Lots of issues
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had nothing but problems with this printer. It works 50% of the time. If I want to print just a text doc, it works. But I cannot print pictures because there is an "insufficient memory error". My husband can only print via the app because printing from Microsoft Office does not work. And every time we print, the lights dim for a second. This printer must use a LOT of power.

Can't remove paperjam
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased oct 2020 and when it worked it was great. Tonight we had a paper jam with waterslide paper. We've printed on this paper multiple times with no issues but the machine got so hot it melted the waterslide paper to itself and cramed the rest of the paper in the roller before stopping. Can't remove paper making the unit a very expensive paperweight.

Office quality at a reasonable price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't expecting much from such an inexpensive printer, but I was really impressed when I pulled it out of the box. The construction and materials are solid, and it looks like a professional piece of office equipment. It was really easy to set up. When you first turn it on, it wants to join your wifi network. It will only see the 2.4ghz band though, which seems common for network things that aren't computers phones or tablets. I plugged it into my ethernet network because it's taking over for an existing printer. This prints. That's all it does. It isn't a multifunction device, it doesn't scan and can't send/receive faxes. I have an awesome scanner so I didn't have to get a compromise device. The print quality is phenomenal for text and casual colored things, but it isn't suitable as a photo printer. There's no 4x6 paper setting and the colors just aren't as sharp and vivid as the best inkjets. It prints pretty quickly and it does duplex printing. Unlike inkjets, your paper doesn't get wet so there's no issue with flipping the page before it's dry. I'm experimenting with the settings; it defaults to fine quality, 2400 dpi. I'm changing the default to normal, 600x600, to see if that prints more quickly. So far so good though. If you want a workhorse printer for home or small office, this is great!

Buy the Hp laser instead if you have a mac
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does well when it works. Does not like Macs. Consistently loses connection. I had always ran HP printers, I bought this as it was on sales making it almost 200 less at the time, wish I would have stuck with my HP. Fix the connection issues for Mac and it would be worth it. Of course it started having problems a week after I couldn’t return

Ink leak & useless feeder
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a useless machine (and yes, I'm saying this out of frustration after trying to print labels from the feeder in the last 30 mins with no avail). Purchased this new about 6 months ago and had a major problem with one of the color cartridges where pages were leaving ink powder on the side margins. I was on the phone with Brother for close to an hour before they confirmed Brother genuine parts and replaced the bad cartridge. Printing is fine now, but I'm now fidgeting with the feeder which is not grabbing the label page (and it's not thick). And when I try printing envelopes, it gets stuck more often than not. I just came off of a all-in-one HP printer which lasted me over 10 years with not a single problem, and was debating if I should go with another HP or this machine, and boy did I choose wrong. Go with the more expensive, reputable printer folks. You will regret getting this one if you ever plan on using your feeder. I'm most likely going to donate this and buy another HP soon.

Steer clear
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was talked into purchasing this printer and it's worthless. I had trouble connecting it to wi-fi and the bluetooth printing was awful. The salesperson told me that the toner would last a long time but that sometimes you'd get a message saying it was low on toner. He said that when that happens, shake the toner cartridge and it would be fine. Well, I barely printed anything on it before it said the black toner was out. I shook the toner cartridge, as indicated, but it still didnt work. After $80 to replace it, the yellow toner went. Another $80 later (and bear in mind, i have printed nothing during all of this) and then the blue and pink toners go out. This printer is garvage and the person who sold it to me only cared about upselling me.

Avoid unless you like constant issues.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is rare that I give something a one star review, but save your money and buy something else. I bought this printer last year and had it for 2 weeks then the toner started smearing all over the page. I followed Brothers instructions cleaning everything and even bough all new toner for each color. I returned the first printer thinking this one was defective. The second printer can't stay connected to Wi-Fi. I am extremely disappointed in Brother after owning a HL-L3170CDW printer for years with absolutely no issues. The responses I see from Brother are generic and do not fix the problem.

It’s great when it works
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very displeased with this printer. When it works, it’s great. However, it often tells me that it can’t connect to the network. I follow the directions for troubleshooting and nothing happens. Magically days later, it’s connected again. This is not a product that you can rely on.

SIGN ME AS "LET DOWN"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I FRAMED MY INTEREST IN PURCHASING THIS ITEM ENTIRELY IN MY DESIRE TO USE ITS 600 DPI CAPACITY TO PRINT HIGH-QUALITY PHOTOS. AFTER A WEEK OF FRUSTRATION AND WASTE OF EXPENSIVE PHOTO PRINTING PAPER WITHOUT GETTING A SINGLE PHOTO-QUALITY RESULT AND ONLY DISINFORMATION FROM A SESSION WITH AN OVERSEAS GEEK SQUAD TECH WHO ASSURED ME ALL WAS WELL AFTER REINSTALLING SOFTWARE AND DRIVERS I'D ALREADY INSTALLED MYSELF EARLIER, I EMAILED BROTHER TOO HELP WITH THE PROBLEM. THEIR RETURN MAIL REVEALED THIS MACHINE WAS NOT DESIGNED TO PRINT PHOTOS AND THEY DID NOT EVEN OFFER A PHOTO-PRINTING PAPER FOR USE WITH IT. I'M DISTURBED THAT BEST BUY'S INTERLOCUTOR WHO SOLD THE ME THE PRINTER HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS THE CASE.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having printing issues with the Brother HLL3270CDW machine. Unfortunately this model is not able to use photo paper to print. This model is a color laser printer that uses a fuser to melt the toner, that heat can melt the paper and cause hardware issues. We recommend you to use the paper that is listed here for best results:

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will Never buy another Brother printer. After only a year and a half I had to throw this printer in the garbage! After only 6 mos. I started having black lines all the way down Both sides of 8.5 x 11 paper on Every page printed. A few mos ago, it started telling me there were toner issues. After a few weeks of that it said there was No toner found. All toners were in and full! Brother used to be good quality. What happened?

Good home/small office printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing this printer I noticed this isn't just some small little printer that will fall apart in a couple years. This thing feels like it weighs about 40-45lbs. We had our older, smaller HP inkjet on a flimsy fold out table used to eat in the living room. Needless to say the Brother needed a beefier table to sit on. Not a small printer by my standards. After taking all the packing tape and ink cartridge guards off I plugged it in and it fired up and asked for my WiFi password. Within a few minutes I was printing from my iphone. There are also options on the color touchscreen where you can print from online doc storage areas like Dropbox, Google Drive and Onenote. There's also a NFC option which I haven't tried yet. The printer will crank out 25 sheets per minute and the tray will hold around 250 letter sized sheets. If you want to run envelopes you have to load them into the bypass tray one at a time. So if envelopes are going to be a big part of your printing operation, you may look elsewhere for a printer that works better for you. I printed out a few color photos on regular 20lb paper and they came out ok. Would probably look better on a heavier stock or a glossy stock. I'll probably try that later. From the looks of the 20lb images I printed, this doesn't seem like a printer that you want to print artwork out with, more of a text and image type printer. I work in the print industry and didn't buy it for that reason but I had to at least test it out. My wife will be using this quite frequently for finishing school. So far it's been very reliable and easy for her to use and perfect for what we needed it for. I'm hoping these starter ink cartridges last a while as they cost anywhere from $60-$80 each. Good printer for a smaller operation, I recommend it if you're looking to step up from a crappy inkjet but don't want to break the bank.

Printer Dead after only 9 months
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer worked great up until 12/5/2020. I purchased it on 03/2020. It no longer powers up after following all the suggested ways at the Brother support web site. In that amount of time I am just barely getting through the original print toner. Buyer beware. Maybe you should take out that extended warranty... I currently have an email out to Brother support for next steps to take.
