Works fine, but large power draw

Print quality is acceptable and it's plenty fast, considering the price point. But at the start of the print job, when it has to heat the fuser fast (I think that's the right term - forgive me if it's not...) it draws so much current that the lights dim and the fans in the room slow down. I don't have the manual open at the moment, but I think the specs list a max draw of over 1000W.
