Sturdy and functional pop up toaster. I also like the wide slot for thicker bread.

Toast only Browns on one side. Manufacturer said it is made that way. I returned toaster.

Loved the design of this toaster, and when it worked it was terrific. But as another reviewer noted, I toasted maybe 20 slices of bread and bagels before the heating unit blew. Now it warms the bread but it doesn't brown. I tried to get help from Breville and they said it was out of warranty. I asked what they suggest I do to get it fixed and they recommended I buy a new toaster. I certainly will--from another manufacturer. Like others, I'm surprised that such an expensive toaster broke so fast. If you choose to purchase, definitely buy the extended warranty.

maybe I was unlucky but one compartment would not heat up sufficiently to toast compared to the other side. if I upped the time to compensate, I burnt one slice. of course, with $100+ on the line, not interested in doing the slice shuffle. tried to get support from breville, I would have a better chance of holding back Niagara falls with teacup. back it goes and cannot recommend this toaster. overpriced and the quality control clearly off. NOTE: this issue has NOTHING to do with busy circuit. It had a circuit all to itself. this is about incompetence at breville and the audacity to price this thing more than $40.

This review is for last years model. I hope this model has improved reliability. The issue we had was that without warning all the lights around the pushbuttons just flash. Unplugged the unit, let it sit and when repowered, the light around the start button flashes and you can hear a ticking sound. As a side note, the lettering delineating the buttons wear off over time. For this price, I don't consider this to be a good value.

We had this Breville product for a little over one year. This toaster broke beyond repair with only very moderate use. I could have bought 3 toasters for the price of this one --- very disappointing. I really liked the toaster but will never spend a lot of money on a toaster again.
