I love my brother printer! It fit perfectly on my file cabinet. The black replacement ink was only $14.00. It is fast & the prints are just like the original. Also it's wireless & I can print from my phone. I'm extremely happy with this product and would recommend it for anyone for a great home use!!!

I owned a Brother MFC-J435W before this, purchased in 2011 (probably also from BB). It performed well, but was always finicky about black ink - it required OEM black, but the color inks could be generic. The last time I replaced the black ink, the 435 would not recognize 3 different OEM carts. I decided to cut bait and get a new printer. This 485 seemed like the newer version of the 435, and it was on sale, so I went for it. I've been very happy with it so far. Print quality is markedly better than the 435. The tilting control panel is a nice touch. Software updates for all our devices were easy. It remains to be seen how it does with non-OEM ink. The paper tray is more difficult to manipulate than the 435, and wi-fi setup did not work according to instructions, so I had to fiddle with it until it worked. This is the reason for deducting one star.

Works great and so easy to use. Like the wireless option. Replacement cartridges very reasonably priced too!

This printer is very easy to set up and use. Print quality is good, although a tad slow. The wireless connectivity of this printer always works, whether I'm printing something from my computer or phone. This is something that never seemed to work correctly with other brand printers.

This is perfect for our needs. It scans, copies & prints. It's quick and easy to use. It was very affordable.

This printer has very good color and very good. It was easy to set up and install to my computer. I love that it wirelessly prints from my devices. Has good quality image. This is also not very bulky and does not take much space in my desk.

Being the opposite of a techie, I was pretty surprised that with careful reading of the instructions (which were written in real English and not computerese) and following the steps, I got this printer all connected to my laptop and wifi, copying and functioning in every way that I wanted it to function. Brrother was recommended to me by someone who actually knows about these things and told me how dependable and long lasting the brand is. As my last printer died about a week after the warranty expired (should have expected that, huh?) even though I don't use a printer that often, I took her advice and got the Brother. It's pretty slow at printing from the net, but I don;t mind. I still find it amazing that I didn't have to call the help-line!

This is a nice, easy to use printer. It meets my needs for an inexpensive printer for relatively low volume printing at this time. It has actually handled some larger printing jobs without a hiccup. It's controls are easy to use. Everything is accessible with little effort. Color printing is good. Happy with this purchase. Saw in store deal that was unbeatable.

Printer is inexpensive for what it is, fairly easy to set up, and operates basically as you'd expect. It is very slow to print, however, so expect some downtime while you wait for the project to finish. You have to install proprietary software to print which I do not care for, it could be easier to plug and play, not interested in all the other nonsense. Same if printing from a phone, you have to install the Brother app for printing. Jobs are very slow to load on my phone (even running off my wireless network, which is very good: 16mb/s down, 2.5mb/s up). It is wireless and it's front panel is fairly easy to navigate, so if you're not a printer guru you'll enjoy the simplicity compared to some other products. Main complaints: Comes with half cartridges and the things cost a fair bit to refill. Does NOT come with a usb to whateverthehell kind of mate cable. For some people who want to run this entirely off WLAN that's fine, but the least you can do when you sell something is include the cables that plug it into a computer. And the guy selling you this thing will probably never tell you you'll need an additional piece to operate from hardline so have fun with your unnecessary trip to get one. Do people a favor, add 5 dollars to the tag and include the cable.

I bought this because my old all-in-one was using too much, expensive ink. The ink for this printer is very reasonable. The wifi set-up was very easy but the wireless scanner set-up didn't go as well (for me). The printer is slow, but time is not a factor for most of my home needs. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the purchase.
