I like this shaver. I replaced a Braun Series 7 and for me, the Series 9 is a much better shaver. This unit provides a better more comfortable shave. It appears to handle multi-directional and longer hairs better than the Series 7. The body is longer and narrower and the overall shaver feels lighter and more comfortable to use. It is also noticeably quieter (good for shaving and trimming by the ears). They moved the trimmer to a better location as well (slide bar at back of shaver).
A couple of minor complaints. The shaver head lock slide bar doesn't work very well (I never use this feature). Also, the cleaning / charging base looks and feels cheap. The on/off button on top feels super cheap and I don't have confidence it will last. I keep my unit under my sink so I don't have to look at it.
It should be noted that replacement shaver heads are more expensive.
Overall, I would recommend this shaver. I gave this 5 stars based on the shaver itself.

Great shaver, I really like the flip out part, gets close but leaves a little stubble like I like. The foil part is great and almost as close as a razor without the irritation

By far, this razor is the best electric I have ever owned. I have owned and used several brand electric shavers over the years with no real satisfaction of a good shave. This shaver is a bit pricy but the shave is the best ever. Flex head, easy clean and although I don't used it with water, it can be used in the shower with shave cream. Has its own cleaning bath. Great unit and well worth the extra money.

Flawed locking mechanism on the Series 9
Posted .

After using the Braun Series 5 for many years I finally upgraded to the Series 9. Initially I liked the look and feel of the unit and it seemed quieter than the old one. The head is larger than the older Series 5, but after using it for a while I found that the larger head was more difficult to get into the contours and tight spots.
My biggest gripe about the Series 9 is the flawed locking mechanism. The Series 5 locking mechanism is rock solid, and keeps the head from moving at all when locked. My Series 9 still rotates with the slightest amount of force when it's supposed to be locked, and this gets very annoying when I'm trying to use the edge foils to shave close (the center cutters are only good for the long hairs).
I reported the flaw to Braun Service and they told me to send it in for repairs, which I did. When it came back almost 3 weeks later (slow service) the unit was in the same state as before, and possibly even weaker than before, and it smelled like it had been tested on a homeless person's beard. When I complained that the repairs were not successful, I got the following reply from Braun Service:
Hello,
The head on the series 9 does not lock 100% they will move if enough force is used, this is by design and is not a defect.
If it’s moving while shaving you are most likely using to much pressure, only a light touch is required to get a good shave.
Thank you,
Gary
Really Gary? Then why don't you say that in your advertising instead of using a PADLOCK icon to represent the lock feature. False advertising.
Needless to say I am very disappointed with the quality of the Series 9 shaver, now that I've been told by Braun that their flawed design is intentional, and I will not be able to lock the head for a close shave. Believe me, it takes very little pressure to get the head to move on my unit when it's supposed to be locked, and I cannot press hard enough to get a close shave without moving the head around. For now, I am using my old Series 5 instead of my brand new Series 9 shaver.
I may have to try to jam something between the head and the body of the shaver to try and lock it down so I can go back to using it again.

This shaver is a big improvement from my 20 year old braun shaver. Much quieter, more cutting heads, smooth operation. I especially enjoy the self cleaning feature of the base unit. Should really extend the life of the cutting heads. Been using it for about a month now and battery hasn’t really needed to be fully recharged yet, although it’s nice to have the recharging feature with the cleaning station. (I’ve only clean and recharge on the weekends)

Over the years I’ve owned several Braun shaver’s, as well as a Norelco or two. They usually last me several years, and are usually move on from them after I get dissatisfied with the quality of the shave. I recently purchased this item along with the self cleaning base, it is a significant improvement over my Braun 5000 series
And my Norelco. Close clean shave, good cleaning system, good battery life.

My Series 7 recently started falling apart after nine years. That's one testament of Braun shavers' quality, which I've been using since the late 1980s. It was difficult to jump to the Series 9 based on price and how great of an experience I had with the Series 7. Boy am I glad I made the leap, and Best Buy had a great sale on the Series 9 when I purchased it.
This Series 9 shaver is really quiet and I didn't realize how loud the the 7 series was until I started using this one. That goes for the base/cleaning unit too. After a brief initial start up, this one is absolutely whisper quiet. The Series 7 is a rattle trap.
I always appreciated how the Series 7 left my face feeling baby bottom smooth, but my skin felt fairly agitated in the process, and I always had to make multiple passes to get that affect. It usually hurt my skin to take a shower immediately after shaving.
The Series 9 is amazing. Less passes to achieve the perfect shave, zero skin agitation, no burning affect to my skin if I jump in the shower immediately after shaving, and it does a fantastic job on my neck. Far better than the Series 7, and overall the Series 7 was excellent.
The Series 9 is superb!

Great shaver, especially, if you shave every couple of days. Battery life is great can go a month without having to charge the battery. The best shaver I have ever purchase.

Overall, Braun has been one of the most reliable shavers for me. I prefer the triple-foil over the triple-head because it gives me a much closer shave. I prefer to have a shaver that I can use dry at any time for a quick shave. I know this one is on the high end, but it feels like a good investment, because the cheap ones never work good enough. I also love having a self-cleaning charger.

I love this razor! I've been using a 3 head rotary head for years. I got tired of the head falling off when shaving under my jaw to my neck. I switched to this Braun and haven't been disappointed. It shaves CLOSER than my old electric razors, as close as a razor blade but without the nicks and cuts. Even when I haven't shaved for several days and whiskers are 1/8" - 1/4" long, it takes less minutes to get a close shave than my other electric razors with day old whiskers, and I haven't read Braun's emailed article [yet] on how to get a close, smooth shave. I like the integrated trimmer on the back of the handle. My last razors had a pop-on trimmer attachment after removing the head, and the latest one didn't have space for it in the traveling case! The chrome with a few black highlights looks sharp and classy. The charging & cleaning stand works well, though noisy during the cleaning cycle which might keep some awake or annoy if in the same room. It came with a nice, hard case. I have used this razor since the end of November '21.

This is a very nice razor and cuts very close, even on the neck. The trimmer that slides out on the back of the unit is very sturdy and a much better system than on the Series 7. The head is a little big, so getting right up to the edge of facial hair can be a bit of a challenge, but it works in the end. Keeps itself clean in its base.

I've owned 3 different Braun shavers over the years, as well as some from Panasonic and Norelco. The Brauns have always performed better, and lasted longer than the others that I have tried.
I've owned 500 and 700 series and they have been great. Decided to try the 9 series, as I wanted to see if it would shave more closely on my neck, and jawline. I was not disappointed. Closest shave I've ever had with an electric. No irritation, and I can shave much more quickly than with the 5 series that it replaced. Love that!
If you have not tried the cleaning system, you are really missing out. Keeps it feeling new for years! Plus, it just looks really nice to have a storage solution that sits on the counter and keeps it charged.
Only difference in the one pictured, and the one I received is the digital readout that shows the charge level. Picture shows a number, but mine has bars that show the level, instead of the number. No big deal to me.
Great razor, and I highly recommend it! Worth the money!

This is my 3rd Braun shaver. Previously the 3, 7, and now 9. Its definitely the most powerful and well. I was slightly disappointed with the design. It feels cheap and is quite bulky. The size blocks my view at certain angles. Comparing with my 7 series the 9 cuts better and the battery lasts longer, but I prefer the size and grip of the 7.

This is my second Braun Series 9 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver. My first one is about 2 1/2 years old now and I was getting nervous that at some point it might quit working. So I bought this second one as a spare because I didn't want to be caught without having Braun Series 9 for a week or so whenever my first one goes out.
Don't get me wrong, my first one is still working fine. Maybe I'm just being overly cautious because the Braun Series 9 is simply the best electric shaver I've ever used in my life.
I use it daily in the shower with shaving cream and it gives me the best shaves I've ever had in my life!

I have bought purchased many electric shavers of the years and they were all not what I was expecting for a close shave. Well, I have finally found the shaver of all shavers. This Braun Series 9 is by far the best on the market. Give a very close shave, easy to clean and the design is top notch. This shaver feels great in the hand and even better on my face.

This is the second Braun cordless electric shaver I have bought, the first was 30 years ago but had the thinner more flimsy foil heads. This shaver is a bit more costly than the models a few decades ago, but worth it. The 9 series shaver is about like the top BMW/Rolls for what I have been experienced with. The shave is close, though like with a lot of electric shavers you can't shave in 30 seconds and get great results. On average I am done with my shave in about 5-6 minutes and is a close shave. I have sensitive skin but this shaver keeps me safe and does not irritate. I like the fact this unit is water proof and can b e used in the shower with shave gel. It also has a pretty good auto cleaning/charging system, or can use direct power plug for charging.
I have had my 9 series for a little over 2 months and shave 5-6 days per week. So far it is keeping up to the hype. Remember maintenance and proper operation is always the key. The instruction manual may be a little vague, but with online resources you can figure it out easily.

Compared to other electric shavers this is hands down the best I have ever used. I love the charging/cleaning station too as it makes it very easy to care for and be at the ready. No complaints about its performance either as it shaves very close. While it can be and I have used it wet in the shower, it works just as well and without abusing my skin when dry shaving.
