However, it was shipped severely dented on one corner. The packaging around the toaster was in perfect shape. I have to wonder if the toaster wasn't shipped with the dent apparent.

It's still under the 1 year warranty, so hopefully it's replaced, and the replacement is more reliable.

However, the slider is a fairly flimsy piece of plastic that has, after 3 months and pretty limited usage, broken off.
