quite a challenge for beginners

it took quite a few tries for a beginner like me trying to make my own expresso. The 1 and 2 settings both have to set separately instead of just pressing a button to set or to switch from one after the other.

After researching intro-level home espresso machines, I elected to buy the Breville Bambino Plus for its small footprint, feature set and generally positive reviews on a number of sites.
I have used the machine quite a few times now to make both espresso and lattes and am happy with its performance. The espresso produced by the machine out of the box, using the included pressurized filter basket, is reasonably good. The automated milk heater/frother works well, although I will experiment with manual use to see if I can customize to my preference. I plan to get an unpressurized filter basket and see how that will work with the Bambino Plus.
A number of reviews have mentioned difficulty engaging the portafilter into the group head, and the key to avoiding this problem seems to be preheating the group head by running a shot through it as suggested in the manual, after which the engagement is reasonably easy.

Tired of spending money at those coffee shops?? I was! Working from home with this made life easier. I have all the ingredients to vary with taste. This machine will make you feel like a “seasoned barista” in no time! Very easy to use right down to the maintenance of cleaning and descaling your machine.

This is by far the most expensive espresso I've purchased.
At the same time it very cool in the following,
I will keep track of the shots and tell you when to clean it
When it detects is not pulling the shot correctly due to calcification, it will also let you know.
I mean no big deal, but I've never seen that before.
It heats up in a second or two
Great tasting and consistent shots
You don't have to wait between shots, or between frother and shots, so if you are making coffee for the wife, it won't be cold by the time you finished both
The appliance itself is the highest quality I've ever had.
It put other brands to shame

My wife was going through withdrawal from not being able to get her daily latte and this little machine came to her rescue. I am a fan of espresso. This is my first espresso machine and could not be happier. It is small and takes up limited counter space. It is very easy to use and took only a few days to be able to consistently make a great latte or espresso. I had been using a burr grinder for my regular coffee and believe the key is to get the grind setting right. You need it to be fine but not too fine. It took a little trial and error. It has not been hard to maintain. The drip tray needs to be emptied and rinsed and make sure you wipe the milk wand with a damp rag each time. The only issue with the machine is my wife loves it so much I have become her personal barista. I have literally been making espresso and latte every morning (and some afternoons) since we got the machine (about one month) and have never had an issue. FYI - I gave it an excellent for ease of use but keep in mind it is not a push button automatic machine. Price is reasonable relative to most quality espresso machine's out there.

The Breville Bambino Plus provides all of Breville's high-quality espresso technology, including 15 bars of pressure, into a compact and incredibly convenient package. My absolute favorite features are the three-second heat up time (really!), the automatic milk frother, and the feature whereby the steam wand automatically purges itself after frothing. The ability to select your preferred temperature and degree of milk texture are a great touch as well. Altogether, these features save me an incredible amount of time relative to the less expensive espresso machine I previously had. It now takes less significantly time to make a full latte than it does to boil water for tea! And I can get the rest of my breakfast, etc. together while the machine froths the milk for the latte automatically, helping me get out the door that much more quickly. This healthcare worker can't thank Breville enough for helping me fit a fresh, homemade latte into my busy mornings.
We're sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for your review and your feedback. We'll definitely pass this on to the appropriate people, as we are continuously trying to improve our customer's experience.

Small and compact espresso machine that does not eat up too much countertop space. Espresso drips fine, the milk steamer has an auto-stop feature that detects the temperature of the milk once it has completely foamed up. The water tank is large enough to house multiple espresso shots. The only issue was the espresso portafilter was initially incredibly tight to screw on / remove at first , but was able to get it to work after a few tries. A worthy investment if you like home brewed espressos / cappucinos.

Compact footprint. Check. Short enough to fit under 15” cabinet clearance. Check. Huge water tank despite its diminutive size. Check. Beautiful to look at. Check. Ease of use. Check. Quick and easy frother. Check. Easy to clean. Check (the milk frother even cleans itself… mostly).
All well and good except for one thing. No matter what I did to trouble shoot, it never achieved an espresso temp higher than 150 degreesF. That’s straight out of the group head always preheated directly onto a thermometer or into a cup with thermomter already in place. By they time you drink it, hot tap water is lava hot by comparison. FAIL.
That aside, if you’re keto there is simply no way to get a decent frothed milk alternative including the “barista” formulated milk alternatives with this thing. So far the only way I’ve found to achieve that is to put any milk alternative in the microwave for about 45 seconds then hit it with my 19 dollar, single battery powered flimsy little hand held whisk. Not as good as steam frothed whole milk to be sure, but about as close as you can expect for milk alternative… far superior to what you get with this built in frother, although it does a great job with whole milk… still useless when paired with cold coffee. It’s a shame. I really wanted to like this thing, but it does everything well except the main thing it exists to do.

Great little machine, and I do mean little. It is narrow and takes up minimal space on the counter, It is fast and pretty automatic, so it's not a lot of fuss in the morning. The milk steaming is first rate. It is lightweight, so it's necessary to steady it while twisting in the portafilter, which is a bit tight. A tiny amount of vegetable oil on your finger helps this until it is broken in. I extended the timing a bit in manual mode to make a better shot. Cleanup mostly involves rinsing off the catch tray and portafilter. Love it.

We lost our D'Longhi Espresso Maker right before Christmas and getting a Breville was part of the game plan. The challenge was deciding between the Bambino Plus or the Breville Express with the grinder. We got the Bambino Plus and we are pretty happy with it.
Giving the Breville Bambino Plus a 5-star because it was such an upgrade from our last machine (quality, sound, looks, and worth every penny.
Here are some items to think about:
Pros:
* Heats water fast and dispenses quickly
* Auto-frother is fantastic and is perfect every time
* Self-clean on the frother is awesome
* Easy to use
* Coffee comes out very hot
Cons:
* Pricey
* The two-button shutoff timing needs improvement
* Have to spend the extra money on a good coffee grinder
* Stainless steel smudges easily

I love how the frothing is automated so I can't mess it up. You do really have to practice with your grind and getting it the exact amount of fullness in order to get the brew right. Once you do, it's quick and delicious. One thing I wish they did better is the auto-clean of the frothing wand. (first of all, this feature is the best part of the machine!) But, when it cleans, it sprays so I have to clean that up. I started putting a cloth around it to avoid the spray. I really do enjoy this machine.

I needed a true espresso machine and this fits the bill. It has a very large reservoir and needs it. It takes a lot of water to make a relatively small amount of coffee. Comes with all the accouterments one needs to make cafe style espresso, razor for shaving down the grounds, damper for compacting the grounds before brewing. The steamer wand is also easy to use and steam pitcher is provided. The stainless steel structure is beautiful and easy to clean. The plug is also well-designed for easy removal. I have been very happy with this product and have no caveat in recommending it.

Pros:
-Easy to operate
-Small footprint
-Priced right
-Large water tank
Cons:
-54mm portafilter is smaller than industry standard. Harder to find replacement parts if you want to customize your process. (only comes with pressurized baskets).
-Auto milk frothing is OK for cappuccino and lattes but not great for latte art. You can froth manually though.
Overall it's great for the average starbucks person who likes milk based beverages. Great starter machine that you can grow with.
