Bought this as a supplement to our Cuisinart grind and brew when I just wanted a single cup of coffee. Works great, love the granular settings like being able to change temps etc of the water. Overall, I enjoy this unit. Easy cleanup for the next cup

This coffee pot is less than a year old & has been lightly used, since I mostly do single cup pour overs. It made very good coffee at the beginning but there are worsening problems with the way it moves water into the grounds. It is leaking & the necessary water quantity doesn't get to the beans, making coffee that is twice as strong as ut should be. I plan to return it tomorrow!

Purchased to replace a Krups Grind & Brew and so-far-so-good. There are some really great features on this machine: the app, the ability to change the water temperature, being able to use whole beans or pre ground coffee, being able to adjust from single use to a full carafe…….. Also, the quality made me want to research more products by this brand

Very cheaply made. I expected the water reservoir to at least be made of glass, and filter holder barely closes. If it were to cost $60, rhen maybe a decent deal but not for the price it's sold as. I returned it

This is a premium coffee maker. It's very heavy and clearly built with quality materials. We had to replace our old coffee maker and decided to step up to the next level with this Cafe coffee maker. We selected the stainless steel version which matches the rest of our kitchen appliances. The grind mechanism was much quieter than we expected. We love the large water reservoir which is easy to fill whenever you need to. Cleanup is easy as there aren't a lot of small parts to worry about. We really like the customizable brewing features. These include the temperature control as well as the brew strength. For people who like a strong (or weak) cup of coffee - this is perfect for you. My wife also likes the single cup option for when she needs a cup of coffee in the middle of the day. We don't use the WiFi feature. I suppose every manufacturer feels the need to build WiFi-enabled products in this day and age, but I don't see the need for this feature in a coffee maker. What we didn't expect was the height of the coffee maker. It does fit below our upper cabinets but only by a couple of inches. You will have to find an area of your kitchen where the coffee maker can be placed correctly. We are very happy with this coffee maker. It has become an important and well-designed appliance in our kitchen.

The grinder broke on this pot within 28 days of owning it. BEST BUY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE POT. They stated too many days had went by. I had not even received the Best Buy bill with the charge for the coffee maker on it. The coffee maker itself makes decent coffee. The grinder broke immediately. Best Buy has the worst customer satisfaction and customer service I’ve ever experienced. They refuse to replace the coffee pot and don’t stand by the products they sell.

    A Truly Amazing Coffee Experience

This is easily by far the best coffee maker I have owned. It makes a great cup or cups every time. The added tech is so nice to have as well as the attention to design and details. The app is very well made and allows you to choose the temperature up to 205 degrees F and “Blooming” time which I found out is just the time the coffee bean needs to expel the stored CO2 which if left in the coffee can create a sour tasting cup of coffee. The most impressive aspect of this machine is that my significant other - who hates most tech - loves this machine and I have heard her make positive comments every time she brews a cup for herself. The gray color way I chose really allows you to see the coffee grinds when cleaning the basket. This coffee maker comes with two filters - one for the carafe and one geared more toward single cups. I don’t like how you have to manually switch from pot to single cup as I think that takes away from the whole all in one remote coffee feature they are going for. I really appreciate the separate water tank and its filtered water. It’s just nice to see your clean water waiting to be added to your morning brew!

This is purely a splurge item and nothing more. I found out I really didnt need this, aside from my habit of spending and buying new stuff. It has a lot of cool features, built in grinder and you can use an app to brew and setup brew times. But... at the end of the day, it doesnt make coffee better than a 20 dollar drip coffee maker. Buying an expensive machine wont make coffee better. I would argue that its the illusion of a 200 dollar machine and you convincing yourself it does. The reality is that the amount of grams you use for the grounds and ounces of water you use are more important. Save yourself the money and dont buy this.

    Stylish coffeemaker with grinder

This coffeemaker has 3 key highlights: It's style, its grinder, and the "Gold" brew standard. This coffeemaker tosses away that old office breakroom style coffeemaker for something a bit more stylish. And honestly, I like it, if nothing else just for the sake of being a fresh look. This layout also let them make a very large water reservoir. It can hold about a pot and a half of water. The grinder addition is one of the key pieces of this. Fresh ground beans will always make for better tasting coffee, but grinding yourself is sometimes a hassle. This coffeemaker takes away the hassle. Just pour the beans in, and the coffeemaker takes care of the rest. Though, you do have to choose the grind size. But, one thing I was a bit surprised by, is you can't choose the amount of beans to be ground. It automatically grinds what it thinks is the appropriate amount based on your brew settings. For a single cup, I found the amount it ground to be a little less than I'd like and resulting in slightly watery cup. For a full pot it was fine. Unfortunately, my local stores only had Starbucks beans in stock, which aren't my favorite. But I brewed them anyway, set to the Gold brew, and it really pulled the flavor from the beans and made a very bold cup of coffee. All of the Starbucks flavor was front and center. It didn't taste watery, and it didn't taste like a burnt grainy mess. Just that punch that Starbucks coffee is known for. This is a "Smart" coffeemaker, and really the coolest part of it is being able to set the schedule from your phone (which you can set per day of week). Though oddly, you can't set the clock from your phone. Also, annoyingly, you have to create a GE account and log in in order to use the app. But, it's pretty cool getting a notification on your phone that it's done brewing. When you get to your freshly brewed coffee, the display will even show how old the brew is, which is a really nice touch; though it clears if you open the brew basket to clean it. The coffee carafe is super insulated, so there is no warming plate under the pot. The coffee stays hot in the thermos-like pot, meaning you don't even have to keep the pot at the coffeemaker to keep it warm. For single-cup brewing, all you can do is put the cup under the brew basket, and unfortunately, the distance is quite far, so coffee splashes everywhere as it brews. Making it not ideal for single cup brewing (unless you like cleaning up coffee splashes). You can opt to not use the grinder, and use pre-ground coffee... just remember to turn off the grinder before you do so, otherwise if you still have beans in there.... you'll get a mixed coffee. Ask me how I know. So, there's a lot of interesting features, and overall a pretty neat coffeemaker that makes a solid brew.

Excellent coffee center with one small gripe that I'll get to. Setup: The setup is very easy and straightforward. You can hook up the coffee maker to wifi, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Simply wash the water container, carafe, brew basket and you're good to go! If you want to connect to wifi, that is easy as well. I downloaded the app, and it immediately recognized there was a nearby coffee maker that needed to connect to wifi. Follow the steps, and you are online in no time (took me a few minutes to get on wifi). Use: There are many settings for this coffee maker (even more on the app to fine tune bloom etc). Otherwise, it is very easy to brew a pot (or cup) of coffee. The water reservoir has enough water for about 1.5 pots, or a pot and a couple extra cups later. The bean hopper at the top holds a decent amount, but I wished it could hold a little more. You can adjust the grind size as well, between multiple different settings. I left it right in the middle as recommended, and that seems to work well for me. There are two different included filters, both of which are reusable permanent type filters. The larger basket for brewing a whole pot, and the smaller one for brewing a cup (think Keurig but without the pods.) You can also use paper filters for full pots if you don't want to use the permanent one. Ok, so you want a pot of coffee? Let's do that. Its simple. On the pad, select the brew size (cup, pot, how many etc), strength (light, medium, bold, gold), and press brew. The machine then grinds the required amount, steeps and brews the pot. It takes roughly 8 minutes and you're off to the races! You are also able to use pre-ground beans if you'd like, and can bypass the grinding function. Taste: In my experience so far, it brews on the strong side. Even on the light setting, it seems to use quite a few beans, and still comes out quite strong. Now, I LOVE strong coffee, I've just noticed this is quite strong. The Gold setting is very strong, but has a good taste to it. This is the gripe I mentioned above....it uses ALOT of beans. Overall: There are many fine tweaking settings, especially if you set up the app. You can also set a timer either on the machine or in the app to brew at a certain time, or you can remotely start a brew from the app (just be sure you have a filter in!). I found a useful wifi feature is it tells you on the app when the brew cycle is complete, so if you are far away from the machine you know when you have fresh coffee! The machine is large; however, it combines a grinder and a nice water tank. This has a smaller footprint overall than my old machine with separate grinder.

This Grind and Brew Coffee maker is the second Café branded coffee maker from GE I’ve owned. This is the first one that had the grind feature. This unit, the model C7CGAAS, appears to be more sophisticated than my earlier version. Both supported Wi-Fi, so that’s the same. Oh, who needs a Wi-Fi coffee maker? Well, I do. Lol! Wi-Fi allows for a number of capabilities, like allowing you to remotely start a brew cycle without having to stand directly in front of the coffee maker. That’s handy, for sure. Let’s say that you wake up in the morning and you desperately want your morning coffee. It happens, you know Using this Grind and Brew coffee maker, ensure before going to bed that coffee beans are in the Bean Hopper and that there is ample water in the reservoir. Oh, and that there’s either a mug or the carafe positioned properly. Kick off the brew process by either programming a delayed start so that it kicks off automatically or use the SmartHQ app on your phone to start the brewing process. Aside from that, having the coffee maker connected to Wi-Fi means that the time on the unit will always be accurate. That’s incredibly important if the coffee maker has lost power at some point, possibly due to a power failure or an inadvertent unplugging from the wall outlet. As soon as power comes back on, the coffee maker will communicate with a time server on the Internet to get the correct time. It was not uncommon for me to get up in the morning only to find that my old coffee maker was flashing 12:00 over and over. Before setting up Wi-Fi to begin the pairing process, install the SmartHQ app on your phone. Once installed and an account has been created, run the app. It immediately recognizes that there is a new coffee maker nearby, and it will talk you through setting it up on your network. The app will prompt you to press and hold both the Hour and Minute buttons for about 3 seconds to initiate the Wi-Fi pairing process. It is a pretty quick process and takes maybe 2-3 minutes in total to complete. Before this coffee maker, I already had a standalone grinder for my coffee beans. It has now been relegated to a backup role. I would typically grind a week’s worth of beans and store the grounds in a cool, dark location. This GE Café coffee maker brings in a whole new dynamic where it grinds the beans just seconds before they are used. I like it! If you already have some ground coffee beans, either from your own grinding efforts or from purchasing pre-ground beans at the store, this coffee maker can accommodate it. Just pour the appropriate amount of ground beans into the filter, and then press the “Grind Off’ button. Doing so will cause the Grind and Brew to skip its normal grind process. A number of other coffee makers I’ve owned have water reservoirs built directly onto them. This unit, however, has a water reservoir that sits adjacent to the coffee maker. This allows you to lift the reservoir for easy transport to the sink to refill it with water. Fill it up, transport it back to the coffee maker and seat it back into its water reservoir base. The water reservoir can get a bit heavy when filled to its full capacity of 75oz, so make sure you have a good grip. The Water Reservoir has a Water Filter built into the bottom of the reservoir. To access it, lift the water reservoir out of its base, pour out any remaining water, and twist the Filter counterclockwise until the filter housing slides out. Replace the filter and then reverse the process of reseating the filter housing back into the reservoir. According to GE, the filter should be replaced every 2 months or so, and a heads-up alert is displayed on this unit’s control panel when that time comes around. The Grinder has numerous settings that allow you to adjust how finely the grinder grinds the coffee beans. By twisting a dial, you direct how coarse or how fine the grounds will be. I typically keep my grinder setting in the middle of the two, about a 3.2 setting - neither too coarse nor too fine. I also prefer a light-to-medium roast. This Grind and Brew coffee maker has a ton of features, making this difficult to document every one of them. I’m going to shorten it up and speak to how it performed for me. Very nicely, in fact. I don’t know how many beans the bean hopper can hold, but I started by placing enough whole beans in the hopper for 6-8 mugs worth of coffee. • I set the grinder to about 3.2, not too fine and not too coarse. • I set the single-serve switch to Mug (there’s also a Carafe option) • I placed a mug where the carafe normally sits. • I pressed the Mug button (which is on the bottom row of the Display Console) until it displayed 8oz. • I previously set the strength to Gold • I then pressed Brew. It seems like a lot of steps, but it’s not. Once you’ve done this a few times, it only takes a second to get things going. If you have a larger group to make coffee for, move the Single serve switch over to Carafe, and press the Carafe button on the Display Console to however many cups of coffee you wish to brew. After making a handful of single-serve brews for myself, I think it makes a pretty good cup of coffee. I like how versatile this unit is, and that the grinder only grinds enough beans to satisfy how much coffee you’re brewing. All-in-all, I believe this Grind and Brew Coffee Maker is a 5-star product.

The Café Grind and Brew Smart Coffee Maker is distinctive in its unique modern design. It features copper accents on the handles and knobs that give it that luxurious and elegant look found on all high-end Café appliances, including their ranges, refrigerators, and microwave ovens. It is relatively large for a small appliance and something you might want to consider if you have limited counter space or lack of height underneath cabinets. The issue of low cabinets in our kitchen did limit where we could place the coffee maker. I would recommend a thorough reading of the owner’s manual to understand all the features and maintenance tips, but once you use it a few times, the basics of brewing coffee from fresh beans are easy. At first, I was uncertain about measuring how many coffee beans to place in the top hopper, but it turns out it grinds just the right amount of beans according to your settings. You just need to make sure the hopper has more than enough beans and fill the water tank and you should be good. The settings are all accessible using a smooth and stylish touch control pad on the base of the coffee maker, including settings for water temperature, strength of the coffee, how many cups (ranging from single-serve up to 10 cups in the carafe). There are also timer settings so that you can wake up to a freshly brewed cup of coffee made from freshly ground beans. The result is a rich smooth cup of coffee but of course some of that will depend on your choice of coffee beans. It comes with washable filters, although I prefer to use paper filters which are easy to find just about anywhere. One thing I really like about the coffee maker is the fact that the hot coffee is stored in a metal unbreakable carafe. There are no hot heating elements or fragile hot glass pots to contend with, which is especially nice if there are young kids in the kitchen. The carafe is insulated and keeps the coffee nice and hot for up to two hours, yet the outside remains cool to the touch. For those who like to control their coffee maker from a smartphone, there is the SmartHQ app that connects via WiFi and offers voice control. Given the intuitive touch controls, I prefer making coffee the old-fashioned way. Since nearly everything is easily removeable, cleanup is easy with a quick rinse and pat dry with a paper towel and you’re ready for your next fresh pot of coffee in no time. What sets this coffee maker apart from the rest in my opinion is its clean and modern artistic design, together with simple intuitive controls to make a perfect cup of fresh brewed coffee. If you love coffee, I think you will love the Grind and Brew Smart Coffee Maker made by Café.
