Researchers Lillian Reynolds (Louise Fletcher) and Michael Brace (Christopher Walken) develop a technology that records a persons thoughts and sensations to videotape. The experiment spins out of control when the tech is used to record an intense death experience of chief researcher Lillian Reynolds and another of an intimate encounter of a team member. When the military hijacks the tech and then sequesters Lillian's death experience, Brace enlist the help of his wife Karen (Natalie Wood) to experience the alarming truth Lillian left behind. Natalie Woods final performance before her death in 1983. This film is unique in its presentation. The "real world" scenes were shot in 1:67:1 format while the "mind-interface" sequences were presented in 2.40:1 widescreen. The overall quality of the Blu-ray release is good but not great. The sound track is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1

Great science fiction movie 1983. Natalie Wood's last movie. How can you go wrong with Christopher Walken?

Love this film! Just wish film was full screen and when they put on the Brainstorm helmet, go to widescreen or IMAX, to get full effect! They chose a tiny center view for film , then widescreen for Brainstorm effect!

I saw this movie in 1983 and remember it being an amazing movie showing a possible technological advancement and the ethics behind it. The special effects were spot on for the time. I'm glad Best Buy finally got it.

Brianstorm centers on the technological breakthrough of a machine that can 'record' thoughts which then can be played back and felt by others. It doesn't take long of course for the government and the military to realize the benefits of such a technology, because of this, the creators of this machine find themselves pushed further and further from the project. One of the scientist while working alone becomes stricken, sensing that she is in real trouble and with no way of contacting anyone, she puts the special 'thought reading' device on her head, the machine starts recording and captures her last breathes as she passes away. The character played by Christopher Walken wants to playback the tape and finally does, it almost cost him his life.

Another great movie. The color and sound is very good. I was a bit dubious about getting this movie. But glad I did.
