Never Descale and purchase Best Buy Total Tech. / insurance. There is much to love…. But our issues began when doing a descale cycle, then machine would not heat past 150 degs. So not able to use machine. Replaced with 2nd Breville, and 8 -months in ran the descale cycle…. Same problem. Thank God for Best Buy service. Made life / return easy. When you drop $2700 in this machine and can’t even descale it. All you have to do is google this issue and it’s all over the web, but Breville refuses to address this issue.

Posted .Descaling is actually the number on bit of maintenance for the espresso machines. You cannot descale too much. You can certainly descale too infrequently. If there is too much scale/mineral built up to flush properly, it's then that the person runs into issues with the machine resulting from a descale cycle.

Great...while it worked.

Worked great for the first the first 2 years of ownership, using multiple times per day. Regular maintenance and upkeep were performed based on manufacturers guidelines. Unfortunately, the machines boilers seemed to spring a leak sending steam into the unit and damaging the electronics (causing power shorts). Sent to Breville for repair and they claimed the machine was unrepairable and out of warranty. They did offer to recycle my $2500 espresso machine for me, so there's that.

Great machine, but expensive

She is still learning how to fine-tune it but is able to make espresso drinks that she likes. Saves her settings on the drink menu as she makes adjustments. So far really enjoying it!

I just wish it was a little easier to switch the beans out to decaf for the evenings. I’d drink way more coffee. Other then that I love it!
