This machine is perfect for beginning baristas. It does take a bit to get used to, but once you dial it in, it really is great. The frother attachment works beautifully once you get the hang of it. I highly suggest you read the manual first. They have included some really useful tips and tricks in there to help get you started. The most difficult part for me was getting the tamp just right. Once you've mastered that it's really fast and easy to pull perfect shots every time. I really love that everything you need to get started is right in the box. Of course you can always upgrade down the road. Which is what I plan to do. All in all it really is a great espresso machine.

Extraordinary in every way. I've had my eye on this coffee maker for close to a decade, but never felt comfortable pulling the trigger on a $600 machine. Fortunately, my father-in-law already had one of these available for me to try when we stayed with them over the holidays. One of the best cups of coffee I've had coming out of a someone's home. I immediately started justifying logical reasons for me to own one of these. I purchased one as a gift to myself after hitting my bonus at work earlier this year. I went to Starbucks for the first time in weeks the other day and noticed in my app that I had only visited a Starbucks three times since I purchased this machine several months prior. At $3-$5 a cup (while on the road traveling for work), I see that I've already saved $200-$300 making a large roadie before I leave for work each day. If you can spring it, this machine is AMAZING! Easy to use, easy to clean, very efficient with the built-in grinder (adjustable) and water tank.

As a coffee lover, I was on the hunt for a great coffee machine. Bought this Breville coffee maker as an early Christmas gift, and I can say it went beyond my expectations. Great, smooth coffee, just like I would get from Starbucks or any other fancy coffee shop.

I finally bought this for myself and it is the best investment! I have saved so much money with this breville. Difficult to dial in at first, but once you learn how the different grinders work it makes good espresso. You will need to buy an espresso scale to use this

For the price, this is reasonable if you know about espresso machines. I’ll say this, anyone can use this machine but if you’ve worked in specialty coffee and want an affordable machine that will give you that good stuff like at work on a commercial machine, you can make this work with a good scale, know-how (dialing in, how to properly steam milk, tamping properly, etc.). This is a decent at home espresso machine! (As long as you know how, you can make this machine do great work!) Tip: I take out the beans after each use because of how hot the machine can get. Don’t wanna ruin good fresh beans!

Best prosumer espresso machine. I am brand new to this so it is a wonderful starting point for me. Definitely recommend research YouTube and Google for learning how to use it. Once you dial in on the right dose, you’ve got this and enjoy the best coffee you’ve ever had right at home. I love making my coffee it’s an art now. I’m still learning the process of the frother, only down fall is that it is a little slow to start but not really bad in my opinion. Overall, I’ve been so happy with my machine after using it at least twice a day for the last month. It took me about a week to get the hang of it, and lots of research to dial in the right dose and ratio. Now I have the smoothest and most exquisite coffee. Better than going to any franchise in my humble opinion.

Awesome machine right out of the box. The grinder is very high quality and is easy to adjust to get the perfect shot. Takes a couple tries to get the grind just right but is very simple. The machine is very straight forward and user friendly and looks amazing sitting on the counter top. Been a huge espresso drinker for years and this is the best machine I’ve used.

I bought this one because it had high review rates. The machine is well built. The quality of the espresso it produces is good. The price is fair. However, I found difficult to consistently achieve the good results. I am sure with time and practice I could end up mastering the setup. But at this point I am looking for simplicity. I returned it and picked up the automated more expensive model which was on sale and greatly discounted. I am very satisfied with the exchange. If one enjoys preparing custom recipes, this machine May be a great option. Not for me, though.

Well, I have not written a review in a long time but I wanted to take the opportunity to write it this time because I am loving the Breville Barista Express: - Yes, it was a learning curve to understand the different variables to get an excellent Espresso, but once you learn how to do it, every cup of coffee is perfect! - This Machine is NOT for Coffee consumers that do not appreciate a good cup of coffee or if you are not willing to put the time on it. Meaning that it really is an art. - It took me around 2 weeks to get it right and understand the “Pressure”, “Tapping”, Coffee Grinding, etc… But today I love the process. I highly recommend this Espresso Machine, coffee is delicicious and the process, once you get it down, is simple. Hope this helps at least one person. = )

Amazing product. I use it every day and have not had any issues with it breaking. Takes a bit of fidgeting at first to get it to work the way you want it to but that’s part of espresso making.

It makes a good shot of espresso! I've had many of these, what I call "fancy coffee" machines. I paid more for some, less for others. I used to move often and it seemed every move, my fancy coffee machine would break and start leaking inside (probably due to freezing). Well, now I'm settled permanently (I hope), so here I go again. This machine is still pretty new to me, and although I like the quick convenience of a "pod" type coffee maker, when I can devote a few minutes to crafting a really premium coffee beverage, this machine delivers. The pros: looks nice, fairly sturdy build quality with lots of metal, heats up pretty quickly, recovers quickly between shots, really nice heavy high quality porta-filter, contains a VERY, VERY nice grinder that is precise and consistent as well as compatible with bean hoppers from Breville's stand alone top-of-the-line grinders, handy inside filter storage and magnetic tamper storage, single and double wall filters supplied, nice ball-jointed frothing wand, but best of all this machine is VERY customizable. Single and double-shot volume is adjustable, grind size and volume have lots of adjustment range (also manual volume control by holding the porta-filter in), brew temperature can be customized over a range of several degrees, and bean hoppers can be unlocked and removed (swapped) with beans still inside. The frother works fine but I usually use a separate induction type frother. The cons (all very minor): It's a little messy. It spits a little when brewing. To dispense a full dose into the porta-filter at my preferred grind setting (3), there's some spill-over, even if I shake the handle a bit during the grind. I don't think this can be avoided in anything other than a super-automatic machine and I hate cleaning those things. I deal with this by reducing the grind volume by half, tamping it down, then grinding in the other half. The porta-filter comes with a dual-outlet nozzle, but I never brew into two cups. Sometimes I want to brew into a very small cup, but the dual nozzles won't both hit it. If you unscrew and remove the dual nozzle, the porta-filter won't sit flat and level on its own while tamping. This is a minor annoyance. It doesn't have provision for a direct plumbed water supply (I know that's a big ask, but it's what I want). Overall: I love this machine. When I'm not using it, it sits there looking nice. When I use it, I realize how good coffee can be. I hope it long outlasts its warranty.

As an avid Starbucks junkie, I was looking for a way to avoid driving to get a good latte or mocha. After reading a ton of reviews of different espresso machines, I chose this one. Paid around $550 for it. The machine is easy to use. Definitely read the instructions first, but it makes an amazing espresso! Comes with grinder, can make one or two shots at once, built in frother that’s easy to use, and only takes a few minutes to make a great drink.
