Good Choice for First Digital Printer

I’ve been working in offices for many years now and have used many types of digital printers. I have always wanted one of my own, but up until recently, the price was prohibitive for even just a black & white printer, never mind color. Now, Brother has an affordable color digital printer for the masses. I am overjoyed. The first thing I noticed about the Brother HL-L3290CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is that it is a behemoth. You will need a helper getting the printer into place, unless you are super strong yourself. I could not install it where my inkjet printer now resides. The glass shelf did not have support on the main part of the shelf (just the sides) so I thought the Brother might be too much for it. I was able to get the printer on a metal pedestal file. It just fits. The design is utilitarian. It looks like it could have come from a 90s era office as much as an office in 2019. The large size is needed to accommodate the ink cartridges. This shouldn’t be surprising to me, but it was, as I thought that technology would have improved to the point of having smaller printers/cartridges. I had to read the instructions on how to set it up on my Wi-fi. I had tried just pressing the “Wi-fi” button on the file, figuring that would start the set-up process, but not so much. You must navigate through the menu. Then, to type in your passcode for the router, you need to use the arrow keys. There wasn’t a way to simply type the passcode in. I was disappointed in that. It also comes with a CD – A CD! – for the drivers. How archaic is that? My laptops (home and work) don’t have CD-ROMs or DVD drives. I didn’t end up downloading the drivers. My computers automatically worked with the printer, so I didn’t feel any more was needed. I think this is a good choice if you are in the market for your first digital printer. It doesn't really bring anything new to the table, as far as I can see, but it seems like it will be a good workhorse.

I am sure this is a great printer but as soon as I put new toner it would not print correctly and never could get it fixed. Waste money for toner and printer!

I have been a fan of Brother for a while and this printer was what I was expecting for quality and ease of use. The setup was easy to follow and once it was up and running we had no issues to date. The printer is large but it seems like it could replace an office all in one copier. The prints are very sharp and the wifi works well. This isn't a small footprint or light printer but if you are looking for a robust printer this is it.

The Brother - HL-L3290CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is the perfect blend of home office size with the power and features of a full-sized Copier/Printer. Brother has become a top contender in the printer market and this HL-L3290CDW is just another example of why. I was impressed with the performance of this unit right out of the box. The colors and monochrome prints were precise and truly representative of the onscreen view. Fast prints in both B/W and Color, Blazing fast Wireless printing, and quick all-in-one features. This unit also beats many competitors by adding a 250 sheet tray compared to the standard 150 sheet trays. This is highly useful as I have my printer set up in another room and use wireless 99% of the time. Not having to go check the paper supply regularly is a bonus. PROS - Brother quality and performance - Fast outputs - Larger paper tray - Option for multiple paper types and thicknesses and manages without paper jams. - Decent toner life helps reduce the costs of daily printing - Intuitive toner saturation helps reduce waste and costly replacements - Wifi is quick and easy to setup - All-In-One is truly all-in-one with this product CONS - Long-term toner replacement costs since this unit can replace a full-sized printer/copier

The Brother - HL-L3290CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is very compact and packed with powerful features for print, scan and copy. Setup was very easy and it came with Brother HL-L3290CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer, CD-ROM includes printer drivers, DR223CL drum unit set (approx. 18,000 pgs) and Quick set-up guide. I have connected with my desktop using the USB cable provided for the initial setup and downloaded the latest software from the brother site. I have followed the instructions to configure the printer to print over the wireless. After the software installation and configuring the printer, I was able to see this printer on a home network to print from any device. It is very convenient to print from other devices and my son is using this printer every day for his school work and printing from his laptop. It has a 1.92" high-resolution monochrome LCD screen to print, store files and business apps directly from your printer. This printer can print up to 25 ppm in black and color. It can handle large volumes quickly at a low cost per page. Toner is using powder instead of ink to get smudge-free images and text. It has featured with Apple Airprint enabled to print from iPad and iPhone or with free Brother iPrint&Scan app. This printer works with Brother TN223 and TN227 toners. The Starter Black/Cyan/Yellow/Magenta toner cartridges yield up to 1,000 pages and the DR223CL drum unit set can yield approx. 18,000 pages. The resolution of printing is superior quality and it can print up to 600 x 2400 dpi (dots per inch) color resolution. The paper tray can hold up to 250 sheets input capacity and 150 sheet output bin. Four individual print cartridges are economical and easy to replace toner cartridges (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) when a color runs out. The design is very good with stylus looking. I have been using InkJet printers and cheap laser printers before and Brother - HL-L3290CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is huge upgrade. This printer does not have an automatic document feeder which is a really important feature to scan multiple documents quickly. I am using this every day for copy, print, and scan for my personal and office work. It is one of the best printers in the market with excellent configuration. I highly recommend this printer for home and office use and now I am a big fan of Brother products.

    Great affordable laser printer

This laser printer does it all and its very affordable. The features include: - Black and white printing - Color Printing - Black and white or color copying without PC - Scanning to PC - Wireless printing from PC or Phone - Front and Back printing This printer is fast with quality color and sharp black and white printing. I think its best on mixed pages with pictures and text. Full color pages, like pictures, are just o.k. but lets face it, you aren't buying a laser printer to print pictures. The screen is not touchscreen but the buttons are self explanatory for the black and white LCD screen. I haven't had the printer long so not sure how fast it goes through toner, but the Brother program shows how much toner is left of each color. If you are in the market for a laser printer, this affordable one will not disappoint.

Excellent for a Small Office or Home Office

This Brother printer will work great for a small or home office for all of your scanning, copying, and printing needs. It has Wifi and wired networking capabilities, and once connected, devices on your network can print to it easily and effortlessly. On my Win10 and Apple iOS devices, I could print to this printer without installing any devices or doing any specific driver installs. The iOS devices picked it up immediately and once I set it to default with network discovery on Win10, I didn't need to install any specific drivers or packages either. To get full functionality the software package is recommended. It doesn't have as robust or touchscreen display as some competitors but for most who just want a rock solid printer, this won't be an issue. If anything these features are just another point of failure. Print cartridges are large and more expensive than smaller printers, but they should also last longer as well. Overall excellent printer for the price for those who do a decent amount of printing.

In my experience, Brother makes great printers. The cost of ownership is less than any other brand, and they are easy to navigate. This model lacks a touch screen--which I see as one less thing to break. The menus are intuitive, the setup is as simple as following steps and punching a big green button. The 250 sheet paper tray is awesome for a small or home business. I have printed about 100 sheets so far through various print jobs, and have not encountered any trouble or jams yet. We print over WiFi and through the phone app. Printing is quiet too! The flatbed scanner/copier does not feel as flimsy as some I have used on other brands. It feels sturdy and heavy enough to qualify as a "real" scanner/copier, and it has features you'd expect form those separate devices. The autofeed works great and saves time. This one is a winner for my home office!
