    Do Not Purchase this Printer

This printer would not hook up to the WiFi no matter what we did. I wasn't going to pay BB $70 to help with the set up. Therefore, it was returned. However, the person handling the return was delightful and easy to work with. Very pleased.

    Piece of junk

As a lot of other 1-star reviewers have said, it's hit and miss as to when it wants to work. We bought this printer in late 2019 and I finally unplugged it today and will give it to Goodwill. Maybe someone else will have better luck. Since the beginning we had nothing but connectivity issues. And spooler service issues. And sleep mode issues. And even when I hooked up my computer to it with a cable, it still didn't work. We bought it because of all the glowing reviews, but I think some of these printers are just lemons, and we got one. Now I'm wary of buying another printer (especially a wireless one) because I don't want the same problems. If you do buy this, be aware that you might have constant problems with it.

    AVOID the Brother - HL-L2370DW

BEWARE WHEN CONSIDERING BUYING THIS PRINTER!!!! My wife and I paid for two of these "seemingly straightforward" laser printers. We have no complaints about mechanical features (well they are newer printers after all). Enter Brother's frequent "printer software updates' and a nice looking box turns into a nightmare. I'm no computer engineer, but when we pressed do the updates it messed up two brand new PCs and my favorite clunker. It looks like the software updates are poorly designed. Out of the box both printers worked great, then came the message from Brother of needing to update the printer's software and that was the end of that. No more printing, and somehow the PCs got corrupted by the updates. We just wanted to print B&W pages! My cousin who fixes PCs for a living was able to bring back my spanking new 1 TB 64 GB HP" laptop 85-% back to life (and checked that the updates were actually legit). The other two PCs are at the mercy of the Brother half cooked poorly design "software updates" that we installed at Brother's pop-up's insistence. To add insult to injury, I took time off one day about six weeks ago to go to the (Rockville) store and asked for a manager - we have a newborn and time is at a premium. I got a manager all right. I explained to the gent. my conundrum and that needed them to check my PC to see what this destructive printer box was doing to our expensive hardware. The manager listened impatiently and the insinuated that probably my PC already had a problem and that I was just trying to have my PC fixed for free...what a insane thing to say. Think twice when getting this box. JM

Printer doesn't respond to print requests

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm very happy with the print speed and quality, but most of the time this printer simply refuses to print. Driver looks for printer and reports "Printer is not corrected" even though it is connected by a cable (screenshot). Pressing the power button sometimes gets things going. At other times I have to physically unplug and replug the computer to jumpstart the print process. Brother has definitely released a defective product here, since I see many other people have the same problem.

Major frustrating design flaw on setup

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Doing a wireless setup can be really frustrating. We spent about 20 minutes messing with the mini menu because you have to input the password for your wireless network and Brother doesn't explain how to do so. We figured it out, but then another wrinkle: one of the buttons on the printer has to serve for two different functions (this isn't explained either, or how you can transition from one function to the other). I pointed this out to Brother and didn't even get the courtesy of a reply. Would not buy this printer again.

    Parts are too pricey

I bought an HLL2380DW in January 2018. It has worked well for the first 4 years, but when we got new toner, it wouldn't work. The Brother support techs told us we needed a new drum which cost two/thirds what the original price of the printer was! Would not recommend Brother. They charge too much for parts. Incompatible with a common surge protector

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

BUYER BEWARE: We had it plugged into a surge protector and it one day suddenly stopped turning on completely after about two years of very light usage. When we called Brother, the customer service rep said she has had other customers report the same thing-- that the printer would suddenly stop working if plugged into a surge protector-- and that we would need to take it into an authorized dealer to be repaired (I'm guessing for more than the price of the printer) What kind of printer isn't compatible with a surge protector? Had just spent another $90 on new toner too. Will not be buying another Brother printer.

    Setup is impossible

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After wasting 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back trying to install this thing, I returned it. I suspect this unit is set to go into sleep mode every 3 seconds which doesn't allow it to stay connected long enough to install and the installation software looks for the connection before installing drivers. Maybe there was something else wrong, but who knows. Every other wifi device in my home simply connects and works with the SSID and password.

Hello, we apologize you were experiencing a issue with the sleep mode and decided to return the machine. If the machine was in Deep Sleep Mode for a certain length of time, based on your model and settings, the machine will go into Power Off Mode automatically. The machine doesn't go into Power Off Mode when connected to a network. There was a way to set the length of time the machine must be in Deep Sleep Mode before it goes into Auto Power Off Mode(You can select 1hour, 2hours, 4hours, 8hours, or Off). Connection always lost

Never ever buy this particular printer, the connection from printer to your PC(or vice versa) is always a problem or lost. It happened couple of times that all of a sudden you can't print due to so many error message. I re-install the printer driver from brother website and it works for a while and then, it's a connection problem again. I even bought a usb cable for printer just to make sure the problem is not the hardware but never solved the problem. Maybe there's something wrong between their software and the operating system.

This printer conveniently stopped turning on 13 months after purchase (1 month after the warranty expired). Even if it was within warranty, Brother would not have been any help. They are LITERALLY impossible to contact. Do NOT purchase if you want your printer to last longer than a year.
