experience and quantity of the sound, I probably won't bother. B&W kind of did an Apple over here, and I am satisfied with the level of quality (sound and build) and simplicity that it offered to my audio experience.

State-of-the-art wireless powered speaker. Tonality significantly improved from the Zeppelin. Setup & Use spread across two apps; a bit clunky. Multi-room, but no stereo support. Distinctive design. Part of a family of wireless speakers.

The Bowers and Wilkins Formation Wedge Wireless Speaker is a wonderful speaker. The looks, sound and ease of operation are especially top notch. The speaker has incredible high frequencies as well as very tight bass with smooth mid range. I highly recommend this speaker for all types of music listeners. You won't be disappointed.

I have owned B & W speakers for years now. I started with 600 series bookshelf, then purchased 802 D's "EXCEPTIONAL"! Later I bought the Panorama soundbar for my TV and downsized to a zeppelin mini, then upgraded to an A-7. The A-7 is FANTASTIC! The only reason I purchased the wedge is I am an android user now and A-7 is more convenient with Apple devices. The Wedge is wonderful and easy to use, can do the Alexa thing and sound quality is crisp, clear, and amazing. I will warn you though the bass is much tighter than the A-7, but the app comes with an EQ, so just set preferences.

Great sound, not intuitive to set up and the instructions that come with the device are almost none at all. The instructions tell you to download an app that does not exist. The needed app has a different name than the app mentioned in the skimpy instructions.

I like the fact that the form factor fits in a small living room. One critique that I have is really around the fact that it is app dependent. If there is a suggestion for improvement, have a bit more open architecture so, it can be more "future-proof"

I love the design and sound of this speaker. What I don't like is the price. Great sound for a medium room or rooms as it can be part of a bigger system. Looks great, sounds great, but i only gave it 4 stars for the price.

    Great Choice for Streaming Music

I'm very happy with the Wedge. Setup was straightforward, including connecting to my home network and playing music through Spotify. The sound is excellent, with a wide soundstage and good presence. I own a pair of B&W 804S speakers, and in some ways I like the sound of the Wedge better, especially at low volumes. The build quality is great, and I like the funky shape. There isn't much I would improve. One would be to have more physical controls on the speaker, including an on/off switch and quick mute button. Another would be to add an audio input option. For the money (I bought it when the price was discounted 20%), the Wedge is a perfect choice if you want high-quality streaming sound without large speakers and components.

I love Love LOVE the sound of this speaker! I am a professional violinist and I actually planned on performing with this, using it for my back-up tracks. Well I got to an exclusive in-home performance venue (a day ahead, thank God!) and the house didn’t have 2.4G Wi-Fi, only 5G. The speaker just sat there like a brick. A gorgeous brick, but a $1000.00 brick nonetheless. No way to connect it with my iPad. Without the lesser Wi-Fi connection, it wouldn’t even pair via Bluetooth. This is completely unacceptable. IMHO this speaker is already obsolete. I will be returning it.

This speaker will not pair in the same room as the bass/flex/bar combo making it useless for the formation surround sound set up. If you buying this speaker to set up independently in a room it will rock it. BEAUTIFUL mids and crisp bass. If you're upgrading from a zepplin air - it is a BIG upgrade you'll be happy with.

Beautiful sound, horrible, horrible connectivity. Loses connection all the time. Can only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi which is a hell lot of work to get working with modern routers, many don't even support that frequency anymore. It's never as simple ad connecting to Bluetooth and start listening. It's always something not working properly that needs 30 minutes to fix

I had a zeppelin that finally died hooked up to my tv for stereo sound. Bought this to replace it. Since it's all Bluetooth now and tv is a few years old it wouldn't work for me. Why couldn't they keep it for wire hookup as well as Bluetooth? Returned it. Love Bowers and Wilkins but they screwed up taking away ability to hardwire. Don't know anything about battery life or range had to rate it so put something so gave one star.
