I was so excited about this printer's ability to print double sided, it worked well for the first five pages but that's all. After this I kept getting error message after error message. I called customer support and was on hold for about 20 minutes before anyone would talk to me, then I was talking to a representative who was acting as if I was dumb because I did not know the names of all of the parts of my printer. Finally he attempted to fix the problem, but it came back the very next time I printed. I would not recommend this printer nor would I recommend buying from Brother due to their terrible customer service.

This brother laser printer is excellent. It’s not heavy and you can carry anywhere.

I just received this printer this morning, and got it hooked up and working in around 30 minutes. I'm running Linux Mint 17.3 and just like my HL2230 and MFC-J450DW this printer and all its features work fine. Brother in general seems to support the Linux OS on pretty much everything they sell, unlike many other brands. Their support website has all of the necessary install files and instructions. I tested the duplexer, toner saver, and overall print quality, and all work well. Best Buy has a smoking price, and delivery was swift and without issue. I've recommended them and this printer to everyone I know...

Very happy with this purchase. The printer is just perfect for a home office. It is quick and has a small footprint, doesn't take up too much space for a laser printer, would recommend. Only thing that is not included with the printer is the cable to connect to your computer so that would need to purchased separately.

I needed a basic monochrome laser printer and this model seems to meet my needs. Inexpensive. I found the noise generated by the normal speed of 30 pages/minute to be annoying, so I'm using the quiet mode which reduces the noise, halves the speed and nearly halves the power consumption. The dual sided print feature is a nice plus.

This is a basic laser printer which is compact and affordable. Highly recommend for anyone who need a laser printer.

I haven't had to use it a lot yet, but it hooked up easy (especially since reading reviews ahead of time, I knew it didn't come with the cable and bought it when I ordered the printer). Otherwise, it works smooth, quick and quiet. I'm happy with it.

Much better than the Epson 2850 I had. I will never buy an Epson again. I am going to put it in the dumpster. I would be ashamed to sell it or even to give it away

Not being able to use this out of the box (Unexpected..) It came as a surprise and loss of valuable time and it's usability, NO_USB 2.0 A/B Cable - Now must be purchased,$30! = More, Expense & Down Time! After looking at several units - you assume most similarly equipped All I reviewed on this site - were sold with USB cables -- Except I'm finding now BROTHER... And Not Noted At the very least it would be nice to Us, if it were clearly Noted: NO USB Cable Included - Purchase Separately - Link here: _______ In retrospect I should have, read more closely & purchased another brand...as They Do include What's Needed for it's out of box Usage!

Printer was easy to set up and prints quietly. I am pleased in the timely delivery to my home. I would recommend this printer to all individuals.

I purchased this Brother printer on sale an I love the fact that it has auto 2 sided printing an large paper tray. The print quality is very clear I have no regrets on this purchase will recommend to friend.

Have been using this printer for years now. Love the no frills, easy to use concept. No issues

First one that was sent to me had a glitch that the tech guy I talked to on the phone couldn't fix. Replacement they sent works fine. Biggest negative is this printer does not come with a connecting cable (USB 2.0 A to B A Male to B Male) to a PC (there is no wifi capability built in). Biggest positive is B&W toner prints a heck of a lot more pages than a copier/printer that uses up your expensive color cartridges EVEN when you're only trying to print black & white.

I have bought several of these and I love them. Brother is better than the competition in my opinion.
