Needed a printer and scanner especially at tax time

This is a great printer. I previously owned a Brother printer which lasted for about nine years. My only issue with the new printer is that when you need to lift the printer cover to put in a sheet and then close it, it tends to slam shut no matter on how you try to prevent that from happening.

The Brother DCP-L2640DW was so easy to set-up! I am not a techy person and I had this set-up quickly. Easy to follow directions and the download made the installation a no-brainer! I would tell anyone looking for a new 3-in-1 printer take a look at the Brother!

The setup was very quick and easy. A few short comings.
1. If it goes into a deep sleep, sometimes you have to power off and back on to wake it up and use it.
2. The software instruction need improvement. I have to hit scan on the machine , then run to the computer to tell it which program to scan to. I have not found a way to have a default scan program/ folder. The previous model allowed a default program.
I am sure all of this can be fixed, if instruction were written by a user and not a tech writer engineer..

so far it works like it is supposed to.. wasn't too difficult to set up.

I returned this because the touchscreen was horrible! I homeschool and print stuff a lot!!! I do a ton of double-sided printing and it was not a simple process to get that and didn't have the ability to make a shortcut like my prior brother. I got a different model and it's much better.

Printer constantly refuses to connect to network. Contacted Brother and they finally gave up and said it would not work with 5G network?? Contacted Best Buy tech folks and they eventually got it to work via various software downloads. Worked for a couple of days but same problem has returned. Every other wireless device in our home works flawlessly so not a network problem. Also has a frustrating automatic "Deep Sleep" requirement that requires you to manually wake up the printer every time you wish to print. Will return today. Extremely disappointed

This printer is an outstanding one for Home office use and just general printing tasks. It’s two sided print capability along with it scanning great features. It’s a great update from My previous brother printer that had become outdated.

If you feel you aren't getting the correct yield out of your toner cartridge, consider the following:
1. Is the toner cartridge the starter cartridge that came with the machine or is it a replacement toner cartridge?
If the toner cartridge is the starter cartridge that came with the machine, the start cartridge has a lower amount of toner compared to the standard and high yield replacement cartridges and doesn't yield as high a page count as the replacement toners.
