The Breville Barista Express is a manual espresso machine that provides a good shot if you spend the time to dial in the grind and the tamp. The grinder is adjustable and easy to initially calibrate by moving the top burr inside. It comes with 2 sets of baskets, single and double shot both pressurized and non-pressurized. The non-pressurized baskets will render a much better shot, but they require more trial and error to get the grind right. The steam wand is a thermo-block and as such will take a few seconds to warm up before generating steam. The frothing wand is standard and if anything a tad slower than some that I have used which is good if you are just starting out and not quite comfortable getting good foam quickly. For the price this is one of the best units available and the grinder is an added bonus. Not only does this machine look nice, but it is also very nice! I was sceptical with it being so expensive and after reading reviews on other espresso machines breaking down after a few months or people being disappointed with them not making REAL espresso. I decided to go with this machine and have NO regrets whatsoever! I have been able to make mocha and vanilla frappucino's just like you'd get at Starbucks - and it's a LOT easier than I thought with minimal cleanup. All you need is this machine, good medium roast coffee beans, chocolate or vanilla syrup, milk/sweet cream, ice, and a Ninja Bullet or other blender that can FINELY blend ice. Once you load the beans into the hopper, the machine does the rest. You can configure how much it grinds and from there it's a simple tap and it grinds just the right amount to brew. Initially, you might have to tweak this as you go to get it just the way you want it but in a week or two of using it you'll know right where the settings should be for single or double wall filters and single or double shots. The documentation that's included makes this easy to undertand and learn. From there you compress the grinds with the tamper tool and then brew. The pressure gauge helps show you the pressure that is applied to the brew so you can gauge what your espresso will come out like. Again, documentation covers this and there are many Youtube videos out there that'll help you learn. The frother works perfectly and far better than any I've used on cheaper machines. Being that it's stainless steel, it's also easy to clean and keep looking new. Overall, I'd highly recommend this machine to anyone who might be looking at other machines to make good espresso. Once you get it out and use it the first time you'll see why it costs what it does as it's truly built to last and is a high quality machine.

We decided to purchase this Espresso Maker in December 2017 as a Christmas present for my husband and me. I waited to leave a review since I wanted to get to know the machine, experience various types of coffee beans and various beverages, like lattes, cappuccinos, double espresso, plain coffee, etc. We are now starting September and I feel pretty comfortable to leave an excellent review since this machine has absolutely changed our mornings. It's very easy to use, simple commands, and we always get PERFECT cappuccinos and espressos every time. Make sure to keep the little "quick start and troubleshooting" paper handy in the kitchen since sometimes (depending on the coffee beans) you'll have to make two little adjustments: The grind amount and the grind size. Which is done by simply turning the little wheel right or left (super easy). One thing I had to figure out by myself and it took me about a month (since I didn't know) was how to deal with the noisy frother... which can get very loud but I realized that by simply lifting the wand a bit out of the milk at the beginning of the process (just a tiny bit, until it makes a bubble on the top), that quiets the sounds instantly. I have no complaints about it at all, we love it, our friends love it and I know is expensive but it pays for itself if you stop buying these beverages outside. For cleaning, when the light reminds me, I use aftermarket tablets, which I bought on Amazon for much much less than the original Breville and they work just fine ( I called Breville and they told me that the aftermarket tablets are ok and they won't harm the machine). I've only had to do it twice in 9 months. Overall, EXCELLENT!

Quite impressive. Effective, straight-forward, and produces espresso of high quality consistently. I am not advanced with the machine, but it sure makes me feel like it...

Ok, I have to say I was anxious when I saw all the features it had. But in a very short time, I have learned to make one out of this world espresso and latte macchiato. Its features include a coffee grinder that ranges from 1 (extra fine) -10 (course). It has a water filtration system that keeps water deposits from damaging your machine. The machine has a cleaning system. It comes with a built-in wand for frothing. And yum. Who doesn't love the froth? It has a pressure gauge that allows you to read and then make adjustments to achieve the right pressure to create the perfect shot. It is extremely well-designed and solid. Breville thinks of and includes everything you need like a tamper, single and double wall filters, a blade for assuring the exact amount of grounds in the basket, a milk pitcher, cleaning tablets, and a water filter. I really recommend watching the YouTube video Breville created about this machine. I know it's a little pricey but it is totally worth it. I figure it will pay for itself in less than 5 months since I no longer go to the local espresso joint for my daily cup of joe.

Love it!! My partner & I were spending so much money buying coffee from the store or at local shops so I decided to buy this as I had heard it was great quality for the price. I purchased it because it was on sale for $550 and after watching a few videos to get it right, we are loving it! The espresso is great and my coffee is cleaner and tastier. Definitely recommend- but make sure to test out different settings and ground beans fresh.

It’s a beautiful little piece of machinery. Being an espresso making novice, I almost let myself get overwhelmed and give up in the first couple of hours, but patience paid off (as did quite a few YouTube videos) and I was pulling delicious shots in no time. I almost went the super automatic route but I have to say it has been very satisfying to learn the process and develop the ritual of doing this myself…and breville gives you everything you need to do just that—I did invest in a few minor accessories after the fact but everything you need is in the box. Highly rrecommended!

I recently had the pleasure of trying out a coffee machine that was without a doubt, the most awesome coffee machine I have ever used. The machine had a range of features that I had never seen before, including a milk frother that produced perfectly frothed milk for my cappuccinos and lattes, and a built-in grinder that ground my coffee beans to just the right consistency. The machine was incredibly easy to use, with a simple touch screen that allowed me to select my desired coffee strength and size at the touch of a button. The final product was a perfectly brewed, rich and flavourful coffee that tasted as if it had been made by a barista in a high-end coffee shop. The coffee machine was also incredibly easy to clean, with removable parts that could be washed in the dishwasher. Overall, this coffee machine is an absolute game-changer and a must-have for anyone who wants to enjoy high-quality coffee at home.

Oh yes indeed! I gawked at the price at first when my husband brough this magical machine home, however, we were spending $15 a day at local coffee shops! I am SO glad he got this. MAN it makes some good espresso! We like different roast of beans, and its not that hard to swap it out! I highly recommend this. I actually just made a Peppermint latte and thought..WOW I need to tell others about this. So here I am- telling you to add to cart!

This is an incredible product because it's easy to use and conveniently sized. Its attractive design adds a touch of elegance to my kitchen. The quick heat-up time is impressive and the espresso flavor it delivers is simply superb. One of the best features is the milk frother - it works like a charm.

We have had this coffee machine for three years now, and it still proves to be the best cup of coffee in the morning. With all of your settings options, and the ability to grind your own beans, it makes for a wonderful at home coffee experience.

Overall, the Breville Express is a fantastic espresso machine. It pulls accurate shots almost every time, and looks great in the kitchen. The only downside is that the steam wand doesn’t work well. It takes forever for it to steam, and half the time doesn’t really work the way you’d want it to. Luckily, we mainly drink iced.

The pick up process was so easy. I now use the machine every single day without any issues. I've convinced 3 of my friends to buy. It is an amazing product, a great product for people who are beginner in making espresso!

Love love love this machine! I can make my drinks exactly like Dutch Bros. The expression is perfect! This machine is actually very easy to use with so many amazing features! I can't believe I've gone so long without this!

Bought my wife this machine for her birthday because it was her number one wishlist item. She loves it and now makes us a professional cup of coffee every morning. The milk frother is loud though and can be a bit annoying plus there is maintenance, but overall it's worth the time and effort. Investing in a separate handheld milk frother can speed things up.
