The ability to print legal size is a plus. The color output is very nice. The printer is user friendly and considering the cost of the printer is a good choice. Noted in the instructions; envelopes should be fed manually. I hoped envelopes could be printed from the automatic paper feed but I found they tend to wrinkle.

    Forget your Inkjet

This is our first laser printer and we couldn't be happier with this product. First thing to note is its size. It is quite larger than a regular inkjet printer and its weight is around 40lbs. So make sure that you have a sturdy place for it. It is definitely something for a home office or spare space because of its larger footprint, it isn't as easy to conceal in another area of your home. However, it is way smaller than those you find at your workplace. This isn't a portable printer that you can move around. I've been testing it out for two weeks prior to writing this review and its great. It's super fast and that's what we needed. It's quieter than I expected it to be for its size, but don't expect a whisper. It has a manual feed slot that can be used if the paper tray isn't feasible for your work. It also allows for dbl side printing. So for my use, it saves paper. I use it primarily for our homeschool activities, printing out multiple assignments and planning activities a day. I'm also starting a small business, so the faster printing has helped tremendously. For quick prints, I use AirPrint from my iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and it works great. Also, the ink usage was a huge factor for us. We spend so much on inkjet ink because it runs out so quickly, but this will allow us to use less ink and have more things printed. Do be mindful that the ink toner for these are a bit more on the pricier side upfront, but once you break down costs per use it comes out way cheaper than an inkjet ink cartridge, which are expensive. Because it's color as well as black and white, it comes with 4 toners (3 color and 1 black). Which can be purchased separately, so if you only use black you don't have to purchase the colors and vice versa. This model is printer only, so if you need things such as fax or copy, look elsewhere. It has build in wireless and I didn't have too much trouble setting it up. You can also connect via Ethernet or usb if needed. The screen also comes in handy, but it is super small for thicker fingers. It's only 2.7" but it does the necessities so it doesn't need to be the size of a tablet. You can see ink levels, print from different sources and other helpful information. Also, envelops or thicker paper will not auto feed so you will have to manual feed those. I take tons of photos and I wanted to test out the print quality with this printer, because laser printers aren't known for their photo printing. However, this model produced some really great photo printing. It's not inkjet quality results, but it's darn near close and not visible unless you're using a magnifying glass to look at lines. It was crisp enough for my needs and all prints will be framed. All in all, we will not be returning to inkjet after converting to laser with this model. I hope that it lasts a long time and when the time comes to upgrade we will be coming back to Brother. It's been a great experience with this printer so far.

Excellent Entry Level Color Laser Printer

Whether you are looking for a great home printer or something to fill a need in your small office, the Brother LC3270 is a great option. Out of the box, the LC3270 is certainly a sturdy and well built printer. It. Is. Not. Light! (40lbs+) Do not mistake this for some portable option just because it is wireless. This is could be used as an anchor for the Titanic and is meant to be placed somewhere and left. That's where the wireless function comes into place. But more on that later. After I contracted a crane to get it out of the box and onto my desk, it takes up about the same space as most office-grade laser printers. Lasers have gotten smaller over the years, but it'll still take up a decent amount of real estate on your desk or wherever you decide to place it. Since it is wireless, it would make a great centralized printer to serve multiple people in an office which is a huge cost saver over every person having a local printer that only they can use. Once hoisted out of the box, setup was a breeze using the touch screen interface. I was up and connected to my wireless network in under 5 minutes. From there I could easily and automatically use AirPrint from my iPhone or select it as a printer option from my Dell laptop. Print quality was excellent as you would expect from a laser printer. Colors were crisp and clear. It prints graphs, charts, maps, and other graphics that you could take to any meeting and look professional. Pictures are decent, but this laser printer isn't designed for photos so keep that in mind. That being said, you can still print full page pictures and they look nice. You just won't be framing any of them. As with most color laser printers, they come with a black toner cartridge and 3 color cartridges which can be ordered separately. Having used color laser printers in my day job over the years, I would HIGHLY recommend anyone on a budget to adjust your print settings so that your default print setting isn't color. ESPECIALLY if this printer is shared with a group of people. It's amazing the things people print out in full color that are a complete waste and totally unnecessary. An example would be emails that get printed with things like hyperlinks any logos in your signature in color. It may not seem like much, but a few hundred emails with a logo can drain one or more of your color cartridges and they are not cheap to replace. This isn't specific to the L3270, but just some helpful advice. Just to give you an idea, replacing the color cartridges alone will cost you more than the printer itself. The paper feed has a 250-sheet capacity which is nice and should keep you from having to refill too often. One lacking feature is the manual feed for envelopes and other odd-sized pieces. These have to be fed one at a time which is shame. If you have a business, you are likely wanting to print more than one envelope at a time. In conclusion, I think that the Brother L3270 is an excellent entry level color laser printer. I think it's especially nice if you only have need for occasional (but higher quality) color printing where an inkjet might dry up or not provide the quality that you desire. Pros: *Cost *Build Quality *Print Quality *Wireless functionality *Setup Cons: *Weight *Size *Cost of toner replacement

It’s a little tough to pinpoint if it’s the system entirely, or it’s operator-user fault. When I installed my printer to my NEW WiFi system here at home, it dropped-out out of the network. I had to reboot the printer, then I was able to put it into the WiFi again. It has worked ever since. When I printout in draft mode, I do it so I can save my ink (how stingy, I know). Wow, it really saves it. I can barely see what I print. I compare the printouts to my about 10 year old printer. Huge difference!! Can’t say entirely about how long the toner has or will it last me. I’m curious. Again, my old printer, I’ve printed quite a bit for an average home-user, and still has ink. I buy every other year. Just my “2 cents” on this.

    Quality versitle work horse printer

Let me start by saying this is the second Brother laser printer I have owned. The first being an earlier model Brother model, without WiFi and it was black and white. That thing has been a work horse for me, being that my wife is a college student and she prints a LOT of work for school. So the HL-L3270CDW was just what I needed. I feel I familiar with the quality products made by Brother, and I was excited to get this one. At first glance, it is a large printer which you will realize when you see it at the store. If you are looking for a basic printer where you are not going to use it that often, this may not be the option for you. This falls somewhere between a serious college student, a home office, or even a small business. I would even go as far as saying maybe a house where you have a few high school students that use it a lot. Again, it is a large printer and it will take up a lot of space if you have a desk or more if you have a small desk. I personally chose to give it it’s own area centralized in the house. The set up was easy. It has a 2.7” color touch screen that was very intuitive. Connecting to my home network is just as easy as commenting a laptop. You then do your test print and you are good to go! Aside from being able to print from my computers, I now have the ability to print via my iPhone or iPad. Basically it means it allows for the “AirPrint” capability. I like to use an iPad Pro over a computer because I can do all I need to off of it. This allows connectivity with my device. I think it is compatible with the windows equivalent. It says it has the unique ability to print from the cloud. What that means is you can print documents and photos directly from cloud storage providers like Evernote, Dropbox and Google drive. That is a really great feature that is a huge time saver. I save a lot of items online via a few different cloud providers, so this option is great for my lifestyle. So obviously the most important part of a printer is how it prints right? I have seen laser printers that come out grainy compared to inkjet systems. Let’s be real, inkjet printers are known for the detail and ability to creat almost photo quality prints. Laser printers are not known for that. But to be fair, this provides excellent prints and using the right paper it’s even better. I use a multi-purpose paper, just avoid anything glossy. It will work, just not well. The quality of the print was surprisingly detailed and I didn’t expect it to be so nice. I use one at work (different older model brand) and it is not even close. It’s presentation quality for sure. The color is very bold, from the full spectrum of dark and light colors. Furthermore, it prints much faster than an inkjet and it holds half a ream of paper (250) pages. One thing that I wanted the printer for, was the fact it is so much more economical when you compare it to your average inkjet printers. Inkjet printers are much less expensive, that is why people are so attracted to them. They don’t think of the upkeep involved. The cartridges are cheaper than toner cartridges, but when you compare how many pages it will print per cartridge, laser printers are a no brainer. You can get 1400-3000 pages black and white pages (using either a standard or high yield cartridge). Inkjet printers average around 200-250 pages, just a fraction of the amount this printer will. In conclusion, I love this printer and it meets my family’s needs and then some. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high capacity quality printer for home use or a small business. It’s versatile, fast, and makes quality prints. Consider this as a great option.

I appreciate this no frills color laser printer. Not a MFD, just a printer. Definitely not for printing photos, but anybody looking for that feature at this price point will want an inkjet anyway. Solid chassis. Has handled all the varied paper stock I've tried this far.

I would not recommend the printer for sharp and clear radiant colors. It is slow printing and acceptable for common everyday color and black and white printing. For me it falls short for color photos on glossy paper. But for the cost, I can not expect too much.

I bought this printer to replace an inkjet that I used for printing mainly newsletters and bulletins. The image quality is excellent for these publications. I believe the cost of the supplies will also be better over the inkjet from what I can tell after a month of use.
