I bought this to replace my 15 year old Brother b/w laser printer. Quick printing, good print quality and I like being able to save paper printing on both sides for unimportant things. It's a good basic printer. Note that it's much easier to set up the wireless by connecting a usb cable first.

I got this printer after returning a Canon brand one to Amazon. The Canon came with a disk for the drivers and required a computer to set up the WiFi, but I haven’t had a computer with a CD drive for nearly a decade! After dealing with such a frustrating situation (trying and failing to find drivers online, being unable to connect the printer to one of my hotspots, etc.), this printer was a breath of fresh air. It came with a large users manual, but also a simple one-sheet that walked me through setting up the printer - no computer needed! You can find and enter the WiFi password on the printer itself! Granted, the text entry is a little clunky since there’s no keyboard and you use the arrow keys, but it’s worth it to not have to drag out my old laptop again.

It's a printer and it prints which is exactly what I needed. I use it to print shipping labels and it works perfectly for that. No fuss and no extra frills. If you need extra stuff (like wifi, color, etc.) you will need to look elsewhere.

Great printer but not user friendly.

This is a great printer but I don’t think it’s user friendly. I don’t use it very often so I used to unplug it every time I was done using it. So the next time I used it I would have to register the WiFi again. It’s kinda confusing knowing what options to press on the settings screen. It had some options that I didn’t really know about and some codes that corresponded to different types of internet connections. Every time I used it, it would take me like 10 minutes just to figure out how to connect it to my WiFi again. All in all, it needs a more user friendly interface.

    Wifi option not functioning

After using this printer for about 6 months and printing less than 100 pages the entire time I own it, the air print option disappeared, there’s no troubleshooting that helps with this issue.. if you reboot and click on “print” before it goes to sleep mode, you’ll be able to print few pages through wifi, but once it says “sleep” on the screen - no more printing. I recommend paying more and getting something that will last. The tiny screen that it has is a joke. Smaller than a 90s school calculator… get it if your using a usb cable to connect, otherwise stay away.

Am very satisfied with print quality, two-sided copying, and first copy time. Haven't tried paper sizes other than 8.5x11 inches. Only negatives for me are (1) I had a little confusion loading the driver and (2) I can't see the display and indicators from my seated position at the computer.

The laser printer to get under $200

This is a nice printer for the money. I haven't been in the market for a printer in nearly 15 years and was shocked to see that a laser printer could be had for well under $200. The print quality is as good as I remember, and the build quality is ok.

Getting along great with this printer. Wireless is seamless and hasn’t given any issues (yet). I even like the alternate (envelope) slot. I will say that the online ordering process with Best Buy leaves a great deal of room for improvement, however.

Easy to set up. However the printouts had a vertical streak in the left margin. Tried to call Brother's customer support, but was on hold for half an hour. Finally solved the problem via Brother's live chat with a helpful technical rep.

Nice Small Footprint For A Laser Printer

I chose this printer for it's small size, laser quality prints and have not been disappointed. Printing speed and duplex options were what sold me on it. Large paper tray means it does not have to be reloaded as often. Great buy and highly recommended for home or personal use.

This printer works great. This is my second one I purchased. The last one stopped working after about 5 years. We actually use it for our office and print quiet a bit during the day. I would purchase it again.

We replaced an ancient printer with this one because it didn’t play well with iMAC upgrades. This printer was, effectively, plug and play, fit right into the system, very easy install, and networking was a piece of cake. Highly recommend this printer.
