Brother printer

I would recommend this to a friendNice cheap printer, but wastes ink.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This printer is ok for a small office/home, easy to set up, nice sharp prints and scans, great color scans, and prints quicker than both my old and new canon printers. That being said once the ink gets low there is an error code you cannot print past until you replace the ink. On my other printers I am able to keep printing until there is an actual loss of ink quality, but with this one it's just a sensor that thinks ink is low. Very frustrating and will lead to too much ink wasted. It seems other Brother printers have a setting where you can continue printing, but not this one. Returning for another Canon.

Please be advised. The Brother MFCJ1010DW is designed to stop ALL printing operations when any of the ink cartridges have reached their end-of-life. This is to ensure the life of the printhead and to maintain premium print quality. Some ink from all the ink cartridges is used in periodic cleaning cycles. This helps to prevent issues such as printhead clogs and poor print quality. There is no way to bypass this feature.
If one or more color ink cartridges are low but not at the end of their usable life and you want to minimize the use of color ink, change the settings in the Brother software to print with black ink only (grayscale). If you print with black ink only, the other ink cartridges must have ink for the printer to print. When an ink cartridge is depleted, you must replace it before you can print.
If you print with black ink only, the printer may still use small amounts of ink from all the ink cartridges for occasional servicing tasks. Brother recommends that you replace any low ink cartridges to avoid any interruptions in printing.

The price was reasonble. Delivery was good. The other printer works, but like I said it stopped talking to the computer. :(

You don't have to pay too much for inks which costs a fortune in some other brands. One of the cool feature I'd say it auto cleans the printer head itself regularly when it's not being used for a certain period of time. I'd recommend this printer.
