I have had ink cartridge printers up until now and tired of the lack of printers qualities they left me with. The manufactures kept giving me fixes to make their products work the way they said that they do. I finally bit the bullet and put out more cash. The Brother MFC-L8900CDW cost more than the all in one's that I had been buying but so far, has given me excellent printouts and photos. Being a laser printer, I expect to get many years and thousands of prints in the years to come. I have only had my new Brother for about 3 weeks. the set up was easy and only took about 1 hour to get it ready on 4 PC's and cell phones. The PC's with Windows 7 were a slight challenge but are talking to it like they are supposed to. Being a laser, it takes a few seconds to warm up before the print job starts but that is just a lasers characteristic. I will update this if I find this to be a boondoggle testament.

Been HP users for many, many years, so was a bit reluctant to try a Brother, but after a few weeks of use, would recommend it. Fairly easy to set up, although you'll need to download a true user's manual for more in-depth info on full capabilities and available, helpful settings. Wish there was a bit more metal than plastic (such as on fold-out tray for large paper), but that's common with most printers in this class. Good print quality. Expected to need to buy toner cartridges after just a few days of testing, but the ones that come with it seem to be full capacity and there's a good viewable graphic of the toner status. Planning to buy an optional paper tray for legal paper now too.

    Lots of Features but..

This laser printer has a lot of features for the money, ex, has duplex scanning as well as duplex printing (excellent) but slower printing than expected for a laser printer (very disappointing). The fax function is also disappointing as there is little to no indication of what happening during the faxing of a document (no page # of # sending, connected, etc.). More times than not, the fax doesn't go through though it appears to have connected to a fax machine at the other end. It also seems to want to resend a fax even when a completed fax is confirmed (annoying).

I have had this printer for a few weeks now and it does a much better job than my inkjet and of course, no more runny ink issues! Color pictures come out nice, and it prints much faster than my old printer. I only used the manual feed once and I had some trouble with it, but I think that was mostly learning curve on my part. Once I figured out you had to go into the settings on the printer, I was able to get it working. That could be easier in my opinion, but I won't use that feature too frequently anyway. Overall a great printer!

Great "All in One" printer, copier, scanner. Although a large foot print, quality is great, easy to use, and will reduce costs in long run due to not having to buy ink that always seems to dry out and clog a printer at a horrendous cost. Also toner will last even when left for an extended period. Was looking for something that could perform all these features with toner, had good reviews, and didn't break the bank. This unit seems to hit the mark.

This is my first venture into laser printers, so I can only compare it to the ink jets that I have owned before. This printer was easy to set up but it is large and heavy and having someone to help lift and position it was helpful and perhaps necessary. Print quality is outstanding. My only complaint is that it is much slower than an ink jet. All in all, this is a great printer and a good buy.

I really thought after reading and comparing on a few models that this would be a great printer for me. I'm really not that excited after using it for a short time though. It has kind of a long pause before it starts printing (maybe I'm just impatient) and the color quality is just ok. I'm actually thinking about exchanging it for something else.

I was tired of replacing ink cartridges on ink jet printers for home use so finally invested into a much better printer. Scanning, printing, copying, and email functionality is perfect. Quality of print jobs also is greatly improved over typical ink jet printers.

    Two things

Two things keep this printer from having five stars. 1st is the additional paper tray - over $150.00 everywhere I've looked; 2nd is the horrendous envelope printing ordeal - you have to have the front and back covers open at the same time. So if it's not sitting in the middle of the room good luck with envelopes.

Wow I love this product. It does it all!!! Fax, print, scan, copy and much more. You can scan documents that sends to your Dropbox account. It scans both color and black/white. Also printer prints out color too. This machine is great. 100% satisfaction.

    Good printing, but slow

I was expecting this printer to be at least as fast as my CDW 4070, but it is not, it is slow. The color is good, but I cannot believe how slow it is for a laser printer, and this will be my 4th large capacity laser printer.

The images are not as bright or as crisp as I am used to with other brands. It takes awhile to set up the program for all the functions. I haven't had time to do all of it, so I am not using the fax function, speed dialing, or the remote stuff. WiFi works great.

The standard quality of printing from this device is great for office use. BUT, if you print any photos or need higher resolution printing, this thing drinks ink like you've never seen! BUT also, gives you a terrific result.

Replaced a MFC-8850cdw. The are both great printers. Older one was easier to connect to network, but once finally connected it is fast. Great color. Scan to USB is faster than previous. Overall great printer.

scan and prints really well. wireless would frequently say offline even when power was on at all times. Works better when wired. All computers for my company were able to print. I would say I have above average computers skills but advanced or a computer networking degree.

I had an HP color laser and the toner price was too high for my business. I looked all over and found this Brother printer was both faster and less expensive toner by far. Highly recommended!!!

Extremely easy to setup. We quickly hooked this printer to the network and had it installed on several PCs in no time. Everyone has been extremely happy with this new printer and the cost per print will save us a lot of $$.

Great printer, but when you print envelopes you have to pull down a few switches on the back of the unit and than push back up to print paper so totally stupid design to have to keep going back and forth from front to back.
