    Purchased this unit for low-volume printing of text, but tried printing a photo in black and white to see what it might be capable of. There were perceptible streaks in that image. Unlike some other reviewers, I haven't had any issues with the unit waking from sleep in response to a print job, nor do I find it to be particularly noisy (located roughly 3 feet away).

    I was tired of my cheap cannon printer always messing up because the the color cartridge dried up. Keep in mind I never print in color. it just never worked right. So I went looking for a printer that prints in black ink only, there are only a few to choose from. I chose this one and I love it !! Best choice ever!

    The summary basically says it - the printer is not expensive, and you can buy aftermarket toner cartridges that are highly rated. But compared to my earlier laser printer, the guy makes a real racket that is quite disturbing. It has a "quiet mode" that tones it down to near where my old printer was, but it also slows it to a crawl and so it is of very limited usefulness.
