Printer was easy to set up. Convenient to have wireless print capability. Like having separate cartridges for colors. Great price for all the capabilities. Somewhat slow printing but not a big issue. I use it for printing from a MacBook and Windows 7 PC.

Picked this up for $59 in a black friday sale, but they run it at that price quite often. This is the fourth time I have purchased this printer in the last few years. I first bought one for my son, and it was so easy to set up and did great on ink that I ended up buying one for my wife, my mother and most recently my brother. They are all still going strong and replacement ink is pretty reasonable as well.

Purchased this product with the mindset that it is a cheap low end printer. I was wrong. The print quality is amazing for the price and in my opinion it's one of the better home office printers on the market. Easy setup to my Mac, small foot print on the desk and best of all its wireless.

I bought one and my son bought one. Very easy to use and setup even better than the HP I had. Ink is cheaper and print quality is better. I really love the wireless part where I have found that it is easier to connect all my wireless devices to and print from.

Easy to set up, compact and inexpensive. Hopefully it works out because the ink is not expensive as others.

For the price, this is a really great printer. We use it almost daily and have had no issues. It was very easy to set up and we can now print and scan wirelessly. The ink prices are reasonable and I like that you are able to replace only the color that is low, rather than buying a tri-color cartridge when only one color is low.

I bought this printer on sale for about $60.00 but even at the regular price (which I think is $80.00) it is a great product full of many features such as cloud printing, scanning to the cloud, wireless printing and scanning and more. I also like that the paper is stored inside out of sight. I had an Epson printer before where the paper would be sticking out from the back which looked awful and was difficult to load. The software for the printer is good and doesn't seem to take a lot of storage on your computer as an HP printer I used to have. I have a MAC computer, when I try to scan only part of a page the program crashes. It has had this issue for a long time and neither Brother nor Apple have addressed this problem. To get past it I have to scan the entire 8.5 x 11 area of the page, instead of using the pre-scan feature and selecting only the area I need. I have another dedicated scanner so I use that one when I want to scan something where I need to select a small area. I still like this printer very much and bought another one for some friends. I just wish either Brother or Apple solved the crashing problem.

    Best Inkjet Printer I've owned

I've been reading solid reviews on Brother printers for the past 4-5 years and have been afraid to pull the trigger. After needing to replace ink in a Canon MP495 (basic, no duplex, no ADF, but great on ink) I decided to buy a printer opposed to ink cartridges. Caught it on sale for $49 and it's one of the best purchase decisions I've made all year. I love the small footprint. Setup was very easy, no problems connecting to wifi or installing drivers from the internet. The app is well thought out and intuitive. Printer is quiet and print quality is great. Only knock is that it's not the fastest and there is no NFC. The wifi works perfectly and not sure I'll ever miss the lack of NFC. The speed is OK given the limited printing I do. The J485 appears to be the Brother entry level model Best Buy carries. Comparing several models higher up in the range, the only difference appears to be full touch screen and faster print speeds. For my limited print needs (mailing labels, less than 10 pages a week) this feels like the steal of the century one week in. Lately I've been scanning more than printing. The scan from phone controls are outstanding. Beats plugging a USB in and realizing I forgot to remove it after I've left the house. Regular price is $99 but it looks like it's regularly on sale for $60 or less. Don't waste extra money on higher prices printers if you're looking for a basic Inkjet, this Brother is a solid bet.

I love the wireless function with double side print capabilities. Ink that comes with it last a long time. Printing pictures on gloss paper looks professional. Fax works great. Although I don't see any differences, printer completed 2 firmware updates. For the price, awesome all-in-1 printer.

I was kind of skeptical to purchase this printer because of the mix reviews that I read across various forums. However, I decided to take a chance and see for myself its strengths and weaknesses as noted below: Strengths: Setup was surprisingly easy! Firstly, I inserted paper into the machine and then turned it own which the machine prompted me to insert the various printer cartridges. I ran a print test which was very successful. Thereafter, the machine prompted me to input general information such a date, time, year etc. Afterwards the machine quickly found and connected to my Wifi. The machine prints very rich tones that really compete with laser. I was shocked that ink jet cartridges had improved so signficantly. Connections-I have about 16 devices including smart phones all of which connected and printed amazingly well without any hiccups. The scanner integrated with my main PC without any hiccups. The scans are clear and transparent. Copying-I copied a document and the produced copy was clear and transparent as well. Weaknesses: The only true weakness that I see early about the machine is the time it takes to print is rather slow. This weakness is not necessarily a biggie for me because I have another Brother printer, DCPL-2540DW which is my primary printer in addition to model HL-L2320D. I am partial to laser because of the longevity of toner versus ink jet. My main reason for purchasing the MFC-J485DW was for its faxing capabilities and the fact that I got such a great deal on pricing. I picked this up on Best Buy's Deal of the Day for $39.99 and an additional discount of $5 (earned certificate from BB). So, overall I paid $38 and some change including taxes. Suffice to say, it was a deal to good to pass on! Overall, strengths definitely outweigh weaknesses as a result, I highly recommend the purchase of this product if you're looking for a good reliable printer at an economical price. Brother, definitely is on consumers' side!

Printer setup was easy. Printer is quiet, easy to use. Output is good quality. Scanner works well. I like the fact you can buy each color of ink separately. Only problem I've run into so far is having a hard time finding stores that carry the ink cartridges (besides Best Buy).

This is a great printer for every day home use. It was easy to set up and I love the wireless which works great from my Iphone or PC. Also, the ink cost is a lot cheaper than what I used to pay for cartridges for my HP all-in-one.

Purchased on sale for $40, double sided printing, and I have printed directly from my phone to this printer. Smaller size good for less space. 4 individual ink cartridges. I am happy with this purchase. Thanks Best Buy.

When shopping for a new printer, I discovered that my options were very limited since I wanted a retro style All-in-One type printer that primarily has buttons, rather than only touch screens. Most printers for sale these days are touch screen only types. I decided on this printer after visiting many stores and reading reviews online. This make and model had many positive reviews which helped me to decide to get this one. This printer is very quiet when operating. It does not take a long time to wake it up when printing the first page of the day. The print quality is better than I expected from an inkjet printer. It was easy to set up and I like the wireless connection to my laptop computer. It is fast enough for my needs which is just a few pages at a time, not volume printing. I have used it only for printing from the laptop and for making copies. I have not yet had the need to scan anything so I cannot report on that function. Since I don't have a landline telephone anymore, I cannot put the fax function to use. The paper is easy to load, and I have not had any paper jams so far after several weeks of use. The unit has a sturdy feel to it even though it seems smaller than some of the competing models. I like the fact that it does not take up much room on the table. I like the simple no frills functional design and the non-glossy exterior. Another good feature to mention is that the color cartridges are available as single colors so you only replace the one that runs out, while you continue to use up the other colors. I am very satisfied with this purchase and I feel like it is worth more than what I paid for it (list price was $99.99 but it was on sale for $59.99 the week that I was shopping for a printer).

Low Price, easy set up, has worked great. Print quality is very good. Scans quickly and easily. Has a strong wireless connectivity. I would give it 5 stars except it was not in stock at time of purchase and I had to wait for it to ship. Item was advertised on Sunday and not in stock at any of the area stores on Monday. Do not put items on sale that are insufficiently stocked.

I've owned a lot of printers in my lifetime. This is by far the best for a home use printer. Brother is so much better than HP. I've always had problems with HP, so I went out on a limb and bought a Brother. And I love it. The HP kept dropping my wifi network. This one does not have a problem. This printer allows me to print from my iPhone, iPad and wireless from my pc. The scanning is so easy, the copying is fabulous for a family. You can scan it from your computer or from the machine. You can scan to a file or send it directly to email too. I love the duplex printing, to save money on paper. This is the printer for every family especially with school work and other household paperwork. I highly recommend this printer. Ditch the HP printers and give Brother a chance, and you will not regret it. FYI - I got it on sale, I think around $79. I can't remember the exact price. But I did notice the price went up $20 the next day.

Happy with the print quality, set up was a breeze, download current software from the Brother website. It's a little noisier than my old Canon. LCD status screen is nice. Small foot print is a winner! We'll see how it is on ink. I do like this unis has separate cartridges for each color. I burn through of black ink. Handles envelopes without issue. Wifi is flawless.
