    We tried all the different settings, different filters and different proportions of water to coffee but could not get enough flavor out of this machine. Bought a Cuisinart instead for a fraction of the price, much better flavor, and many of the same functionality.

    Bought this coffee maker to get true scaa brewing. Barely gets to 190. Ac and no matter what customized setting you set it too. Stills only gets to 190 degrees. Really over rated

    Second coffee maker, more problems. It is the most disappointing coffee machine I've ever had. I have had the first one replaced because of many problems, mainly spraying coffee and steam out the sides of the pot, the digital features do not work properly, reading pot is too hot, having to wait or unplug to reset. Clogging. Having to descale weekly. Terrible taste to coffee as the spray turns the sides of the filter down. I am using proper filters for this machine. The second one twice this week had a very loud pop, and I found coffee exploded all over my kitchen. the Seal had popped right off. I cleaned everything, reinstalled the seal, and a week later same problem. No coffee for me this morning. My favorite time of day. And I had the seals clean and turned on tightly. There is just too much pressure from the water spraying out to hold them in place. I am now returning my second machine. The machine could be dangerous if exploding when a person standing next to it It will be weeks without a coffee maker waiting for exchange for a new machine that will probably be the same problems.

    Looks great but coffee is luke warm. Flavor and temperature are my most important characteristics. The flavor is good, but the caraffe does not keep the coffee warm. The coffee does not even come out hot, and then it hits the cold caraffe, which drives the temp down further to luke warm. The features are really nice, but I have to microwave my coffee each time, so I can't give it a good rating.

      Thank you for your review and feedback. As noted in the manual, we do suggest pre-heating the carafe and/or cup for best results. A pre-heated carafe or cup will help maintain the coffee's optimal temperature, and will keep coffee hotter for longer. Fill the carafe with hot water for about 30 seconds, then discard the water. brevilleusa

    The coffee maker made excellent coffee but cooled down so quickly that if you didn’t drink it immediately it was lukewarm.

    Couldn't get the coffee I wanted. Was trying smaller batches, but it just continually came out a little colder and less flavorful than expected.

    I have had a few coffee makers since I discovered, ok, realized is a better word, all the wonders of coffee. That said, this is the first one that I have had that goes beyond “entry level.” This Breville is far, far beyond that. It is a premium machine. Included is the coffee maker itself, stainless steel thermal carafe, cone filter basket, mesh reusable filter basket, plastic measuring spoon, 10 flat bottom paper coffee filters, water hardness testing strip and manual. Everything is packaged well, so I would not be concerned with damage if you are having the unit shipped. Moving to the unit itself, the Breville is well-designed, well-built and looks fantastic. Their reputation for quality is earned here as the unit has a good weight (it is a bit tall) and is solidly built with a nice blend of metal and plastic (where needed). Further, this is a great looking coffee maker. The brushed stainless steel, which matches that of their other appliances, gives it a sleek look that should work it anyone’s kitchen. Now, the coffee. Honestly, I could not be more pleased. The Breville seemingly has everything. It is all controlled via a clear LCD screen, a nob and a couple of buttons. There are settings for several brewing modes: Fast, Gold, Strong, My Brew, Over Ice and Cold Brew. This is where it gets cool. Fast and Strong are self-explanatory, but Gold (and I had to look this up) produces a coffee that meets certain industry standards for a cup of coffee (temperature, contact time…) Over Ice is similar to strong, but it compensates for the dilution of the coffee in ice to give you the right flavor balance. My Brew allows you to take control and customize several aspects of your coffee. You can control the bloom time, brew temperature and flow rate. Cold Brew gives you the ability to, well, have cold brew. This is one of my favorites. It takes a lot of the acidity away from the coffee. Lastly, as if all that is not enough, the machine does have the ability (in the My Brew options) to do pour over (although you need to purchase a $30 kit). It is wonderful to have a machine that gives you options. The operation is typical of any coffee maker. Once you pick your brewing mode you can choose from single serve up to 60oz. There is a programmable/timer setting that allows you to have coffee ready in the morning. I have found it brews quickly, so I have not used the timer much, but it is nice to have. The thermal carafe is well-designed (it collects the coffee with its lid on) and keeps the coffee warm for a couple of hours without giving it a poor taste. Since it is stainless steel, however, you can’t see or easily tell how much is remaining. A minor trade off, but some do prefer glass. Finally, I have found cleanup relatively easy. The stainless is a breeze, the shower is easy to remove and with a little work the carafe can be kept clean. The only rub here is that you cannot remove the water reservoir. Ultimately, there is a lot to like about this Breville machine, and I do. Designed well. Works superbly. Looks stylish. That checks a lot of boxes. Beyond that, it is great to see a machine that gives you so many options AND can just give you a great cup of coffee with the press of a button. I think this is a great machine for both the casual drinker as well as the connoisseur.

    - The carafe lid retains water and is impossible to fully clean (even with then bottle brushes) or fully dry. - Little dry flecks of coffee always pour out despite thorough cleaning. - Not only is attempting to clean it extremely time consuming, but eventually you don’t want to use it knowing how disgusting the inside of the lid is - The lid is impossible to open up for cleaning as it is glued, welded together

    We have an iron filter that injects air into our water. As a consequence, both times I filled the reservoir, air bubbles would cling to the side. This caused the machine to think the reservoir was empty and wouldn’t brew until I stuck my hand in and cleared the bubbles. Now, one would think, the container is clear and I can see the water level, why do I need a sensor to tell me it’s empty? For 300 dollars I expected a coffee maker that actually makes coffee on the first try. Back in the box it went.

    On my third one in a little over a year. Just stops brewing coffee which is too bad as the coffee is great. The machine is junk this unit didn’t last 2 months!

    Avoid this coffee maker at all costs. From the filter basket's "steal a cup" valve being a 50-50 chance of work, to the incessant "Fill Tank" and "Insert Carafe" errors, this machine is maddening. Oh, by the way, the Fill Tank error occurs with, you guessed it, a full tank. There's no way to clear the error other than to UNPLUG THE MACHINE, TAKE IT TO THE SINK, AND DUMP IT. I'll be returning this machine. Please, do yourself a favor, and don't buy this machine. It will save you a trip to return it.
