    Unexpectedly good performance!

I have a very good Canon flat bed scanner, but in order to scan a multipage document on European-sized paper the bed was too short. Since the condition of the bound book the document was in required that I cut out the pages to scan separately it occurred to me that a sheetfed scanner might work, but I was worried about the quality of this scanner for the price. One gets what one pays for, but it turned out that this scanner did the job like a champ! It was good that the scanner comes with a transparent carrier because the paper I needed to scan was rather delicate. Of course the carrier is not required to scan things. This scanner is a valuable addition to my home office! To say that I am pleased with this its performance is to understate it.

    Great Product & Big Disappointment

Pros: 1. Light & Mobile 2. Relatively decent price for a mobile scanner that does its job (if it lasts) 3. Decent DPI for B&W paperwork, works great for backing up your documents Cons: 1. Overpriced Fragile/Cheaply Made USB Cable 2. Poor service support & customer experience. 3. Quality is not the best for color images or detailed scans. 4. Saturation is a bit funny. Main complaint is that the USB cable breaks within 6-7 weeks of usage, warranty is only 90 days for "accessories" so I ended up not getting covered because I was too busy to call until then. I asked for an extension but they weren't flexible, and offered me to buy their cable on their website which is $17.38. OVERPRICED CABLE!

Hi, We are glad to hear the machine is great regarding light weight, price and DPI. However, the USB cable, poor print quality and your customer service experience were a disappointment. I'd like to help. The scanner has a Micro USB port and a USB 2.0 Type A/B cable can be used. We recommend a cable that is no longer then 4 feet. Follow the steps in the link below to improve the print quality.

Versatile small scanner at a good price

Scans both long documents and cards, which some other scanners of the same size & price point don't do. Some users might not like having 4 different operations to download drivers for, but if you like things modular, this can be a useful 'fail-safe.' The 'towing sheet' for guiding small cards & documents through the scanner is unusual but ingenious; replaces taping items head-to-tail to consolidate multiple pay records into a single document. The DS-620 fits better in my laptop case than other bulkier portable scanners. Brother has been a brand with a reputation for durability. Some longer documents, e.g., Social Security award letters, may stick partway if they are cut, wrinkled or soiled; the 'towing sheet' could counteract this problem. Overall, not as simple as some scanners in its class, but more versatile; good brand at a very good price (bought on special sale at Best Buy).

    Best receipt scanner!!

I tried two cheaper similar scanners and returned them both. They were not feeding the paper right so the scan either fails or comes out all crooked. I went with this Brother 620 after reading all great reviews and I was not disappointed. Perfect scans no matter what I threw at it. I scan mostly receipts and they all come out perfect not like the ones I returned which always cut off the top and bottom. If you are looking for a receipt scanner you can't go wrong with this one.

I am a mobile notary and I needed a fast, reliable, mobile scanner. I bought this and returned it because it wasn't compatible with my chrome book. I instead bought a doxie q , which had great reviews and it was absolutely awful. I decided to buy this one again and if I needed to I would buy a laptop it was compatible with. What I discovered is this has an app for iphone and all I needed was a hot spot for the scanned docs to go directly to my phone. I scan ids front and back and pages and pages of docs. This has incredible clarity, is super fast and never feeds crooked or messes up the original. I read some reviews that said it feeds crooked and chews up the original. I can only imagine that those people are paid to badmouth this scanner. This is such an awesome product. I would most definitely recommend it. This has absolutely changed the way I do business and has added incredible value.

    Portable Scanner Bar None

Lugging around a huge printer-scanner in my car was starting to wear on me. Then I saw this! Now I just slip it into my backpack along with my laptop and I am good to go. I have been using it ever since. There's a higher priced model out there that simultaneously does both sides I think but this one suffices for my needs. Reliable. DPI resolution adjustable--I keep it at 300 DPI. Any less and you have to deal with pixelation. Any more and the scanning might slow down. 300 is optimum and this scanner does it very well. Best of all, this scanner is USB powered. No need for external power adapters (more wires). I tried using my phone to take pictures of notes, pictures, and documents but it takes to long to get it right if I can get it right. This bar scanner is the best, bar none (pun intended). I highly recommend it if your needs are like mine.

    Perfect for limited space

My computer desk at work has no extra space for a scanner so I needed a scanner that was small, provided a clear copy and easy to use. This scanner is better than I ever expected! Based on some of the reviews I had read I was expecting a slower scan time but it's fast and easy to use. Much better than the HP all in one I have at home. It's pretty much plug and play. The initial set up was a bit confusing since the instructions in the users manual showed a different picture than what came up on the CD. I just clicked on the first topic and clicked play and installation started right up. Due to it's small size I am able to store it when not in use. My documents are now easily scanned into an electronic format and so clear you would think they had been copied instead of scanned. The price was right and cheaper than some of the discount software sites. The IT guy at work was even impressed!

    Fast, compact, accurate scanner

I use the scanner mostly to scan business documents into Evernote and Google Drive. Also some color photos for my personal archive. For something small enough to throw in your computer bag and take to a meeting, it's remarkably fast and the scan quality is excellent. Best of all, it's powered entirely by the USB cord--no separate power cord required

I purchased the scanner for use with my Mac Pro laptop. The Best Buy employee told me it was compatible but I discovered it was not when I tried to install the drivers and software. Fortunately I also own a Windows based PC. The scanner works great utilizing Windows. It scan quickly and the images are crisp. Just wish it worked with Apple OS. So if you are a Windows user I re omens buying this scanner. It is compact and efficient. Great for traveling or just using at home or in the office.

I'm very much impressed with the high quality of this scanner for its size. I can now store all my documents digitally, without worrying about them degrading and becoming unreadable over time. The scanner can do up to 600 dpi in color. The optical character recognition software is a great feature when you want to search a document for keywords. I prefer using the DSMobile Capture app to scan, and then use PageManager later to enable OCR and merge/split PDF files, or convert to other formats. Highly recommended. Great product!

This scanner works admirably. It seems you have to use the brother software for it, and scanning multiple page PDFs isn't as easy as I expected. You have to load each page in individually, it can't handle a small stack and pulling from the top. You also have to select multi-page PDF in the software or else it will scan everything as a single page file. Image quality is OK, speed is good, space taken up is very good.

I needed a portable solution for my Surface to scan my artwork and this Brother is perfect. The 3rd Party software that is bundled with it is amazing. Nuance PaperPort 12 is an extremely high quality program for organization and arrives with a PDF reader. The business card feature automatically captures key information from the card and places it in the needed fields in the software, too. I scan Letter and Legal size hand drawn images for archive and post production and the transfer quality is great. I recommend this product for size, speed and ease of use.

I like to collect a lot of paperwork and receipts because I organize them electronically as well as hardcopy. I like how portable and easy it is to use. I also like how you can easily customize the format in between scans. The one thing I don't like is the fact that sometimes the paper you feed through comes out slanted/crooked no matter how straight you feed it through.

I have used a high end scanner so I was concerned to purchase this one. I only needed it to travel with to be able to scan a few things. It was worked great. It came with a CD which was useless to me. I found where to download the software. They need to make this more obvious since many laptops dont have a CD player. It scans one page at a time, nice clear picture. Scans credit cards. I have not figured out how to get more than one page in a document. I am happy with what it does. Not for high volume of scanning.

    Paperport Software!!!

I bought this scanner so I wouldn't have to use my flatbed scanner for the simple task of reducing paperwork. The scanner is small and does NOT require taking up yet another outlet for power...it is USB powered. The quality of the scan is nothing to write home about, but after a little tweaking it's good enough for my purpose. Now the software. I had a Visioneer Paperport keyboard/scanner 20+ years ago. It was a keyboard with a scanner built in with Paperport software, of course. Paperport software is easy to use and designed to keep you organized. The DSmobileCapture (TWAIN) software is a complete joke. Spend a little time and learn the Paperport software. I promise you will be pleased, and organized!

I bought this scanner to work on a photo project however, I underestimated the amount of photos I had. This product is ideal for occasional scanning but not recommended for large projects. The quality of the scanned photo was great and the ease in which to use the scanner and my laptop was easy. The downfall for me was the fact that I had to scan pictures individually rather than feed multiple photos at once. For the price and for what it is designed for, this product is decent but I should have bought a pricier scanner to do my photo project.
