This microwave is disappointing; keep looking

Save yourself the disappointment and frustration, and look for a different model/manufacturer. This microwave looks great, but that's where the positives end. It takes forever to defrost anything; our temporary countertop microwave defrosted things faster than this one. You can't pop popcorn in it, not enough wattage. Heating anything up takes much longer than it should, and the fan won't hold the set speed if you are using it and warming something up at the same time. It's also really frustrating that the control panel times out after a period of time, and it's difficult to figure out where the fan button or light button is without opening the door to get the control panel to light up. Don't waste your money on this microwave. If we could return it, we definitely would.

BUYER BEWARE: Poor Design and Product Support

By January of 2022, the microwave started to having popping noises inside when running. Then, the digital clock/panel in the door went completely on the fritz. Either the numbers on the digital display wouldn’t show up correctly or not show up at all. Since it was under the 1-year warranty, we called GE Repair and they sent a technician out. He advised that this microwave was poorly designed because the wiring to the control panel is all embedded in the door hinge. Therefore, the wiring rubs and gets twisted each time you open/close the door (hence the malfunction). To make sure to address the unknown popping issue, he replaced the guts of the microwave (including the magnetron, control panel and the entire microwave door). He advised me that this may likely happen again. Still, he advised that all of the parts used in the repair would be covered under GE Repair’s 5-year warranty (which is clearly stated on the GE Repair website). 2 years later, the same problem started to happen again, and the door panel fritzed out. By fate, the same repair tech came out and he wasn’t surprised that this happened again. When he tried to order a new door, he was advised that GE no longer manufactured the door we needed for this microwave to work. To add insult to the situation, GE said they would not honor the 5-year guarantee on the replaced door part (which no longer exists since they don’t manufacture it) because it was reinstalled/repaired during the initial 1-year warranty. Had it been replaced exactly one day after the 1-year warranty period expired, then they would honor it. However, since there is no door to replace it with, they would have to offer you the same option as they did to us UNLESS you have an extended warranty. So, BUYER BEWARE. If you purchase this microwave, make sure also to purchase an extended warranty. No microwave should only last 3 years, especially at the price they are charging. It seems, based on other reviews that this product is built to become obsolete.
