To clarify the problem encountered with the FS-M-1 speaker stands, I will explain what happened. I bought and took home three M-1 speakers with the shelf stands and a subwoofer. I also ordered the FS-M-1 stand set that was not in stock. I connected and enjoyed the speakers with the shelf mounting hardware and subwoofer at my home. When the FS-M-1 stands came in, I picked them up. I assembled the speakers to the stands. The speakers would not work, no matter what I tried. I brought the FS-M-1 speaker stands and the previously working M-1 speakers back to the store. Their technician could not get them to work with the stands. They ordered a new set of FS-M-1 speaker connection parts. When the new parts came in they were able to make them work after great difficulty. At first we thought they were dead also, but with a lot of pushing and wiggling they came on. I had great difficulty getting them to work in my home, but with a lot of forcing and wiggling they came on. I then discovered that the because the wire connection points are not marked + and - or black and red (like the shelf stands do), both speakers were hooked up in reverse polarity. Rather than taking the speakers apart again, for fear that they might not work again, I changed the wires at the receiver terminals, making the black wire go to red and red to black. In summation: 1. The FS-M-1 speaker stands connection hardware are very poorly designed and or manufactured in that the store technician and a mechanical engineer (me) could not get them to work without an extreme amount of manipulation. I am at this point fearful of even touching them, lest they stop working. I also question if they are making proper contact and I am getting the full sound I should get. 2. The lack of + or - marking(or black and red) on the FS-M-1 speaker stands wire connection hardware is an engineering oversight that I would only expect from an amateur.
