Customers are saying

Customers regard the Series 9 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver highly for its excellent shaving quality, ease of use, and long battery life. The cleaning station and quieter operation are also frequently praised. However, some customers find the price to be a drawback, and a few have noted that the trimmer and size could be improved. Overall, positive feedback on shaving performance and convenience outweighs concerns about cost and minor design elements.

Left my series 7 at a hotel and had to replace it. Best Buy has a deal of the day on the series 9 razor. So I bought it. For the price I got it at, it is a very good razor and I am happy with it. After about a month of use I have to be honest and I do like the series 7 a little better. I would not talk the series 9 back but if I had to do it again I would have looked for another series 7.

I honestly don’t understand the great reviews for the Braun 9. Its super cool looking but, outside a full face one day old shave, dont waste your money. A stubble older than a day requires dozens & dozens of runs. If i had to do it over again, i’d buy a $30-$50 electric razor.

Before I bought, I checked almost 2 weeks about reviewing, comparing Philips series 9,YouTube videos… Everybody was looking so happy. It was looking quality, shiny and has cleaning cartridge. I bought it and just used 2 times. It wasn’t what I expected. It didn’t work very well.

    Wonderful Shaver.

First off my beard type is thick and I would say I have pretty sensitive skin. I was very hesitant to purchase this since I am used to rotary shavers but after a few years of wanting to try this I decided to go ahead and if I didn't like it I could return it and have this curiosity out of my head about what if. Well after I used it for awhile going back and forth between this and my Norelco 9700 it has been tough because they both offer such good comparable things. First, I love both razors and still have both the Norelco for home and the Braun for work since I use it every morning for work while at home I only use it once a week. The Braun is actually cheaper also which is nice. Pros and Cons to the Norelco 9700: Pros- Lightweight, I love how easy this is to handle, it's durable and even though plastic it still feels like good quality especially with the light rubber grip. I love how silent the cleaning station is for this razor as well as the touch button to power it on and the lights are fun to watch and check the status of. The cleaning solution lasts a super long time, I just recently on July 31st changed out the first cartridge I had when I ordered that razor on September 6th, 2016, although I do only use it once a week and clean it every week, I would say it does last about two months on a normal cleaning schedule for anyone else. I like how the blades feel across my face and the speed settings are a nice feature just not that needed. Cons- The blades tend to irritate my skin after going over hard to get places for a long period of time which is understandable but it should be getting a close shave after a few passes but it never gets smoother just more irritated. The razor doesn't have a pop up trimmer like it's previous models, while it's nice it comes with a separate trimmer it's not that big and a bit more hassle to remove the head and place the trimmer just to get a pesky sideburn hair. The cleaning station takes a long time to clean and dry about 4 hours which is ridiculous and all that time pretty much using more electricity I feel than it needs to. As for the Braun I feel it is a way smoother more comfortable shave and does get a bit closer to a straight shave than the Norelco. Pros- Nice handle feels comfortable to hold even for a longer shave. A wonderful pop-up trimmer that is a decent size width and fun to pop up and down and the head doesn't get in the way for me although a bit difficult to see I suppose it just better than a separate one. Cleaning station is a smaller profile which I love and has one button so it's easy to use and not accidentally press, I love the magnets that hold the razor in the station a nice feature I didn't realize it had. I love how fast it is to clean and dry like 43 mins for drying to complete than about another 15 mins to charge the razor so a total time of an hour and everything is done and when it comes out it smells amazing, like a lemon pledge which was unusual but somehow very pleasing, I sometimes like to just open up the razor case and smell it during the day for no reason but to hold it feel how nice it is and smell. I love the travel case way more than Norelco's, it's softer yet sturdy and the zipper actually works better and feels nice to move, it has a low profile compared the the Norelco which fits better and looks even better also. I love the feel of the blades going across my skin even more than the Norelco, it it a nice change to shaving styles from the small circles to a straight line but you can still move it in small circles to try and get stubborn hairs. It's a smoother more comfortable and closer shave I feel, my stubble takes a little longer to come back compared to Norelco and less neck irritation, although as soon as I am done shaving there is a bit of redness it doesn't hurt as bad as Norelco and it goes away soon after. It gets my sideburns better and under my nose easier than a rotary shaver, it lines up the sideburns better since it is a straight head which makes it not that necessary to use the pop up trimmer except in some cases whereas the Norelco I have to aim just right to get a straight line. I used this razor on a 5 day stubble growth and it tore through it like butter with no pulls or tugs or anything it was amazing and felt great, I was surprised because the Norelco can barely handle a 3 day growth, it takes a long time and I don't get all the hairs in the neck area at all, it's always patchy but more fun to watch emptying the Norelco head when finished to watch all the loose hair that it cut. Cons- The cleaning cartridge is a bit smaller I feel compared to Norelco, which may explain why it only lasts about a month compared to the two month of the other. To save it from evaporating when i'm at home I close the cartridge up with the included cap which is nice because Norelco doesn't have a cap for their cartridges. I like that the Norelco cartridge is in the front while Braun is in the back for the opening so I have to move it to put the cartridge back in which is a bit of a hassle compared to Norelco. The cleaning station is way louder than Norelco's and the razor is loud also but I would say only a bit louder than Norelco but not by much and is expected for a foil shaver. Cleaning the razor head when finishing shaving is a bit more difficult for the Braun taking the head off and rinsing it isn't as easy as Norelco but not bad or super negative just takes getting used to. The cleaning station also leaves a bit of a residue inside after cleaning so you have to get a cloth or something to clean that up every once in awhile. Norelco has had no residue since I got it. The Braun cleaning station is also very easy to scratch and leave marks, it's super sensitive to oil on hands or anything, there was a speck of dust on it so I wiped it away with my finger and it left this huge scratch micro scratches everywhere as soon as I took of the peel for the protective cover, which is fine just not pretty to look at anymore. Overall I would definitely recommend this shaver over the Norelco and if I could go back and return my Norelco I would and just have this one to take back and forth from work. If you're on the fence about this I think you'll appreciate this build quality and shaving experience better but it is personal preference and what beard type you have and how sensitive your skin is. I hope this review helps. Good luck.

    Barber Shop shave every time!!

I have been using Philips Norelco for over 25 years, the ones with the 3 round blades. They were sufficient for a long time. I also get a barber shop shave when I get my hair cut every 4-6 weeks (Not so much in 2020). If you ever had a barber shop shave, it is the closest shave you will ever have, I typically don't have to shave for 2 days after I get it. My Philips Norelco blades had to be replaced pretty often, the battery wasn't lasting long anymore. I decided to look into other shavers and reviews brought me to the Braun Series 9. The ratings were extremely high, complaints were low. I was not a fan of straight foil shavers like this in the past for no particular reason. I had always figured the 3 circular blades went in multiple directions, for it must be better. It's marketing hype. I bought this a month ago, and have been impressed. This shaver has exceeded my expectations. The first morning, I shaved up and down, and found it to be a closer shave than what I've had with any electric shaver. You get that little stubble you can feel in some directions, I ran it against the grain and less than 10 minutes later it was as close a shave as I walk out with from a Barber shop. The chrome finish looks a little flashy for a razor at first, until you realize the function to the finish is that it is reflecting the light on those areas you are shaving. I have been using this shaver for a month, and it has been consistent. I could go a day without a shave plenty of times, it is that close. When I'm done shaving, the shaver reminds you to clean it. I remove the blade, a quick tap in the sink, I brush out the shaver section, and wash the blade section in hot water, it is like new and ready to go for the next morning. Once or twice a week I place it in the cleaning stand to top off the charge and get the blades cleaned and lubricated. There is a mild fish lemon smell to that. This Shaver has been much easier to maintain every time I use it, I get the same close shave every single time. A couple weeks ago I went for a haircut, I was talking with my barber about it, he has one in the shop he uses for touch ups and he uses one at home. Good enough for a pro, definitely good enough for me. I am so happy with this purchase. I have bought plenty from Best Buy, I have never written a review, but this shaver has impressed me so much, I am taking the time to write this. If you are looking for something better than the 3 round blade system, you can not go wrong trying something new with this shaver.

First off, let me start off by saying that I have used all kinds of electrical shavers over the years. I have extremely sensitive skin, and all of them always irritated my skin no matter what I did. Eventually I stopped using electric shavers and went back to a traditional shaver, which we all know takes much longer. So, fast forward a few years and I decided I wanted to try one again. I read the reviews of this one and decided I would give it a shot. The design is great, its not too heavy but has enough weight to give you good control of it. The LED display does a great job indicating the charge level and to let you know when you should clean it. Now, lets get into how it shaves. I absolutely love it, I do not shave every single day, but I do use it about once every 3 days and this thing does a great job getting close to the skin, and I mean CLOSE. Sometimes I trim the hair down with a trimmer, but most of the time I just use some shaving cream and run this thing over it and it gets EVERYTHING. My wife has told me that she can not tell the difference between the shave this provides and the traditional razor as far as smoothness goes. This thing cuts my shaving time down in half, and its amazing. I have pretty thick hair on my face in general, and over 3 days it grows in pretty good so for this to able to cut through it like nothing is exactly what I was looking for. There is NO IRRITATION and I have not had any issues with it at all. As I said I usually shave every 3 days, so I usually put it in the wash base after every two-three uses, so far I have washed it about 5 times and the wash cartridge still seems full so I am sure it will last at least 10-15 more times.

I like this shaver. I replaced a Braun Series 7 and for me, the Series 9 is a much better shaver. This unit provides a better more comfortable shave. It appears to handle multi-directional and longer hairs better than the Series 7. The body is longer and narrower and the overall shaver feels lighter and more comfortable to use. It is also noticeably quieter (good for shaving and trimming by the ears). They moved the trimmer to a better location as well (slide bar at back of shaver). A couple of minor complaints. The shaver head lock slide bar doesn't work very well (I never use this feature). Also, the cleaning / charging base looks and feels cheap. The on/off button on top feels super cheap and I don't have confidence it will last. I keep my unit under my sink so I don't have to look at it. It should be noted that replacement shaver heads are more expensive. Overall, I would recommend this shaver. I gave this 5 stars based on the shaver itself.

    Unbelievable Electric Razor

Braun series 9 is unbelievable. There are YouTube videos all over the place on it. Keep in mind, there are NO electric razors, other than electric clippers, that will chop down over 7-10 day scruff. Meet the razor, that will do the job of that spectrum. Want to keep that shaved head maintained? It will do it in minutes, without shaving cream. Do not use water, or take it in the shower... Nothing is going to work on wet flat hair. Shave dry only. Got tugging? Shave it off with clippers, if over that spectrum - first. Then go after it with this. I was skeptical, as I've never had any luck with electric razors. That's ended... I'm a believer. It's better, than any I've come across yet. Will it give you a Mach 3 finish...No. Will it be close... Absolutely, the best so far, by far. Initial sticker shock... Yeah $300 but worth it. Easy to clean and replace shaving heads at eh... $50 each year. Cleaning solution for charge and cleaning dock...30 for 3, each lasting 1-3 months depending on your habit and hair thickness. I think it's awesome. I hope it's the last darn razor I ever own. Disposable razor blade systems and shaving cream, are stupid expensive and messy. Hope this help, it's a kick butt electric razor.

Buy it. I had a lot of self esteem issues due to balding. I found a YouTube channel (bald cafe, highly recommend) and due to the creators story, and others he shares I found the wherewithal to shave my head the first time. I loved it. Instant confidence boost and it felt so much better than clinging to scraps of what was. His channel made me comfortable with shaving my head but that isn’t why you should buy this product. I started with the Wahl Balding clippers. Great product, however if you are shaving when you are first waking up, or in a hurry you will get badly knicked by the clippers. In addition the clippers are heavy. I love the long chord but it often gets in the way when you’re trying to maneuver them around your ears. I moved onto the pitbull gold pro. Those were okay. You have to keep them at max charge for the best shave because the power fades fast. They also didn’t get as close as the balding clippers. I also felt like I had to replace the blades more often than the manufacturer suggested because they felt like they dulled quickly. Next I tried the old Gillette fusion pro glide I used in HS to shave my face. It worked and felt great. The shave was really close, easily the closest I’ve had and therefore the best. However, “bad” cartridges were common. I got cut up no matter how slow I went because the blades weren’t sharpened properly at the factory. The razor offers a close shave but again if you don’t go super slow even with good cartridges you’ll get cut up. I was also more prone to irritation and razor burn with the Gillette than the other products mentioned, even after trying other shave gels and after shave lotions. The series 9 is expensive, especially during this recession. But it provides a massive quality of life improvement. No mess, no hair everywhere. It provides a shave almost as close as the Gillette for me. While not as close as the Gillette, the shave it provides leaves my scalp feeling super smooth. I love how easy it is to use and I can go over my head with it quickly without getting cuts, razor burn or other irritation. I can even shave forward/back bad I’m other directions all without skin irritation. I don’t have to use shaving cream and clean up is minimal. Blow the pieces clean toss in the base station press a button and it’s ready for tomorrow. Well worth the price if you can manage. Again I owe his channel gratitude for the confidence it gave me years ago to do the first shave, and now for recommending this great product. Buy it, you won’t regret it.

I have purchased Braun shavers before. After 8 years with my previous Braun, though it still works, I thought it was time to upgrade. This product gives me an even smoother shave. Very well designed, easy to use, and quieter than the former Braun. I would give it six stars if Best Buy let me!

In 1995 I got my first electric razor that was a 2 head Norelco. Since then every few years I would buy a new Norelco after replacing the razors head once or twice because of the improved upgrades of the models. I served in the Navy for 20 years so I shaved almost daily and also was inspected on a regular basis. It was extremely important to me to ensure I had a close shave. Several times I was tempted to try a Braun electric razor, however I never took the leap as I felt comfortable with what I was familiar with. Being older and wiser I decided it was time to try a Braun and now I know I should have done so many many years ago. The Norelco does provide a close shave, however it does leave razor burn and can more easily cause minor razor cuts. I have been using the Braun Series 9 Model 9295cc for a month now and shave Monday-Friday. Even after using a Norelco for so many years I have yet to have any razor burn and I have not gotten any razor bumps along my neck as I did with the Norelco. The Braun is easier to reach the challenging areas under the nose and at the curves of my chin/neck. I have also not had any issues with minor razor cuts as I did from time to time with the Norelco. I use the razor dry and have gotten a closer shave than I ever did with the Norelco. And after not shaving for the weekend the Braun cuts through the thicker hair with ease requiring less passes. The design of the Braun allows for easier more comfortable handling and better control. Although I never used the cleaning systems with the Norelco due to limited counter space I did wash it weekly. So I cannot talk to their cleaning system. I do use the cleaning system with the Braun on a weekly basis and it appears to do a good job! Knowing what I know now if I ever have to replace this razor I will do so with a new Braun!! I highly recommend this product!!

I've had several Braun shavers. The series 3 which I still have and use on occasions. The 7 series was the last shaver that worked well until it fell apart. The head cassette did not stay terribly sharp but thanks to Remington's "shaver saver" spray/lube, it lasted a while but the cleaner stand failed, requiring a replacement. To get to the point, the series 9 is very sharp and shaves close. Almost too close so you have to be careful not to press too hard. It is easy to clean. We really like the locking head that can be locked in any swivel position. Or leaving it unlocked works well too. There are no complaints so far. It is a bit expensive and we're not sure it's worth the high price tag. If you can get it for less, you will not regret it. There is a less expensive version available but that package omits the cleaner charge stand. t can possibly be added later as an option but the overall price tag may be higher. Good shaver? Yes, definitely. Is it worth the price? A hesitant yes.

I always wondered if an expensive razor would give a nicer shave than an inexpensive one. This razor gave me the answer. It is a REALLY nice razor and gave me the best shave I have ever had with an electric. Super close and super smooth. You can use it wet or dry. I started off dry as tradition dictates but switched to wet with shaving creme. The shave is so close and smooth. It's very substantial feeling and very sturdy. It came with a cleaning stand/charger. I ran out of cleaning fluid after a month but after smelling the fluid it's obvious it's just water and isopropyl alcohol so you can refill it yourself in a pinch. You can also get it clean by submersing the head in hot water in the sink while it's running then shaking the excess water out. Really good razor. Highly recommend to people with sensitive skin.

Very smooth in almost every regard. I have fairly thick facial hair and was impressed that shaves just like a commercial. I had a Series 7 for nearly 12 years and man what an upgrade! Doesn’t get too warm & cleans much easier. The only thing disappointing we the waste of an excuse for a trimmer on the back site.
