Really Nice Espresso, Minor Inconvenience

So stepping up to a machine as highly rated as the Breville Barista Express Impress was a pretty big step. Sadly, it has not been all good. Our first machine would not automatically dose the coffee. Breville Customer Service worked with us on a video call and after going through a long process trying to get the dosing working correctly, finally decided we had a defective device. They arranged a replacement to be sent and we packed-up the old one to send back. Prepaid shipping to Breville, so that was nice. The replacement unit has exactly the same issue... So we went back through the troubleshooting without help from Breville, with the same result. Nothing we tried fixed the problem. But I can't really get myself to return a SECOND time, so we are just going to use the machine and dose the coffee ourselves, it's a 15-20 second process, so not a deal breaker. But it's sad that two machines with exactly the same issue arrived. If you check online, you will find that this issue is quite common... I noticed that when we were shopping for this machine, but decided that only bad news gets reported, not the good news, and the balance of the reviews were very positive. So we bought one. In the meantime, the Espresso we make for ourselves is REALLY good! So it's not too bad to have this minor inconvenience.

NOT SURE YOU CAN EXPECT ANYTHING MORE FROM A RESIDENTIAL GRADE MACHINE. IT HANDLES OLD AND FRESH BREWED BEANS WITH EASE. ONCE DIALED IN THIS IS A GREAT MACHINE. IVE HAD MINE GOING ON 2 YEARS WITHOUT ISSUES MAKING 2-4 LATTATES A DAY.

A great cup of coffee. But then we went to a friends house for Christmas and this is the one they had and it made a perfect cup of coffee. They bought it at a different store but I was very happy with Best Buy so I purchased it there. Every day I enjoy a perfect cup of coffee!

Love this machine but would buy the digital versio

I use it everyday to make americanos and for the hot water dispenser. Quality of the unit is phenomenal and great design. My only regret with not buying the digital version is the trouble I have locking in the grind settings. I feel like I find my groove and then the next bag of coffee I’m back to trying to find the right settings again.
