Great Coffee, Great Machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I was interested in buying a new coffee machine a few years back, I did extensive research on what machine was the best on the market. I discovered that only two machines at the time -- Bonavita and Technivorm Moccamaster – had machines that met the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) recommendations for brewing. Both are fairly basic machines with few features (actually, none). What drew me to the Breville Precision Brewer was that it had a brewing cycle that met the SCA’s recommendations AND additional features for a competitive price. I am comparing the Breville to my Bonavita. I also use a Breville grinder and AmazonFresh Donut Cafe Whole Bean Coffee, Medium Roast. I used the same amount of water and coffee as I would have in my Bonavita. I was impressed with all the pieces that come with the machine – you get a measuring spoon, both a reusable cone and reusable gold filter basket, a few basket filters to get you started, and a hard water tester. I have public water and use filtered water from my refrigerator for my coffee, and I had no idea what the hardness was. The Quick Start guide says the first thing to do (after hand washing the parts) is to set the hardness level on your machine (levels 1-5). What is DOESN’T tell you is how to read the test strip. I had to guess as to what the strip said. Then, it prompts you to flush your machine on a special Flush cycle. The actual manual also recommends an additional cycle of water (Fast Brew) to rinse out the machine. It has Gold Cup, Fast, Strong Brew, Ice Coffee, Cold Brew, and My Brew Cycles. The My Brew is for those who REALLY are particular about their coffee. You can adjust Bloom Time, Brewing Temp, etc. To me, coffee shouldn’t be THAT complicated, but it’s a nice feature to have. I’m not a big fan of cold coffee, either, so I didn’t try those modes. The Gold cycle was comparable to my Bonavita; I found almost no difference between the two. I will say that I liked the Breville slightly better. The coffee is also HOT! With the Gold cycle, you use the cone filter and fill the water to Cone Filter line. You can order an optional attachment for Pour Over Coffee. I’m not sure why you would want this, but it’s available. Now, a few suggestions for improvement. The buttons are a bit hard to push. It may be because the unit is new, but to start brewing I would have to push the button twice. The display will remind you to place the carafe (or cup, depending on cycle), but it doesn’t beep (in case you aren’t looking at the display) nor does it stop the process if the carafe isn’t there. This machine does have an Auto Start option, but you have to remember to set the clock first – something that the initial set up doesn’t prompt you to do. I would have also liked a steady LCD backlight instead of having to push a button/turn a dial to get it to light up. Lastly, I don’t know why they couldn’t have an available water filtration attachment. Filtered water makes the best coffee, and not everyone will have filtered water available. All in all, I really liked the Breville. It looks great on the counter, it’s easy to use, and makes great coffee.

Disappointed

Coffeeeeee
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me tell you. My family is addicted to coffee. We have been using this one daily. This Breville machine blows us away with the level of quality. We mostly make coffee on the Gold setting. I will say, this makes an amazing cup of coffee. We have had a few other coffee makers in the past but this one is really just great. It emulates the quality of pouring over while being wicked fast. Really really fast. I wish it had a built-in grinder but I still enjoy the process of hand grinding my beans in order to really bring out the best of the coffee. Make sure you use fresh beans! If you're going to have an expensive machine, then you should do it the right way. Older beans just don't have that same kick. Things to be aware of. You should be careful with the initial settings for water hardness and stuff. If you do slip up, you can do a factory reset and it will allow you to go through the settings again. I think you hold down all the buttons for a few seconds. Coffee takes about 8-9 minutes to brew a full carafe, which is pretty good. I love the carafe, the coffee stays hot for hours and warm for the rest of the day. My family goes through coffee like crazy but one time we didn't finish the whole brew, we did notice that the coffee was still warm from the morning. It automatically knows how much coffee to brew based on the amount of water. I love the label telling me which filter type to use and also how many scopes of coffee to put with the amount of water. It's on the reservoir itself. My one complaint is that there is always a little bit of water left in the reservoir after making a pot of coffee. All in all, I think this is a great machine that replicates the pour over process to create a great cup of coffee.

Supreme coffee brewer! Very happy with it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Breville coffee brewer is a very nice high quality precision coffee machine that makes a great cup of coffee or even a full pot of coffee and because I can control it I won't be looking back at my Keurig machine anymore as a backup for a quick cup. Out of the box, it was very easy to set up and the directions are easy to follow. After setting it up and following the instructions (which is important for the machine to brew a perfect tasting cup or pot of coffee). In terms of speed it can brew a full pot in under 10 minutes and a single cup in about 3-5 minutes depending on how you program it. I love that you can customize how it brews and control it precisely. Of course, the machine has built in settings that are ready to go as well. With regard to precision, this machine definitely nails it in terms of temperature and taste. This coffee brewer is very well-built all around and looks good too! The insulated pot is very nice and definitely keeps your coffee hot. I do believe that it will be maintenance-free for years to come and would highly recommend this machine!

Very Solid Coffee Maker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the Breville Precision Brewer coffee maker is an excellent product. It brews delicious coffee and with the numerous settings, although at times confusing, you can customize the coffee based on your taste. The quite heavy stainless steel carafe keeps your coffee hot for hours. I tested at 12 hours and the coffee was still very warm. Be warned that the carafe is heavy so if you have difficulty lifting items that weigh a few pounds, this system is probably not the right one for you. I do think, and my wife agrees, that the coffee brewed buy this system does taste better than our previous coffee machine.

Warning! Does not keep coffee hot
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The kettle isn’t heated and isn’t well insulated. Hence we are always microwaving our coffee. For all the fancy stuff this thing has, someone missed the boat on the essential part of coffee - it’s usually hot.

Very happy!!! Great coffee!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I are not coffee snobs but we do appreciate a GOOD cup of coffee in the morning so we decided to splurge on the Breville Precision Brewer Thermal. We have only used it for about two weeks but are very happy with our purchase thus far. Given the cost of this unit we are looking for longevity so only time will tell about that aspect. We cannot find our preferred brand of beans right now and are using something else and the coffee is still great. The coffee is hot and stays hot. It is also very easy to get to every part of the unit to keep it clean.

Coffee Brewers Dream
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Breville Precision Brewer 12-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker, makes a darn good cup of coffee! Just by looking at it you can see that this is a well-designed coffee brewer; none of its parts feel cheap or flimsy. Quite the contrary. Quality is the word I’d use. This Breville Precision 60oz. drip coffeemaker is designed to brew craft coffee at home, with ease. There’s a reason the Breville name has the reputation it has. Of course, you pay a bit more than you would for other brands of “small” kitchen appliances, but this Breville Brewer is definitely worth its cost, especially for people who are serious about coffee. It’s a good idea to thoroughly review the instruction booklet before using the appliance, even if you’re familiar with this type of coffeemaker. The digital display allows you to fine tune the brewer’s settings, enabling you to perfect that ‘perfect’ pot (or cup) of coffee. Included with the brewer is a sturdy plastic scoop (for precise coffee grounds portion measurement), a cone-shaped filter basket, reusable mesh filter basket, and some paper coffee filters to get you started. A small detail worth mentioning was the addition of a circular finger grip on the socket plug. That was a nice touch, promoting not only safety, but ease of unplugging the cord. Upon completion of the brewing cycle, I didn’t feel any heat at all coming from the outer surface of the carafe, although the top of the filter basket unit was quite warm to the touch. Even after brewing a full pot of coffee around dinner time, and leaving half the amount in the insulated carafe overnight, the leftover coffee was still quite warm the next morning. I personally appreciated the Single Cup option, as I’m not always wanting or needing to make a full, or even a partial, pot of coffee. And I will say that the Fast Brew feature, while a desirable function, didn’t seem to brew the coffee any more quickly than other coffeemakers I’ve had in the past. Coffee lovers - this Breville Precision Thermal Brewer is truly a delight to use, and its sleek, brushed stainless steel finish is sure to compliment anyone’s kitchen.

Best cup of coffee made at home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Breville Precision Brewer is the best coffee maker that my house has ever used. When set to the Gold Cup brewing mode, the coffee it produces is on par with the best coffee you would get at a high-end coffee shop. There were many features of this coffee maker that I liked. This unit has a stainless steel finish and looks good enough to leave out on the kitchen counter. It has a 3 foot cord which is an average length. The thermal carafe also has a stainless steel finish and works incredibly well at keep coffee hot. For example, I made coffee in the morning and it was still quite warm many hours later. Also, I have to say that the carafe pours very well and allows every last bit to be poured out which was a pleasant surprise compared to some older coffee makers I have used. This coffee maker has 6 brewing modes: Gold Cup, Fast, Strong Brew, Ice Coffee, Cold Brew, and My Brew. The last mode, My Brew, allows customization of bloom time, brew temperature, and flow rate to make your brew to your exact specifications. With the other modes, the unit will automatically adjust the water temperature and brew time to make the perfect cup of coffee. It can brew a single cup or up to 12 cups if you like. I liked that the brew time was fast even when making 12 cups. It also has an alarm mode that you can set up so that the coffee maker has finished making your exact choice of brew at a specific time, which is very handy in the morning. If all of these features sound complex to someone new to coffee makers, I must say that I found all of the settings to be very intuitive and logical. You aren't going to need to stand in your kitchen with the user manual for 30 minutes to make your coffee. There are some issues to be aware of with this coffee maker, too. There is no built-in coffee grinder to make the exact right amount coffee grinds for your selection, so you will end up with unused grinds at the end. This isn't a big deal to me because I found that I learned the right amount the more I used the maker. This also means that when you are making coffee, the operation will take up some space in your kitchen with both the coffee maker and a grinder out on the counter. It could be an issue in a kitchen with not much counter space. That said, this coffee maker has made the best coffee I have had at home, makes it quickly, makes it to my specifications, and keeps it warm for quite awhile. I would recommend it for any serious coffee family or even small business.

very nice coffee maker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice coffee maker, well built and delivers a nice brew. Whats in the box: Coffee maker, cone filter, permanent basket filter, coffee scoop. Features: multiple brewing modes including fast, gold and completely customizable brew mode. Auto timer for starting at a set time. Thermal carafe. Build quality: Very nice. High quality metals and plastics. Everything clicks into place very nicely. Nothing feels loose. Use: Brew time is at a good pace. I normally use the Gold setting, which takes longer than Fast, but has a better taste in my mind. I don't use the customizable settings, because it actually is SO customizable with temperature, bloom time etc that I don't even know where to start. Thermal carafe is very high quality and keeps coffee warm for a nice period of time. There is no "clicking" when the coffee is brewing as what happens in some other pots as the coffee drips into the carafe. If you take the carafe out during brewing, it does not drip at all. As in I have not seen a single drip come out! My previous coffee pot would drip like crazy to the point I had to have rags available, or just wait until it was completely finished brewing. There are options of iced brewing if you buy an optional accessory, which I do not have so I have not tested that. All in all: Great coffee pot. Good taste, nice features, great built quality. Quiet during brewing. Highly recommended.

Great coffee maker for a coffee lover
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice coffee maker! Out of the box I had to wrestle to get it out but it was packed very nicely to protect the product. After reading the instructions I was a little intimidated because my current coffee maker is just so simple. I attempted to do the water test but had to reset the machine because it wasn't simple to enter what you think your hardness is. Looks very nice on the counter and is rather tall but slim. I have to pull it out to fill the water reservoir and then push it back for brewing - no biggie. The reservoir can't be removed so that makes it difficult to clean, and it leaves some water leftover in it. I have to actually dump the whole machine to empty when not using it for a few days. I like that you have many different ways to brew your coffee but I have only used the Fast brew thus far. There are also a few different filter options you can use, the mesh basket, round filters and cone filters. The carafe is stainless steel and keeps the coffee hot for many hours with no change in flavor - huge plus! Down side of the carafe is that it is a little heavy. The only cons I would say are that you can't remove and clean the water reservoir and that the panel doesn't stay lit - would like to see the clock all the time. Great quality product that produces great tasting coffee with many brew options!!

It has one job and it does it great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This makes coffee, and it uses technology and artistry to brew some fantastic coffee! It comes complete with a reusable basket filter for full pots and a cone adapter for use with cone filters for smaller servings. It has three basic settings, "fast," "gold," and "strong," that determine how long the coffee "blooms," brews, temperature, etc. "Gold" brewing is some kind of an industry standard for serious coffee aficionados. So -- my experience with it is it really pulls the delicious coffee flavor out of the grounds. It's not awesome at making a cup of really concentrated coffee for lattes and such, but you can get a pour-over adapter for it, so that's worth a try. The thermal carafe is really nice. It kept my coffee pleasantly warm for 2 1/2 hours, without the coffee tasting burnt or stale. The controls are minimalistic. There's a knob for settings, a button for "start," and another button to tell it to brew at your set time. I'd much rather see more selection buttons than having to dial in the settings you want because it us just not that intuitive to use so I'd have to leave instructions if someone else wants to use it. So -- overall if you want amazing tasting coffee and you're into the craft of brewing it, this is a great choice for you.

best coffee maker I've ever used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love coffee. In search of a grand cup of coffee at home I've read several reviews, purchased multiple coffee makers, and talked to everyone I know that shares a love of coffee. The best-tasting coffee probably goes to my Aeropress, but the downside is the manual nature requiring precious minutes in the morning as I'm scrambling to get ready for work. The Breville precision brewer is amazing. Aesthetically, the brushed stainless steel looks phenomenal with all of our other modern-style appliances, and is easy to clean. But most importantly, the system makes great coffee. The programmable brew option lets me have a cup of coffee ready at the same time every morning for me, so I can grab it and head out the door. Easy to use, easy on the eyes, and well-planned design. Lots of options for different brews based on your preferences.

Nice but loud
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.K-cuppers need not apply – strictly grounds only. Easy to unbox and seems very sturdily built (a lot of metal). There are a multitude of settings – to many to go thru here – suffice to say that you can pretty much dial in the brew to your exact likes/specifications. One word for the gold setting – wired! We found that the mesh filter tasted a bit plasticky, maybe that will go away as it is used more. Using the paper filters it produced a great brew. Downsides; It is LOUD. Seems to be from it “sucking” the water out during brewing. It also shakes during this time too. We tried positioning it on other counters, etc. – but it did the same thing. No built in coffee grinder. Overall a great alternative to k-cups.

Breville Precision Brewer: Elevating Coffee Experi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having spent six years as a barista in specialty coffee shops, I've made a lot of coffee and done a lot of experimentation in the process to learn how to make the best cup of coffee. The Breville Precision Brewer caught my attention with its customizable temperature settings, ensuring precise extraction for various coffee types. What distinguishes this brewer is its innovative design, doing away with the conventional warming plate. Instead, it incorporates a thermal carafe that keeps coffee fresh longer, all while preserving its rich flavor. This feature is a game-changer, particularly for those who relish their coffee or frequently entertain guests. In essence, the Breville Precision Brewer is a top choice for coffee enthusiasts, providing precise temperature control and extending the freshness of your brew with its thermal carafe. It's an essential addition to any coffee lover's kitchen, delivering consistently exceptional coffee experiences at home.

Love it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had my new coffee maker about a week now and I must say it’s been a great change. My previous coffee maker was a drip machine, but I love the design, features and better taste this one provides. When I received it, it was very well packaged so I didn’t find any damage even though it was shipped to me. It comes with both a cone filter and a flat bottom filter basket if you have a preference or have an abundance of one type of paper coffee filters (like I do) they won’t go to waste. It also came with a coffee scoop and a few paper filters so if you have the coffee beans, you’re set. It was taller than my previous coffee maker so I wasn’t quite sure if it would fit under my cabinets, but it does. Since it is so tall and a little heavier it makes filling the water tank a little cumbersome. I love the fact it has several different settings: Gold Cup, Fast, Strong, Ice, Cold Brew and My Brew. Honestly haven’t fiddled around much with My Brew, but the other features make wonderful coffee and quickly if you need it for dessert or something. I should say I wasn’t impressed with the Cold Brew function since I thought it would require less coffee grounds, but it seems you still need to put more than you would though not double brewed. The carafe is really heavy duty and keeps coffee hot and fresh for a very long time without tasting more bitter or burnt though. It is stainless steel and there are no measuring markers so you have to guess and see when you put the water in the water reservoir which isn’t a deal breaker, but I feel markers makes it much easier and brings me to my next point and probably biggest con. I’m very surprised with all the functionality and customization, you can’t input how much coffee you want to brew. It will always brew all the water that’s put into the reservoir. I think it would be extremely nice to be able to fill the reservoir then choose if you only want a single cup or only 6 cups of coffee, etc. All in all, it’s a great coffee maker and I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a coffee maker with a lot of functionality and that will stay stylish for many years to come.
