This machine is worth it. Present for my niece and she is so happy. It's great for caffeine in the morning and espresso martini's at night.

After 18 months ours leaks water somewhere between the machine and water tray when it releases water after a shot. Very disappointing, not sure if it can be fixed or entirely replaced. Nothing seems to be made to last anymore so I’m particularly disappointed that our Breville didn’t. We each made coffee so probably 3-4 cycles a day (1600-2100 uses in 18 mos). For $500 we got our use out of it but it still seems like a waste to toss the whole thing.
The only thing that is very poor are the cleaning cycle indicators and controls. I have to look up on YouTube every time to remember how to clean it or what the machine is telling me.

My coffee grinding skills are horrible. My frothing skills are slightly better. I would love to improve and be more accurate but I just don't have the time. This espresso machine sounded great for me. We previously had a Hamilton Beach machine that obviously wasn't any good... but it made espresso so it served its purpose until it recently died.
First, the auto-frothing is AMAZING to me. My wife likes her milk lava-hot but I prefer not to burn my tongue off. The settings on the frother are super easy to acheive either result. Same for the froth amount. One problem here is that sometimes I want to use a milk subsititute and it throws off the calculation for temperature and time. It still works, you just need to experiment for the milk.
The auto cleaning feature is also awesome. Part of why my old machine broke is because I was lazy and would clean it (I've changed my ways I promise!). The auto purging feature after steaming milk is awesome buuuuuttt... a little messy too. It the waste tray isn't seated right, you'll get milky water everywhere.
Speaking of the tray, it fills pretty quick. But there's a little red floater that tells you when its full - that's also really nice.
As for espresso itself, the portafilter comes with pressurized baskets which I am a huge fan of because, as I said, I can't get consistently ground coffee. The unit heats up FAST. Like CRAZY fast. Espresso comes out pretty tasty with good crema. The one thing here, and I'll echo others, is that getting the filter on is pretty tough on the first brew. Wetting the filter a bit or running an empty shot usually helps. It's not a *huge* deal, personally.
I really love my machine. It is easy and fast to make espresso drinks. I don't have to be highly skilled but I think it also allows people to experiment and learn. So, great for beginners who like good espresso, in my opinion.

This machine worked great…when it worked. 5 weeks after buying the machine it completely stopped functioning. Lights didn’t turn on, no resetting helped, just totally broken. Now 2 weeks after sending it to Breville for warranty repair I STILL don’t have a machine. So not only did it almost immediately break, there is no manufacturer support and after hours on the phone my 500 dollar machine is still missing from my counter.
We're sorry to hear of your experience. Thank you for your review and your feedback. We do value customers' input. We'll definitely pass along your feedback to the appropriate people, as we are continuously trying to improve our customer's experience.

It's a great machine. Very convenient as a first good espresso machine. Is very easy to us, compact, and yields delicious espresso. And it is really ready to use within seconds of turning it on. The automation features are very convenient for quick drinks in the morning. However, there but there are some minor things to be aware of:
If you are intending to use pre-ground coffee, be aware that depending on the grind size and type, you may not be able to get more than 16grams in the basket. With more than that is very difficult to get the portafilter into the machine. Typical espresso shots are between 17 and 19 grams. If you have a good espresso grinder, this should not be an issue.
The auto-frothing option is awesome and convenient, but can be a little inconsistent. I always chose the mid option for amount of foam and sometimes get a nice, silky microfoam, while others it feels more like capuccino foam. You can always manually froth the milk if you prefer more control.
The heating "rack" or "plate" on top of the machine is essentially useless. It only heats up when the machine is pulling a shot or frothing.
Overall is a great machine, but in my opinion, is a bit overpriced. If you are willing to give up the auto-frothing, the regular Bambino might be a better value.

Wonderful Espresso machine. The milk froth/heater is fantastic. Wonderful instructions and just enough flexibility to truly customize your coffee. We love it.
Poor Starbucks, they will definitely see a dip in sales now.

Easy to use, great product. I'm a beginner and found this very beginner friendly and quality. My only gripe is sometimes the grounds get stuck on the top where the water comes out where the grounds meet the machine. Easy fix with a puck though.
