Bravely Second: A Great Sequel to Bravely Default

Before my review, I have to say that I'm biased because I love this franchise. If you liked Bravely Default, then the sequel is a must grab. It has returning characters and a whole new story to get lost in. The game has new features that allow you to just casually play and take a break from the main campaign. You will have to grind for levels, but that is expected from a JRPG.

The graphics are pretty good and the story is good as well. This game can be pretty addicting at times, although one may feel like they're grinding out levels at some point throughout the story. I still enjoyed this game and I regret not picking up Bravely Default.

Bravely Second continues with the story of Bravely Default, which breaks from the general pattern defined by its spiritual parent, Final Fantasy, where the worlds change completely between entries (well, entries that don't begin with the same Roman numeral, anyway). I'm still early in my playthrough, but so far, it's up to par with BD. The music isn't quite as good, in my opinion, and they do reuse a lot of maps, but the game remains fun with enough changes to make it feel like a different experience. This is absolutely worth picking up if you liked the first one.

for those who were fans of the first installment of the game, this sequel should satisfy your need to fill in the whole that was created after you completed the previous game. great story, similar controls and gameplay you are used to. for those who are just getting into the series it is highly recommended (but not required) to play the first game since even as soon as the introduction there are references to the last game. great RPG style game if you like the genre.

Do yourself a favor and play the first one before jumping into this; Bravely Default was fantastic, an homage and improvement on classic JRPGs like Final Fantasy. Bravely Second builds on the first both in mechanics and story. A great game on its own, this is a rare worthy sequel in a fantastic new JRPG IP.

Ok, so I absolutely loved Bravely Default, to the point where I essentially made sure I 100% completed it (maxing out all job tiers, finding all secrets, etc.). I put a solid 80-110 hrs of gameplay into it, and it is one that I may very well run through again in the future. As soon as Bravely Second got announced, I was hyped up for it! The battle system in this game series is unique enough to not feel stale, while still remaining loyal to many of the TRPGs (Tactical battle/Turn-based Role Playing Games) most fundamental and enjoyable mechanics. I've already put many hours into Bravely Second, and I feel like there's still a lot of gameplay left, which is great. If you like to play the generic Action/FPS type games with a campaign mode that maybe will last you 10 hours tops to complete, then this game is not for you. If solid gameplay, character progression, and a storyline that will pull you in and give you many many more hours of enjoyment is what you're after...then Bravely Second: End Layer will surely deliver for you!

Solid RPG. Interesting new jobs. Some good QOL changes and improvements as well as a better pace compared to BD. Although, the music and story are a step down from BD.

Bravely Second is the sequel to Bravely Default. The story for both games is well told and has some breathtaking moments. The Brave/Default combat system is quite unique and well-balanced. The enhancements in this game make the battles much more fun.

This game reminds me of what got me into RPG's in the first place. It's not going to wow you on graphics, but the story has been fun and cheesy. It has an old school battle system with a couple twists. It's just fun. Even the little side games are interesting enough. Now, I didn't play the original game and probably won't at the price but this is a fun one.

Bravely Second is a solid sequel to the much-beloved Bravely Default. Warning for the uninitiated--these games take a lot of work and time to complete (and probably a few tips from online sites). The mechanics and gameplay are very similar, though there are some new job classes to enjoy. Folks, this is the closest you'll get to the great Final Fantasy games on 3DS.

If you enjoyed the job duties in FF Tactics, FFIII, played 4 Heros of Light, or the first Bravely Default, you'll enjoy this second entry. You don't really need to have played the first to get into the second though. I'm hoping Square gets serious on these and gives us a NX entry that uses this art style and combat. Turn based is so timeless.

Let's get some quick questions out of the way first: No you don't HAVE to have played the first game in the series, but it helps a lot with the story. No there is no end-game-repeating like their was in the first game. Thank goodness. Yes it is a highly polished, lovely little JRPG from Square-Enix, the masters of the genre. And finally, YES, you will sadly have to grind enemies by the THOUSANDS if you want to make your party strong enough for the battles at hand. It's the same job system as the previous game, and previous Square games for ages. In fact, most of the jobs in the job system are the SAME ONES from Bravely Default!! Not something I can recommend as "fun", but it's well made and slick nonetheless. Overall, this is a pretty okay title if you don't mind boatloads of grinding, very little in the way of story or sidequests, and a very old-school (in a good and bad way) vibe.

I loved the first part and this was a great continuation. I liked the fact that the characters had new jobs and that there were consecutive battles rather than regular battles. I dreaded waiting for an encounter. This is much better. More action! I also liked the back story on Yew's life.

Like other reviewers said, it's like final fantasy. Story and game play are both good. Play the first game before this one, since it's a sequel to the first game.

For the most part, if you enjoyed the first Bravely Default, then you will enjoy this one. It does fix a few problems with the first game, particularly the egregious recycling of content. If you haven't played that game, this is very much Final Fantasy V-style gaming, with a few quirks in the battle system that allow you to store turns to use all at once with the "Brave" command. It makes for some interesting strategy. You can also, through class skills, break the game wide open with some ridiculously overpowered combinations. That's part of the fun, though. Much like the first game, you can also speed battles up considerably. Combined with macros, you can very quickly level grind, significantly expanding your combat options while allaying some of the tedium the genre is often known for. Anyway, a worthwhile purchase.

The story is a little more of the same but the characters make up for it. The battle system has a lot of improvements as well. Really enjoying it so far.
