More cowbell. Frustrating dampening of music

I loved the look and feel. I love the buttons and switches. Noise canceling is really good. The bass is great and some songs work well. But there are frequencies missing. Snare drums don't pop, cymbals are muted, Acustic guitars and male vocals sound damped as if in another room. The infamous cowbell in Don't fear the Reaper sounds like a wood block. I thought it might be my ears but other headphones sound better. I tried repositioning, connecting by wire, adjusting the EQ. I kept for two months. Many songs seemed fine unless I was familiar or I could compare. There is a quick riff on cymbals at the start of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car that could not be heard at any volume. Entire instruments were missing from songs like Space Odesey. Most songs just sounded much more mellow than I'm sure the artist intended. I thought maybe I got a lemon, but then I found a couple of reviews that mention the same problem. My home speakers are all B&W 702s and 600 series because they sound so natural and clean. But these headphones are mutted and over based. They would be a nice pair to fall asleep to on a plane as everything sounds more mellow. But when I play something I am familiar with, the agitation of missing sounds keeps me awake. The Sony WH1000XM4 sound better. I don't like Sony's touch controls. But the noise canceling is better with the Sony and they have hardware EQ.

Comfort 2/5 These headphones felt like a clamp on my XL head. Having said that, they provided a great seal which really enhanced the bass response. Sound 3/5 The bass on these headphones is really muscular and tight, 5/5. Really amazing low-end fidelity on recordings however, mids are quite recessed, particularly vocals. Unfortunately, these phones have no EQ adjustment to compensate for this. Lastly, recognizing these are not open-back phones, they sound somewhat claustrophobic, lacking a sense of space. I did adjust to the sound after extended listening but I still a prefer a more open and neutral sound. (My Sennheiser HD 580 open-back phones provide my reference standard.). I found the sound quite similar to Sony's WH-1000XM4 but preferred the BW for the overall fidelity. On the opposite end of the sonic profile are the Bose 700s which have pronounced mids that are too sibilant for my tastes. Yet I preferred the Bose over B&W given the former had a more natural open sound. In the end I ended going with Shure Aonic 50's which have neutral, accurate, and open sound. Noise canceling: 3/5. Definitely lagging Sony and Bose but not bad. In summary, get these phones if you are a bass head without a big head.

    PX7 vs Momentum 3

This is hard. I am deciding between the Momentum 3 and the PX7 that are in my possession The Sennheiser has a wonderful clarity and deep warm bass, the sound is very natural as I listen to the clarity of Luciano Pavarotti belting a High C in Donna E Mobile or listening to the ageless sound of the instruments in Roy Ayers Ubiquity. The Momentum 3 is very clear and vocals are very forward. The PX7 takes the vocals of Pavarotti in his rendition of Donna E Mobile and balance the vocals with the instruments to present a fullness of sound with an enormous sound stage . The sounds in Roy Ayers Ubiquity are full and distinct, you have a clear hearing of the instruments with a full sound stage; and vocals though not as clear as the Momentum 3, are clear as well. As for other genres of music whether it"s hip hop, pop, country, gospel, rock, and etc. both of these headset will perform most excellently. Here is the verdict …….if you want the best clarity and warm bass that is not as deep or punchy as the B&W PX7 with a decent soundstage than go for the Sennheiser Momentum 3. If you want the best sound stage and clarity that is good but not as good as the Momentum 3 with bass that is deeper and tighter than the Momentum 3, go with the B&W PX7. But I am still deciding, lol

Cons: The overall appearance and packaging seems a little underwhelming. The price doesn’t seem to fit the overall aesthetic you’d expect, I feel Apple packaging was more welcoming and the overall uniqueness doesn’t quite stand out to the average consumer. I do wish it was able to collapse as well for convenience but not much of an issue since I carry in my personal bag. Pros: 99% of everything. Sound is overall rich and vibrant. It isn’t overpowering or forced as apple/beats/Sony At the same time it isn’t lacking in terms of punch such as bose/jbl. I’ve had many headphones and earbuds in my lifetime. The sound these produced was so refreshing and fun. Acoustics, instrumentals, and bass are separated but also able to blend to where not one stands out or meshes together. It fits perfectly and each knows when to interject and fade out. Noise canceling isn’t even needed if you’re not on an airplane or mechanical equipment. Would definitely recommend to the entry level audiophile or season listener wanting something fun.

Alright...I love my gadgets. All of them. MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone X, Marantz stereo, Beyerdynamic headphones, PSB speakers, you name it. The one thing I hadn't got on board with yet though is bluetooth headphones. They either didn't sound great, looked odd, didn't have the right functionality, didn't fit (7 5/8 hat size). Finally decided that since headphones jacks are disappearing I might as well jump into the Bluetooth headphone pool. My go to portable headphones were v-Moda XS and they fit great, were tough and sounded pretty good. I didn't want to go with a Bluetooth dongle to get them to work with my newer devices because it's just clumsy. I originally wanted the B&W PX's but they were just a bit too small. Oh well. I liked the Sony flagship wireless ones but they just didn't thrill me. The Beyerdynamic Lagoons look great but I couldn't try them on anywhere unfortunately...I love their DT1990's as my primary headphones at home. Anyways, I tried the on-ear PX5's but they were simply too small. Fastforward and I picked up the 7's. Larger than I want but not but by much. I like the hard case they come with as opposed to the pouch of the 5's. The sound is musical and shows just a touch a warmth but the low end doesn't overpower the mids and highs. They are phenomenal casual listening headphones. They charge via USB-C so I only need a Lightning cable to make sure I can charge all my portables. Their carbon composite construction makes them incredibly light but for me does cheapen the feel of them by just a hair. I like a bit of heft...heavy is good. Heavy is reliable. But I wouldn't throw them at anyone. Long story short, they're brilliant and well worth the price of admission especially when they were on sale. I highly recommend you pick one up to start your wireless headphone endeavor...and that's where it'll end since you won't have anything to improve upon!

These B&W headphones are phenomenal. If you want to say anything other than phenomenal it would be little bulky. But sound quality is well... B&W. Clarity, definition and comfort are excellent! That goes for whatever purpose they are in use of at the moment. They transition between music, audio book and phone call and back to previous use with smooth ease and clarity. Can't say enough. If you're worried about price these are not for you. At this level of equipment price should not be your issue. Therefore, there is no issues.

The music is very good clean and very accurate live band sound. Take a little getting use to. But the more I wore them the better they felt. The Balance is good. The big base is there to the liking just not loud and overboard. I will give Sony the very small lead over BW in that it really depends on individual toast. BW makes you feel as though you’re in the studio making the music. Sony has a real sound designed for the heavy base line of today. I have both pair and I find myself reaching for the BWs more than all the others.

They are a good product, they have great sound quality, the headphones have good detail and instrument separation. But one of the cons is that they are not so comfortable in the first few days. These headphones have a good material of construction, but they tend to tighten the ears also are expensive, In spite of everything are worth it for the sound quality.

I have been looking at various wireless noise cancelling headphones for a while and then I came across these at Best Buy and was able to try them using music on my phone. I was impresses with the comfort of the headphones and the clarity and well as the amount of bass that these B&Ws have. The noise cancelling feature works really well, almost too well, when off you still don't hear much of the outside noise. I would definitely recommend these headphones for anyone who values music quality and clarity.

Returning these today. Pros: beautiful, sound great after some burn-in time (started off a bit muffled). Comfortable around the ears. I love the physical control buttons. Lift-to-pause functionality works great. Support was very quick to respond. Cons: Dual pairing straight up didn't work between my phone & computer. I always had to go in and disconnect the source I wasn't using - I went through a few rounds of support emails but that was ultimately their solution. ANC isn't that important to me and still was really disappointing—I found myself getting distracted by someone talking a room away, even while playing music with ANC on high. And they're too heavy, but that's just for my taste. My unit might've been defective for ANC/BT but for the price I'm going to try something else.

The battery life is great on these and so is the noise cancellation. I wish the B&W app supported adjusting the EQ, but it is still good. The carrying case is compact and protective. I appreciate the USB-C charging, helps with cable management. I use the auxiliary cable to plug the headphones into my switch in handheld mode. I use these headphones every single day. The perfect quality for the price point. Hoping that they last a very long time.

I love the sound quality and ANC in my PX7 headphones. After reading reviews I tried the Sony XM4s and the B&W PX7s. While they are both excellent headphones, the bass response and clarity of sound were more to my liking in the PX7s. The XM4s were a bit better at ANC but not by much while the overall sound quality was much superior in the PX7s. You can’t go wrong with either pair for wireless ANC headphones but try the PX7s before making a decision.

If you like hi-fi and are interested in the detail of music then these headphones will satisfy you. It gives a great clarity and the bass fills the sound but all instruments are heard clearly. B&W definitely have great mid-range sound and will have you wrapped into the music like you've never heard it before.

A couple of years ago, I bought the original PX and returned them. Sound quality was great but the headphones were heavy and clamped too tight and features were finicky. B&W fixed all of those issues with this release. Love these headphones. I'm not an audiophile by any means but they sound great, are fairly neutral and have great features. Highly recommend.

Great natural sound, very simple to use. Love the fact they have buttons instead of finger swipe. Light weight and comfortable. Wouldn't use them for jogging but, snug enough for walking. The auto noise cancelling works great and adapts to extraneous noise well.

Got these as a gift from my family. As with all B&W products, the detail and clarity is unmatched in this price range. Very light and comfortable for long trips. I really enjoy the added benefit of the system pausing the music when you lift a ear piece off your ear.
