Install complex not fast. Printing speed slow. It showed eventually that I needed laser printer. Life is too short, to compromise with not the best quality and fast printing.

Normally, I don't give any product 5 stars because there always seems to be something that can be improved on or an issue I had with the product. However, this product really is worth 5 stars. It was easy to setup and it just works. It is exceptionally easy to print from my MacBook or my iPhone. There is no software to download for a Mac or iPhone. Instead, you just use AirPrint. I don't print a bunch of stuff each week or month so I expect the ink will last for a long time. The instructions were really easy to follow and it took me maybe ten minutes to get everything set up. I definitely recommend this product.

The whole premise of this new system is the ink. Inside the box you get cartridges that estimate up to two years worth of usage. Instead of the messy ink cartridges you get tanks full of ink that go into a small bay and easily snap into place. Opening the printer out of the box was fairly easy. It seemed a little heavy but I overcome it easy. Looks solid, color integrates with the colors in the living room. Setup was a breeze too although there is something that might throw off users. If you don't read the manual you may think to yourself, where is the USB port? Where is the phone jack for the fax? It's inside the printer itself and you have to loop the cord to the outside. You very well may just be pulling your hair out over that one. Don't like the design, but then again I don't like the cords so we'll say it's for those that really need it. The wireless setup was very easy though and I connected it to my Wifi Network. Within minutes I easily added the printer to all of the computers in our house and it does not require extra configuration. If you are looking to scan wireless from the network without a cord, you may want to consider getting Brothers printer app from the Windows 10 store. It really does help with the scanning. Once in awhile the printer won't be detected over the network even though it's supposedly connected. I suspect this is a sleep mode issue rather than waking the printer up from its slumber mode problem? Not really an issue it's just there. This is a very solid unit that deserves as look not only to fit into your everyday life but also other activities down the road.

The big selling point on this printer for me is the massive amounts of ink you get initially in the box. If you're like me and dislike having to buy ink all the time or have to sign up for a ink monthly pass, this is a good printer. You get a large supply of ink and that means less expense on having to buy refills of ink. The printer has a small/medium sized footprint in order to keep on my little table nearby my computer desk. The printer looks nice and visually appealing. It makes a nice addition to my home office setup and it keeps up with my basic needs. I will say this printer has a good output of black ink printouts and okay output on color printouts. I feel this printer lacks a bit in delivery of the output. It's a bit slow for my taste and doesn't kick out a printout when needed. Between the load time and slow output it can seem like a long wait. I've utilized HP printers before this which seem to spool up and distribute my page out fairly quickly. Overall I like this printer and it's capabilities. The wifi printing is helpful and the most convenient feature for me so I don't have to hardwire the printer to the laptop. Being able to print from my phone via wifi printing is super handy and used all the time in our household.

Brother has been doing great things for home and small business users in the printer market. This printer is no exception. Overall, I would recommend buying this printer and am happy with it's performance, flexible functionality, and print quality. However, I do think this is for a niche buyer and is probably not for everyone. Set-up is simple and once the printer is on the network, you really have nothing else to do. I can print from my computer, phone, tablet, etc with ease and speed. The printer comes with a good amount of ink to start you up with and probably contributes to the higher price. It has fax which is so useless to many and absolutely priceless to others. I personally don't fax very often anymore, but when the need arises, I'm happy I can do it quickly at home. The print quality is good for my use. I'm not making flyers or brochures but for documents, study materials, prints with charts and tables, and even pictures- I am very satisfied. Auto-duplex is a must and it works flawlessly. Great paper-saver. Wireless scanning was excellent, but takes a little setting up to do and can be a little slow with my Mac. I've always had this issue with numerous printers. Pros: Easy set-up Endless features like fax, mobile print, auto-duplex Long Ink life* Includes good amount of ink Fast printing Wireless everything including scanning It really only took me 20minutes to get everything up and running. It's a smooth process. Setting it up on the network it best so you don't have to ever be near the printer and everyone can easily access it. Print speed is good, nowhere near laser printer fast of course. It gets the job done and the auto-duplex, which is a must for me, runs great. Brother has really got that down. All my prints came out good quality and even printing on photo paper came out nice. This printer really offers a ton of flexibility and works smoothly. Wireless scanning worked well, although slightly slow. Takes a little time to get everything right, but overall no issues there. The flexibility of printing is nice. You can also send faxes, which worked great and will be nice to have for the rare occasions. Brother includes 1 year worth of ink and if it really does last that long I'll be content but it's way too early to tell. The extended ink tank was a primary reason I wanted this printer but it's a bit of a catch-22. You're really just buying bigger cartridges that fill a reservoir tank. So it's kind of like buying bulk ink. I think there's a bit of deceit in what it seems this printer can do. The printer is excellent and I would recommend it for those who aren't interested in laser or want to save $$. Cons: Ink cost Printer cost Printer and Ink cost really drop the rating down. I do believe this may be too high of a price since you can find budget or used laser printers for roughly around the same price or not terribly more. The idea that you're getting more print out of this inkjet compared to another hides the fact that it is only because this device holds more quantity. A high capacity black costs roughly $55. I would encourage buyers to make sure they explore all options. However, this is an excellent printer and Brother has done great again. Maybe after longer use I may push this up to 5 stars, but with the associated costs I don't think its a true 5 star printer.

This printer was quick and easy to set up. Easy to follow on-screen directions walked you through all the steps to get connected to your home network. I used the built in Wi-Fi option. And was able to print on the first try from my Macbooks,PC and mobile devices. One of the features that I especially like is the document feeder for scanning multiple pages at once. The printer also has some built in apps. So I linked up my google drive and was printing from the cloud with ease. It is also rather compact for all the features it has. There were some small things keeping this printer from getting that last star. I found the printer to be rather slow. And I wish the touchscreen display was a little bit bigger. But if this ink last even half the time it advertises (2 years @ 300 pages a month) I will be tickled to death. All in all this is a great all in one printer. And I would recommend it for home and small business use.

I really do love this printer. I had my HP printer for years and I thought if I ever decided to upgrade that I would stay with HP, it didn't end up working that way and I'm glad it didn't. I've printed photos and black and white documents and color documents and it prints pretty darn great. The color photos I printed on paper and photo paper came out so good. The set up was very easy and I didn't have any problems when I connected to the wifi. It was very easy to air print from my phone and from my ipad. I love how there is a micro SD card slot and usb slot so can connect directly to the printer and your pictures pop up on the printer screen and you can choose which pictures you want to print and print from there and you don't have to connect through your computer. It makes printing so simple that way. The long lasting cartridge, is a huge bonus. So far I am really liking my new printer and I would def recommend it.

This printer is excellent for business use as the ink storage is seemingly endless. The setup was easy, printer program was easily installed and wireless connection was a snap. The printer works really well with BW documents and was less than impressed with the color print quality as the colors seems a bit lighter than the document quality online. I Increased the DPI to Fine nd still the quality was a bit washed out. That is the only thing I see as less than 5 star for this review. Pros: Price, Ink capacity, paper storage, ease of use, and functionality. Cons: Color print quality could be better in my opinion. Its possible this machine just needs to be properly broken in and then quality could increase. If that's the case I will revisit this review. I would recommend this for business use.

Bought this over a year ago and the printer continually prints with white lines in it. I have gone through all the cleaning and alignment settings and have only used Brother ink and it still has issues. I am not sure if it has to do with the printer trying to save ink but I would not recommend buying this printer.

After having a printer that I could not count on, the Brother is wonderful! It's fast, dependable, and we love the out-front touch screen. The paper loading tray is so accessable and easy to use and the ink packet is so easy to replace and does not need replacing very often and I do a lot of printing. Probably the best purchase I've made in the last few years!

This really is a full function printer that will fill the needs of any home or small office. The inclusion of an estimated two years of ink is a great idea. With what ink usually costs, this alone makes this printer worth it. Performance is exceptional. I have owned all of the top brand names in printers and the Brother printers continue to impress. More than fast enough for our home needs with more features than we could ever use. Print quality is great! Although this printer is still new to me, I have found that Brother printers always seem to be easy on ink compared to other brands and so far I think this one will be the same. Although, with two years of ink I don't think there is much to worry about :-) I like that the printer is white. Not typical for Brother. It is a bit on the large side but you need to keep in mind that it is a high capacity printer not just in terms of the ink, but also the paper. Although I think using a fax machine has largely been replaced by email, it is nice to have the feature included just in case. More of a business feature than a home one I guess. Scanning and copying work nicely as well. Honestly, I probably scan more than I print so this is a plus for me. More importantly is wireless connectivity. I imagine more people print from wireless devices and the cloud more than anything else these days. So far, I am impressed. For some reason I have always had issues with printing wireless with other printers but I had no issues with getting this one to work. Also, the 2.7 inch touch screen is easy to read and navigate. When you factor in the features, the amount of ink and the quality, this really is a great printer. If nothing else just look at it as you are pre-buying the ink you would have needed to purchase anyways with another printer. And with as high as ink prices can be, I think you come out way ahead with the Brother MFC-J995DW XL.

I'm coming from a Canon all in one printer that left some room for improvement. Set up was extremely easy and the ink was a snap getting them into the front loading slot. Which by the way, is good all printers should be. Also the paper is nicely hidden away from site, making the printer look cleaner overall. Wireless printing also worked fine for me. The big draw was actually the size of ink. Box states 2 years worth, which sounds great. Got it primarily for daughter in middle School for reports and such but should accommodate the entire house hold.
