I have become increasing frustrated with ink jet printers over the last few years due to terrible build quality and/or software and of course the cost of the ink. It seemed I was constantly re-installing the software as the printer would not activate after going “off line”, or wasting ink needing to “clean” the heads as they had dried since last printing. As such I had been considering a color laser printer for a couple of years and jumped at the chance to review this one. This printer checked all of the boxes I was looking for; Grayscale printing - (2400 dpi (fine) – 600 x 600 dpi (normal) Color Printing – (2400 dpi (fine), 600 x 600 dpi (normal) Automated duplex printing Scanner – 19200 x 19200 dpi interpolated 1200 x 2400 dpi (scanner glass) 600 x 600 dpi (from adf) Copier – 600x 600 dpi Fax – I didn’t use this function 2 trays (tray 1 (for everyday printing, normally 8 x 11 paper) and MP (multi purpose – 4 x 6 photo, other page sizes, etc.)) Wireless/ethernet/usb connections. Be advised it does NOT include a USB cable though. Given its speed, options and not having to deal with the frustrations of an inkjet I feel this unit is well worth the cost for personal home use and certainly excellent for home businesses. In the box are; Instructions (basic) Power cord about 5 feet. It has NO cumbersome brick, but is not low profile where it plugs into printer (not 90 degree). 4 toner cartridges (black, cyan, magenta and yellow Telephone line cord Total dimensions 16.1” width, 16.3” height, 20” depth and weight of about 53 lbs. As such I wasn’t able to use in same space as prior inkjet printer. You really need to be able to easily access the back of the printer so I wound up getting a metal shelving unit with wheels from home depot to place it on. Positives; I would suggest going to Brothers website and downloading 675 page documentation as there is a LOT this printer can do and has many adjustments which in no way is touched upon in provided basic documentation. Was easily unpacked but at 50 lbs I wound up cutting open the side of the box and sliding out. Once out of the box I used the “handle” indentations at bottom of each side for better grip. Couldn’t have been easier to setup. Once I got all of the printer packing tape off and the cartridges seated properly. I initially setup using hard wired ethernet connection but wound up using wireless so I could move printer around if need be. In both cases the DVD installation software found the printer, updated itself to latest version and was ready to go within 5 minutes. I also set up 2 other windows 10 computers and both were done in just a few minutes. Has a pretty large color touchscreen. You can do a lot of adjustments using this and it is pretty intuitive but I found it a tad touchy when trying to scroll. Luckily there are up/down/side arrows which I found easier to use to navigate by. Easily accessed USB 2.0 port in front to allow printing from thumb drives, etc. This also has NFC “touch to connect” print and scan from your phones if no wifi. Main tray has 250 sheet capacity. Multi-purpose tray has 30 page capacity Every time I opened one of the trays I received an alert stating what paper was loaded and whether I wanted to change it. Also asked if wanted to receive this notice moving forward. I found this a nice feature to make sure you have printer set to correct paper source. I found the duplex printing to be very fast whether using greyscale or color. 2 sided auto copying was very fast as well using the feeder (50 page capacity). Took a few seconds to scan and just a few seconds to print. The print quality very closely matched the original. Scanning worked well producing exact replication. Also has adjustments for resolution, size, etc. If using the plate to scan the feeder tilts up/down as well as expanding upward an inch or so to allow for thicker source such as scanning from a book, etc. Using the MP tray was easy once I figured out how to use the software to access settings (see below in software) In all cases I found the text and pictures printed to be very crisp and clear with no smudging even if using lowest resolution and ink saving option(s). Also, printer is pretty quiet and quickly wakes from sleep mode when sent something to print. Software; For computer; Built in Control Center 4 software which you can select to run at startup and whether to send info back to Brother. Gives you access to run scan/copy/fax as well as adjustments options for each. Brother Iprint&scan software I found to be pretty useless on my desktop as I couldn’t find how to set the correct tray when trying to print. But it does allow direct access to your source rather than having to use 3rd party software. Brothers Utility software has several options and allows deeper dive into printers’ functionality, options and purchasing supplies. From my computer I found it easier if printing from 3rd party software (example – windows 10 photos or word) - was to select print option then select printer options or advanced options. This allows you to select which tray to use, resolution, color or grayscale, duplex, etc. You can also use presets or create your own for next time. Also includes OCR Paperport 14 software which you can decide to install or not during printer software installation. I have used it in the past and found it useful especially converting scanned pages to editable text. For phone (android in my case); Brother Iprint&scan software - I downloaded this app to my android phone – although I did not like all the access it requested. I unchecked sending info on the initial license approval (very bottom document). You can use this to print remotely and I found the print quality to be excellent. But you have to search thru your pictures and select to print them. I also downloaded Brothers Print Service Plugin to my android phone. This allows you to print a picture you may be viewing using gallery, google pictures, etc. I found it useful and again print quality excellent. Both apps streamed to the printer pretty quickly with just a slight delay before printing. 1 year warranty Quibbles; Printed pages, especially 4 x 6, are not the easiest to get to as they are deposited into a “well” in the middle of the printer. You can tip up the entire top of the printer for easier access but then it looks like a car with its hood up and it is noisier. I did notice 2 very small thin “lines” running the entire length of the paper when printing 4 x 6 pictures using HP Premium Plus paper. To me it seemed they were created by the wheels moving paper thru the printer? Not noticeable if looked at straight on – only if tilted. Did not seem to occur using regular paper. Printed documents or pictures were a tad “curly” (not flat). A simple press against a table edge fixed it so just an FYI. Overall, I think this does a lot of things well. Thoughtful design, software and functionality in a very solidly made printer….

Last week I received the Brother MFC-L3770CDW Color laser printer for my home office. I have used several other MFC (multi-function color) printers before – both Laser and Ink Jet, and was excited to give this one a try as I’ve been having scanning-to-pc connectivity issues with another popular brand recently. The first thing you notice is the size and weight of this unit. It weighs in at 54 lbs. and is roughly a 16”x20”x16” cube. You’ll need ample space and a study table or counter top to place this machine. Setup was a smooth and easy. Unpack, remove all the shipping tape and tabs, install the toner, attach to the wireless network and BOOM – you’re printing. Mine detected a software update within the first 5 minutes and quickly downloaded/installed it. The 3.7” LCD display is intuitive and easy to use – and also informed me of that software update. I installed the full Brother Utilities software on my desktop computer from the freshly downloaded nearly 500MB file and let everything be setup as default. The printer has NFC features for the Android phones, but the iPhone I have doesn’t support that. Never fear – the AirPrint capabilities worked flawlessly – and allowed me to print out pictures with no trouble at all! A couple things I really like about the printer include: 1. A large paper source tray with the ability to handle Legal paper as well 2. The multi-sheet document feeder on top – which has worked well with my test stack of 20 pages – some with folds in them. It is able to handle 50 pages at a time! 3. The Duplex scanning features – and the scan to PC worked great on the first attempt – a big plus as compared to other MFC’s I’ve used in the past. 4. The 30 sheet multi-purpose paper tray – works great for using special paper without having to switch stock out of the normal 250 sheet paper tray. 5. To copy or scan pages from a book or magazine, the document feeder lifts up about an inch or so to accommodate the thickness of the object – a nice feature! A couple things that surprised me about the printer: 1. It seems a bit slow to start printing – usually between 10-15 seconds. I know that doesn’t seem long - but when I hit the print button I want the printer to start making noises and printing right away. 2. I printed the same color document test page on this Brother MFC Laser device and also to my own MFC Inkjet Printer. Yes I’m aware that it is not a true comparison – but I feel the Ink Jet printer did a better job rendering the colors and took less time overall for what it’s worth. Overall – this is an excellent MFC device that will work well in a home office or small office with multiple users. The toner cartridges are rated at over 1000 pages each – and are individually replaced as needed. It’s very quiet and with the duplex features, automatic document feeders and integration with most major cloud document servers – you can’t go wrong. I gave 4 stars vs 5 only due to the relatively slower start-print time and slightly less distinct prints as compared to my MFC ink-jet.

    Great (big) printer

I have always wanted a color laser printer, and when I was able to pick one of these up, I jumped at the chance. I will start out by saying that this thing is a beast. Its big and heavy, but if you can get over that and find a place to put it, I know you'll love it! Unboxing and setup was fairly straightforward. There are a million little pieces of blue tape you have to take off the printer as well as open it up and remove a plastic piece from all of the toner cartridges and then re-insert them. Might be a little challenging for a tech novice, but I think most people would be able to figure it out. Once you have all that done, just pop the enclosed CD in your computer (or download it if you dont have a CD drive) and then go through the setup process. It pretty much shows you step by step what to do while its installing the software. I had mine setup wirelessly and ready to go in under 10 minutes. Performance wise, this thing does everything you would expect it to do and it does it very well! Print quality is amazing. I will admit I haven't tired it with laser photo paper yet, but I cant wait to try. Even on plain paper though you get crisp clear printing in full color! You also get the very fast speeds that laser printing offers. Even full color pages fly out of the machine! Next up is the scanning. It works great as just a standard single page scanner, or you can also load up a bunch of pages and it will automatically grab a page, scan it, and then do the next till they are all done and you don't have to do anything! I know just about everyone has that pile of receipts and things they always mean to scan but never do cause its so time consuming. With this, you can get through a stack of papers in no time! This is also a full color copier as well which is always useful to have in your home. You can use the auto sheet feed, or just lay a single page on the glass and you'll get a full color copy of anything! (you can also do just black and white for all of these if you choose too). I dont have an analog phone line so I was unable to use the fax feature, but I would imagine its as simple and easy to use as everything else on this printer. In the software as well as on the printer there are tons of adjustments and setup items you can adjust to tweak the printer to do exactly what you want. Especially the toner saver...I recommend that one highly! The only bad thing (and its the same with every other color laser printer) is when the toner runs out and you have to replace 4 cartridges instead of just one. That hurts in the pocketbook a little bit, but I guess thats the price to pay for owning a full color one. I cant say enough good things about this printer and would highly recommend checking it out if you are in the market for a color laser printer.

Great features. 25 page per minute (for both color and black in white) printing is quite impressive. Air printing and NFC printing from mobile devices are big plus. Device has 3,7” touch screen color screen which was very helpful for setup (like joining networks, typing passwords or adding email accounts to the device) and any other everyday use. I especially like scanning features – option to scan to some of the many available cloud services (OneNote, OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Evernote), to your computer, USB drive, network location, FTP, SharePoint, mobile device or to email address it’s very helpful. So many options that it makes hard to decide which one to use. Device also has feature which checks for new firmware and let you know when as soon as firmware update is available. Device has secure printing which is not feature I saw before. Copier has good coping options such as 2 sided copy, 2 in 1 (for both regular size document and ID), receipt and some other options which really makes this device very useful for everyday use. For fax I would just say - standard as they come. I would highly recommend this device for small business offices. Because of two things I listed under the “cons” I will must lover my review for one star. Pros: All in one (Fax, Printer, Scanner and copier) Laser device Air printing NFC printing Advanced scanning options High quality printing jobs Auto update Cloud and email services Cons: Weight - I find this device way too heavy for its size Toners and drum – currently very limited availability and pricey

This is my first time owning a laser color printer, and this all in one laser printer was going to replace my current setup, which was a scanner and a separate black and white laser printer. As far as printers go, this one is pretty awesome. It has all the features you'll need, and even ones that you'll probably never use. The touch screen and provided software make it so that you don't even need a computer to set it up and start printing. It's very easy to use, and to figure out where everything goes. So long as you can read and follow the UI, everything is intuitive. So overall, I'd give the printer a 10/10, as there's nothing I genuinely hate about it. However, what is a little lacking is the software that's installed on the computer. It feels like it's a few versions behind the software on the printer. When I go to print a document using the Brother iPrint&Scan software, I noticed there were a few printer settings missing when compared to printing off a USB directly on the printer. It's not a good sign when I go to print a photo and the Microsoft Photo Gallery app has more settings than the one that comes with the printer. Other things I noticed is that the wireless scanning can be a little finicky. When you're on the computer and tell the printer to scan, it does an ok job. And by ok, I of course mean that the document scans, but there's a window that stays open forever until you restart your computer. There is also an option on the printer to scan to your computer, but that did not seem to work at all. It shows on the computer that it was scanning, but I couldn't not find any documents. One thing to note, is that when I first tried this feature, I did not have the software installed on my computer. However, it did still show that it was scanning. The frustrating part was that it didn't tell me where it was saving the scans to. It would have been a nice feature if the printer told the user where it's saving your scans so you don't have to search everywhere for it. I would love to give this printer 5 stars, but the lack of software is holding it back a bit. It's not a huge problem though, since you can do everything without the computer anyways. With a few software updates, I have no doubt that this printer will deserve the 5 stars that it gets.

The Brother MFC-L3770CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is a replacement for an HP Color Laser All-in-One that suffered a colossal paper jam it would not recover from. Service availability was non-existent and the although the jam was cleared, the error message did not rendering the printer useless. The Brother printer has been in use in my small office for nearly 2 months with not a single jam - sends and receives faxes like a pro - print quality both in color and B&W has been top notch. This printer is connected to our office Wi-Fi and prints from anywhere in the office or surrounding area - as well as from my Android Smartphone with the Brother iPrint&Scan app. Scans have been crystal clear and easy to manage. All in all - very happy with the Brother MFC-L3770CDW.

The printer is easy to set up, including wireless printing. I print wireless from windows 10 and my iphone, and it has been very reliable in connecting. It prints with good speed, including double sided pages, once it warms up and starts the print job. I only gave 4 stars as full page photo print could be crisper and sharper. It is a great entry level laser printer for most other print jobs and excels with pages of text and color images throughout the page. Scanning to the PC is also easy to do with the Brother iPrint&Scan software that is included. Please note -- I did receive this item free in exchange for a fair/honest review as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Network. Everything written above is my honest opinion of the product.

This machine is a replacement for a 6 year old Brother Laser Printer. This machine is a very good choice for the price range. It does a lot more than my older one did except the print quality is not as good. The printer settings are not as adjustable compare to my old printer but the duplex works great. The scanner could be better but this printer does get the job done. Just wish there were way more settings when it comes to printing. It's not a deal breaker. I do recommend this machine. I've owned this for about 4 months and I have had no issues. Still good quality from Brother.

Replaced HP inkjet printer (6800). Was spending almost $100 every 3 months on replacement ink cartridges even though I was only printing about 200-300 pages during that time using XL ink cartridges. Time will tell for sure but based on page counts from toner vs. ink and getting a true page count from toner not losing ink due to drying/evaporation the upfront cost of the laser printer should be offset by fewer toner cartridge replacement costs. I was already about to be out another $100 (4th time in less than a year) for more ink so I just invested that $$$ into a new printer.

This is a great all in one printer. I have a small office and I’d say it’s just the right size. The setup process was fairly easy just like previous printers I’ve had in the past. The color is amazing it prints very quickly. The fact that I can fax is of course a big plus for me. I have used the NFC feature and it worked like a charm. The touc screen is very responsive. The fact that I can print straight from Dropbox on my iPhone also great. Overall I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed with this printer since I’m coming from an HP all in one and had never heard of the brother brand before.

i have only been using the printer for a few weeks now - but i have been using it pretty heavily. it is such a relief to have an all-in-one that connects RELIABLY via wireless! not super-duper fast but i wasn't looking for speed - and as is always the case with laser color, the colors are CLEARLY not as bright and deep as with ink-jet - but i am relieved to not have to deal with the constant waste of an ink-jet.

We wanted a printer that was fast and the print wouldn't smear. This fits the bill. However, oftentimes the printer won't respond if I send something to print while it's in standby mode. I have to go to the printer and get it out of standby mode before I send a document to print. Maybe there's a way to change that. But if so, I haven't found it!

We started with a Canon printer, and it was a nightmare to connect to our devices and computers. This works 100% better. Easy connect to WiFi, mobile devices, and computers. Downloading the drivers can take a long time (more than an hour) so factor that in during laptop setup with a CD. Print quality is very good. Happy with it so far.
