I own a trucking business and this was a perfect item for my drivers to scan proof of deliveries to me with now hassle. No more retaking pics and bad phone quality. I would recommend for drivers.

The PC mode works well and it scans mostly correctly. The wifi scan is a struggle in my opinion. Working sometimes and not at all the others. Switching between programs to scan sometimes locks it up too. The DS620 has been our workhorse but I am not a fan in my early testing.

None of my chargers can charge this scanner. The Anker charger didn't work on this thing. My uninterrupted power supply also can't charge this scanner. The battery only charges when it's connected to the USB port on my Wacom pen display. This is a very frustrating situation. I don't understand why this scanner doesn't work with my chargers when everything else charges just fine.
Another annoying thing is the connection. Its physical data port is the same one you can find on one of those old portable hard drives. It's not even a MicroUSB port. So, don't lose the data cable. This thing would be much easier to use if it had a USB C port.
The scans all have rows of thin straight lines across the entire scan. The lines aren't visible in darker areas but they can be seen in the lighter or white areas on the scan if you zoom in on the scan.
As we all know, Brother's drivers are a hit or miss. They might work. They might not work. It depends on your operating system and version. Mine doesn't want to work with my Macbook Pro on wire connection. The only way to access the scanner from my Macbook is to use it in wifi mode. Horrible user experience. The driver can detect the scanner in the scanner selection menu. But, when it comes to actually scan the document, the software suddenly says it cannot detect the scanner. Go back to the scanner selection menu, it can still detect the darn scanner! Why Brother? It's like you've ordered your food at McDonald's. The staff gives you your tray, then take the burger away and tells you they are out of burgers. Why???
We are sorry that you are experiencing power issues with your Brother DS940DW machine and we understand your disappointment. Our Brother Customer Support Team is on stand-by to provide quality products and service to our customers via online, email or live chat: www.brother-usa.com/brother-support

Amazing for road warriors, great for desktops

This thing is nearly perfect for home office and on the road needs. I travel a lot, so I am getting a lot of use on this product so far. Here is my in-depth review.
Unboxing:
The box is rather simple stating the specs in a non-flashy manner. Inside there is all manner of documentation, the unit itself and a USB 3.0 cable (the larger kind, not USB-C).
Setup:
I tried two different setups, one with wi-fi on my Macbook and the other wired with my desktop Windows PC. Initially you need to install the “Brother iPrint&Scan” app which can be found on iOS, the Mac App store or on the brother website. After that installation is pretty easy with the password on the bottom of the device or a direct connection. Just make sure the switch is in the correct position of which there are three choices… wireless, connected and SD Card.
Usage:
Once set up I was greatly impressed scanning to my Mac wirelessly. There was a little charge when I unboxed but enough to let me demo it. I put in a random sheet of paper and selected duplex and it scanned with great quality and no problems the first time. The software is a little bare bone, but it allowed me to easily add pages or save to various formats.
I then plugged it into my PC and setup was similar and easy, not much change in the experience. I also tried it on iOS, the app works similar to the wireless function on a PC or Mac. On iOS I had a little trouble connection via Wifi as it always assumed the connection was for internet and defaulted to another Wifi or LTE, but it eventually worked.
The greatest option for your road warriors out there is the Micro SD option. Toss in a Micro SD card (a 32GB used for testing), flip the switch the card option and it will scan directly to the card, no computer needed until you need access to the file. There are basic options on the device control panel for color, mono, pdf, jpg, 2 side or 1 side so you need no PC interaction. Obviously, there is no screen to see the results but if you are in a hurry, this option is rather priceless.
Cons:
The only negative I could think of is the lack of any kind of auto feeder. This is to be expected on a device of this size so as long as the user is aware it is not a big deal, but if you scan a lot of documents it might be a little bit of an issue. USB-C would have been a way better addition but connection over the USB 3.0 cable is fast, just requires you to carry another cable around.
Summary:
Overall a great device that is small, great looking and, reliable and works well. It is outstanding for anyone who is away from a desk or travelling often but can also be used to great effect for a home office so long as you don’t scan all day. Battery on it is outstanding, just be sure to keep the USB 3.0 cord.

I returned this scanner because it was much more difficult to use than my Epson ES-50. I did not have time or patients to figure it out so I boxed it back up and returned it.
