Works great, WITH older Mac driver

At first I was frustrated trying to get it to work with my MacBook Pro. It would not print in color and trying to print from inDesign was impossible. Went to the website for a printer driver, but said there wasn’t one for my OS 12.7, that I should use AirPrint or download iprint & Scan from the App Store. No AirPrint and the app had horrible reviews and trust me, not worth trying. I was about to box it up and return it, when I decided to just download the most recent yet older driver for Macs. Hallelujah! It works like a charm now!

    Heavy duty laser printer

This printer is heavy, it’s 40 pounds! So you’ll need a sturdy printing station. The tray has a capacity of 250 papers. It’s connectivity includes Apple AirPrint, brother iprint&scan, ethernet, google cloud print services, NFC,USB,WiFi, and WiFi direct. The printer uses print drums I haven’t looked up the prices on these drums but I’m sure they are more expensive than ink jet cartridges, but these drums look like they take a long time it is stated that each drums last at least 18,000 pages. I always trusted brother printers I’ve never owned one but we use them at work. The set up was a breeze I did not have any problems. The printing is nice, it’s up to 600x2400 dpi color resolution. I’ve printed a couple pages in color and black and white. Very clear. Ink doesn’t smear. I would totally recommend to anyone who is looking for an entry level laser printer this is a nice one

Fast printing, wifi printing needs improved

I have several Brother products including a WF-7520 All in One printer that I use as my primary printer/fax. I was anxious to get this printer because all though my other printer is fast for an inkjet, nothing compares to the speed of a laser and for it to have color as well, I couldn't wait. The printer is very well packaged and included some starter toner cartridges that are good for an estimated 1,000 pages. Which is good because each cartridge runs about $80 each, so that is about $320 if you have to replace them all. In reality, that isn't that bad given the quantity of pages you can print with a cartridge before replacing it. Setup was a bit tedious with this unit. I had to remove each cartridge, then remove the plastic strip from each one and then the paper underneath the area the cartridges were installed. After re-installing the cartridges, I powered on the unit, followed the general setup instructions and then attempted to connect the printer to my wifi. The little LCD screen made it difficult to enter my wifi password and I started to get a bit frustrated with it. The downloaded directions said that I can use a USB cable connected to my laptop and setup the wifi connection. That didn't work for me either. Finally, I was able to correctly enter the password, despite my big hands. I did a few test prints and the printer responded quickly and the prints were fast. I also downloaded the iPrint & Scan app from the app store and was able to print from my mobile devices with no problem. The reason I gave this three stars is because when the printer goes into sleep mode after being inactive for a while, I wasn't able to print anything without going to the printer and pressing the power button to "wake" the device. This is pretty disappointing and is kind of a big deal to me. It would be fine if when I went and powered on then the documents I printed would begin printing, but that wasn't the case. I also wish there was an email address assigned to the printer so if I wanted to print something while I'm away from home, I can simply email the document and it would print. I have several other printers and I honestly thought this was a standard feature for a wifi enabled printer. If Brother fixed these two issues, it would have five stars hands down from me, but until then, three is the best I can give for this printer. If you want a fast color laser printer and don't care about printing while away from home and it doesn't bother you turn on the printer prior to each print, then this printer might work for you. If the items I just mentioned are important, then I would look elsewhere.

Had this printer for 4 years with no issue. I'll never go back to ink printer. Yes the laser ink is more pricey but it lasts forever and is always ready.

Good machine with good print quality. The setup is not as user friendly. The printer has a default password that made it hard to upgrade the firmware. Tech support was not helpful. Make sure to put a : before your password to get it to work. Does not say it in the directions. Had to figure out out from a web search.

Far better quality, really professional looking, compared to inkjets. Toner replacement cost a bit pricey. It'll be a question of how long it lasts without problems.

Misleading Title - This is NOT a Laser Printer

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Although Best Buy refers to this as a "Color Laser Printer," this is not a laser printer at all. It's good for many purposes and you may be perfectly happy with the output, but if you are after a laser printer, be advised that: (1) this isn't one, and (2) Best Buy's product descriptions are not accurate.

    Too many paper jams

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Paper jams in various locations about 1 out of 5 print jobs. We have an older Brother all-in-one printer that has not jammed a single printing job in the five years we've owned it. I don't know what's up with this one. We're using name-brand paper, 20lb., same as we use in the other Brother. Our typcial printing jobs tend to be about 4 or 5 single-sided pages, nothing fancy. The printing quality and function is very good WHEN IT DOESN'T JAM. The jamming rate is unacceptable. Since I don't see similar complaints in other reviews, I wonder if we just got a a defective one. I'll be looking in to returning it. We've had it about six weeks.

Hi, paper jams can be frustrating. Most paper jams are caused if the wrong paper type is being used or if the paper is inserted in the tray incorrectly. Below is a FAQ that can assist you.

    Quality Control Issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this printer from Best Buy in November of 2020. First let me say that Best Buy shipped the product promptly and delivered it in great condition. After first setting up the printer, it printed extremely well and I was looking forward to using it for many years. After two months, however, the black toner seems to have leaked from the cartridge supplied by the manufacturer and every page now comes out with a gray sheen over the whole page and black dots occurring in a regular pattern all over the page. There is no way I should have to clean out toner from a brand new printer and purchase a new black cartridge. Cleaning out toner is a difficult and thankless task. Despite my early enthusiasm for this printer, I have become very disappointed.

Great until it jams on every duplex job

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Had this for 7 months relatively painfree, until I had to move it from one room to another, and ever since, the printer jams on any duplex job. No trauma to the printer, it just got moved from one place to another, and now the paper jams when printing the second side. Kudos to Brother Support tho, they're sending me a refurb under warranty. Seems like a simple sensor problem, but I'm not a printer tech so what do I know. Fragile to say the least...
