Hot and great tasting coffee!

Great coffee maker! It has both options so you can brew for just a cup or if you want to brew a pot, the pot by the way, keeps coffee warm for a pretty good while, I just replaced a keurig coffee maker, this is so much more versatile and absolutely love the fact that can brew a whole pot and have coffee ready for my whole work day at my home office, also the coffee has a crisp taste even if it has been on the pot for a while still keeps the fresh brewed taste and aroma!
You can also brew cold coffee (haven't tried it, as not my taste, coffee should be hot!), but its an option. Also it has an option to brew you a "gold" certified coffee, I must say it will do the mechanic part (like brewing it slower or on a certain way), however, remember, the quality of the coffee grains you use, is essential! I have my own grinder, so I always have fresh ground coffee, so you should try that too!

I’m actually very impressed with this coffee maker. I was super intimidated at first because it looked very space-gadgety. But it’s surprisingly straight forward. The coffee that it brews is absolutely high quality. My father gets up to brew it at the crack of dawn every morning, and it’s still fresh almost 4 hours later! It’s steaming, hot and doesn’t taste like it’s just been sitting there cooking. It tastes like you just made it. Super happy!!

The Precision Brewer has all of the features you need to make great coffee at home. You can keep it in the Gold Cup mode and brew a precisely balanced pot of coffee. That is, according to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).
I decided to tinker with the settings to make a custom profile. You can change the water temperature, bloom time and flow rate to my liking. I got a high-quality coffee grinder so I can control almost every aspect of the coffee-making process. As a result, I can consistently make the best cups of coffee. The thermal carafe keeps coffee hot enough for at least an hour. I have had the unit for almost a year. I use filtered water, clean it regularly and descale every month. The coffee tastes just as good as it did on Day 1.
From a coffee taste quality standpoint, the main competition for the Breville Precision Brewer is the Techinvorm Moccamaster.
While the Technivorm is a more attractive unit which gives the user more control, there are no convenience features like Auto Start. For me, it was not worth losing those features to get arguably incrementally better coffee.

Owned a breville with grinder built in. It worked good for years and Breville will repair for a fair price or sell you a new model for an upgrade price. We took advantage of that, but bought this one and a separate breville grinder. Good choice. Easy to use - quiet - and the coffee is perfect. We will gift the others and bring more people into the breville universe.

Best Coffee Maker I ever bought

I wanted to order a new coffee maker to replace my Cuisinart machine. I did a lot of research and ended up ordering the Breville based on so many good reviews. I am glad I bought this one, it makes a really good cup of coffee and it is very easy to use and clean. I like the stainless steel material it looks very nice in my kitchen. The water tank is easy to fill and the coffee basket is big and easy to pour the coffee. You can change the settings to different coffee style. My favorite is the strong setting. I haven't tried the cold brew yet. You can program the night before to automatic start in the morning and works very well. The only downside is that there is some plastic inside the basket and in the lid for the carafe but it less plastic than most coffee makers. You can buy the Breville Pour Over Adapter for Precision Brewer to use with a pour over basket that is not plastic.

Nice Upgrade

I upgraded to this machine when my ninja bit the dust. First, this machine is beautiful. I know, shouldn't matter, but for something that sits on my countertop in my open kitchen, it was probably more of a factor in my decision to purchase this than it should have been, but there you go...it looks good. The fact that it makes good coffee, even better. It's not a simple machine - read the manual and it will all make sense why all the options, but once you have it down, you're good to go. You can brew a BIG pot of coffee and the carafe keeps it hot for hours. I like that it shows you on the water reservoir the number of scoops of coffee to use for that amount of water...easy. If there is one feature I wish this had it would be to be able to control the amount of coffee from the controls - as it is, the amount of water you put in, that's how much coffee will be brewed. It would be nice to fill the reservoir and be able to brew a cup at a time, but you can't...it empties whatever is in the reservoir. Minor issue, not something I regret my purchase over.

I was torn between two coffee makers, They were both highly rated, I picked this one you could set a starting time and the other one did not. It makes great coffee, keeps coffee hot and easy to clean. A clear winner

I'm tired of K-Cups and waste. I want to make good tasting coffee and and a variety of types, but didn't want to become a barista. This machine has been great. I use the single cup, cone filter, gold standard selection the most. All I really had to do was read the directions of this unit and the Breville Grinder which I also bought and I was good to go. The carafe is also excellent and I use it if I'm entertaining. I've even made coffee for family and brought it with me on visits. It holds heat very well.

My favorite coffee maker ever so far. Very, very sturdy and makes fantastic coffee--literally tastes better than anything our old $60 drip machine ever made. The well-insulated pot keeps it warm all day, too, without using additional energy to keep a hot plate running (which slowly turns coffee to sludge on other coffee makers). And I really love being able see and clean the water tank; plus it reminds you to descale every few months.

We researched drip coffee makers for weeks and decided on this one, and we haven’t been disappointed! Coffee tastes great, easy to use, and coffee stays hot in carafe. I like this better than the similar version with glass carafe (and no replacement available for it currently if the glass broke). I haven’t tried the cold brew setting yet but will soon. A little expensive (we got it on sale and used some Best Buy certificates to offset the cost), but we had our last coffee pot for 13+ years so I’m hopeful this Breville lasts as long if not longer! It looks nice on our countertop too

Breville - Finally Got One

Reason for 4 stars: I ordered this online w/next day shipping. Several days later I was notified that it would not be available until Jan 2nd. Oops! Because we needed a coffee maker ASAP I decided to look elsewhere. I found a store that had it in stock so went & purchased. My original order suddenly showed up the next day. Since I didn't need this one anymore I returned it to the store.
As far as the coffee maker itself I would give it 5 stars. Is working really well, & we've now figured out the settings to create coffee like we like (hot & strong). It is a little pricey--more than I've ever paid, But if it lasts for years it's worth it.

Good replacement for a 12 Cup Barrista Brain

I had a coffee emergency after my last Barrista Brain finally broke down. A bit of searching turned up this machine as a possible replacement. Quality of the brew was the most important feature, but the 12 cup capacity came in as a close second.
One thing I had never seen before was the test strip to test the water during setup. It was quick and easy to use, and gave the machine a bit of extra information to help brew the coffee right.
I haven't tested less than 12 cups because there is little point. Then I'd have less than 12 cups.
It works great and brews quickly. And the coffee tastes great!

Replaced Bonavita, which worked well for 5 years. I like the extra capacity and customizable options on this Breville.
It is SCA certified, meaning it can brew at proper temp. It has a showerhead which soaks grinds better and an AUTO TIMER....comes in handy. Easy to clean, even though carafe is not detachable. This is my NEW goto coffee maker, so far...follow the formula and the coffee is delicius. THAT is the ultimate test.

Beautiful, Pricey, Versatile, Wonderful

Not only the best looking automatic drip coffee make out there, but makes the best coffee we've had ... for automatic drip of course. I bought this for it's beauty, versatility and because my travel mugs fit underneath. Turns out that it also makes fantastic coffee. The versatile controls allow you to make great tasting coffee, and really bad coffee. You'll have to learn what works for each type, but it's worth learning. I thought the control could improve a cup of coffee, but didn't know there was so much room for improvement.
We coupled this with a grinder to really start enjoying different roasts. The world is such a bigger place now! It also makes wonderful iced coffee.
It takes a little longer to set up and clean than what we were using before, but it's worth the little extra effort, well worth it. I look forward to every chance to make a cup or a pot now. Weekends are that much more fun as I don't have to face a day's worth of office K-cups.
And the carafe keeps coffee piping hot for a long, long time, without continuous heating like is needed for glass carafes. The carafe pours smooth and drip free. Why has nobody ever made one that pours like this before?
If you can afford the luxury price, it's well worth the money. It exceeded my high expectations.

The Perfect Cup of Java

With the old pot dying it was time to replace with a serious java machine. We looked at the Mochamaster and the Breville. We like the concept of replacing the "hot plate" w/glass carafe with the insulated SS carafe. The coffee remains fresh and hot for up to 2 hrs. Plenty of time to enjoy your brew. When you use this Breville with fresh ground French Roast, it's like being in Paris at your favorite cafe. We have had this unit now for over a month and our glad we chose the Breville. The quality justifies the price.

This coffee maker is top-notch! It has several stock settings but you can also create a custom brew setting by adjusting the bloom time, drip rate and temperature. I worked at Starbucks for several years and this machine offers way more customization than what we used! It can brew small batches (aka single cups), iced coffee and has a setting to slowly drip-brew over the course of several hours if you want to make cold brew.
The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours. and I really like how the water tank is clearly visible and has a large opening, this makes it easy to fill and wipe out. Note that the water tank is NOT removable, but I view this as a good thing because that is one less thing to eventually leak/fail (it also has "prisms" built into the bottom of the storage tank to detect the water level inside; it will automatically disable certain brew options if the tank is too full so it doesn't overflow on the counter. For example, it won't let you brew Single Cup if you add more than 20oz of water in the tank).
PRO TIP: Use carnauba wax or car polish on the stainless steel surfaces to protect it from water spot
